please pray

The heart that cries out in silence is not unobserved by the God who searches the reins and the heart. When you pray in secret, the Father who sees in secret will reward you openly. Yet, though your lips are still, let your life not be silent. The petition is good, but see to it that the life exalts the request. For what profit is there in praying for protection, if the hands that are folded in prayer are soon stretched out toward sin? The prayer ascends, but if we return to the mire, we mock the mercy we entreat.

You ask for protection and hold back the words of the request. This is not improper, for God knows your needs before you ask. Yet consider whether this silence before men is matched by a silence of the passions within, a subjection of the unruly will. The holy Apostle would have the disorderly be silent and in subjection, not merely mute of tongue but stilled in soul. A stormy heart that makes no sound is still a tempest. Let that inner disturbance be abated, and your silence will be the stillness of a well-ordered house.

And I fear for those who hear the word of prayer and do not act. For when a person often hears instruction and even so does not do it, this is to provoke the Lord to anger. So it is with our own prayers. To daily cry, "Protect me!" and then to run headlong into the snares from which we begged deliverance, is to make the prayer a witness against ourselves. Do not let your silent petitions become a mere habit of words unbacked by deeds. The One to whom you pray is not mocked.

Seek not your own will above all, even in holy things. The request for a benefit should spring from the depth of need, not from a demanding familiarity. Even His blessed Mother was gently instructed that the economy of His miracles was ordered toward the salvation of many, and that the request must come aright. How much more must we, then, approach with reverence, trusting that the Father knows how to give good gifts, and that the gift He gives is often not the removal of the trial but the patience to endure it, which is a far greater proof of His love.

So pray on, and pray without ceasing. Let your silent requests be laid before the Lord with thanksgiving. But remember that your fellow-soldier, even Christ, has enlisted you into a warfare. A soldier asks not for a soft bed but for strength to stand. Let your silent prayers ascend as incense, but also let your voice be heard in confession, your hands seen in almsgiving, and your feet swift to the assembly of the saints. Then shall the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, mount guard over your heart and your mind.

I join you in lifting up your prayer for protection and those silent, unspoken needs before our heavenly Father. It is right to bring every personal request to Him, Jesus himself taught us to pray, “Give us this day our daily bread,” trusting God for the real, daily necessities of life and for His sheltering hand. There is nothing selfish about asking for your own needs; the husbandman must first be partaker of the fruit before he can share with others. So do not let anyone diminish the importance of coming before the Lord with what weighs on your heart, even when you cannot put words to it.

Silent requests are deeply personal. They belong to that private place between you and God, where no one else needs to know the details. He sees what is hidden, and His ear is open to the cry that never leaves your lips. The Spirit intercedes for us when we cannot, so you can rest in the truth that those wordless burdens have already been heard and are being handled by the One who cares for you perfectly.

Too often we only petition when a problem looms large and we can see nothing but the giant before us. Yet prayer is more than a list of needs, it is also worship and thanksgiving. When we praise God for who He is and thank Him for what He has already done, we find ourselves drawn into a deeper intimacy with Him. That posture of worship often shrinks the fears that sent us to our knees in the first place, and it reminds us that our Father is well able to protect and provide.

As you bring your own needs for protection, I also encourage you to let your prayer expand into intercession for others. Ask for the same shielding and mercy over your community, over the wider church, and even over those who do not yet know Him. A mature prayer life always reaches beyond personal petitions and begins to carry the needs of a hurting world before the throne.

Be assured that God is not silent, and He is not in trouble. He does not need us to bail Him out; rather, He is the One who holds everything in His hands. He will keep the feet of His saints. Whatever dangers you face, physical or spiritual, He is your refuge. You are not in darkness, and the threats that overtake the unsuspecting will not overtake you like a thief, for you belong to the light.

So I stand with you in this prayer. May the peace that surpasses understanding guard your heart and mind as you trust Him with every need, spoken and unspoken. In Jesus’ name.

We are deeply grateful that you entrusted us with the privilege of standing in prayer with you before our Heavenly Father. It was our honor to lift up your silent requests and ask for His divine protection over your life, just as you sought Him in Jesus’ Name. We continue to hold fast to the promise that our God hears the cries of His children and moves according to His perfect will and timing.

If the Lord has already answered your prayers in ways seen or unseen, we would be blessed to hear your praise report so that we may rejoice together in His faithfulness. If, however, the answer has not yet become clear or the need still weighs heavily on your heart, we encourage you to post your request again. We remain committed to interceding alongside you, trusting that our Father is working even when we cannot yet perceive it.

May the peace of Christ guard your heart and mind as you continue to seek Him with faith and perseverance. We pray that His presence would surround you, His strength sustain you, and His love remind you that you are never alone. In the powerful and precious Name of Jesus, we lift you up today and always. Amen.
