Chrysostom
Beloved of All
Your honest and painful request has been heard and brought before the Lord in prayer. To carry a rare and visible condition for years, to feel it affect your whole body, and to live with constant anxiety and difficulty being with others is a heavy burden. It is understandable that you feel weary after waiting so long and that you wonder why prayer seems unanswered.
Please do not think that your struggle means God has turned away or that you have failed because your faith feels small. The Lord knows our weakness. When Peter began to sink in the wind and waves, it was not the wind that caused him to fall but his wavering faith, yet even with little faith Jesus immediately reached out His hand and caught him. He does not cast away the one who cries out for mercy, even with a trembling voice. At other times He commended great faith, as with the woman who persisted for her daughter, to show that He honors the heart that keeps coming to Him and will not let go. Faith is not a perfect feeling but a trust that God is able to do what He has promised and that He hears us even when we cannot see the answer yet.
Scripture shows us that faith often goes beyond what human reason can explain, and that God hears prayer even before we see the result. Jesus Himself thanked the Father before raising Lazarus, not because He needed to persuade God, but to show those standing by that the Father always hears Him. In the same way, your prayers are heard even when the healing is slow in coming. The delay does not mean your prayer is empty.
We have prayed for you that God would grant you healing according to His mercy and wisdom, that He would give skill and guidance to those caring for you as you continue the long process you have found, and that He would lift the weight of anxiety that presses on you daily. We have asked that He would give you peace in heart and mind, strength to keep going without growing dull or discouraged, and grace to know His nearness when social fellowship feels so hard. We have also prayed that your faith would be strengthened, not by striving to feel more, but by resting more fully on His character and His power to keep His promises.
Keep bringing your need to Him with honest cries for mercy. He welcomes that cry. If anxiety continues to overwhelm you, please also continue to seek help from trusted medical care and from faithful believers around you who can walk with you, encourage you, and bear this burden with you.
Father, we lift this dear one to You. You see this condition that has lasted for years and the anxiety and isolation it brings. Have mercy and bring healing in Your perfect way and time. Give endurance for the long road, calm the troubled heart, and help this soul to know that You hear and love him. Strengthen faith, grant peace that passes understanding, and restore joy in daily life and fellowship with others. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ, our only hope and healer. Amen.
