Please pray for ###. He was my step sister's boyfriend at the time of her death. He is in the hospital from liver failure caused by alcoholism. He is ### years old. They are saying he might not make it through the night. He is not saved. Please pray that the Lord will spare His life and draw Him to Christ rhat he might receive him and be born again and for healing in his body. Thank you so very much.

We join you in carrying this heavy burden before the Lord for this young man who is in the hospital with liver failure and whose life hangs in the balance. Our hearts are grieved to hear that he is so young and that he is not yet saved, and we agree with you that his greatest need tonight is not only healing for his body but new birth for his soul.

We know that the Lord is merciful and desires that none should perish. As it is written, the Lord does not desire that anyone should perish, but that all should come to repentance 2 Peter 3:9 and God desires all people to be saved and come to full knowledge of the truth 1 Timothy 2:4. We also hear the urgency of this moment, for the Scripture says Today if you will hear his voice, do not harden your hearts Hebrews 3:15 and Behold, now is the accepted time. Behold, now is the day of salvation 2 Corinthians 6:2. If he is still conscious and able to hear, we encourage you or a believing pastor or hospital chaplain to gently speak the gospel to him even now, to tell him that Jesus loves him and died for him and is ready to forgive him.

The alcoholism that has brought his body to this point grieves the Lord because our bodies are not our own. Do not be drunken with wine, in which is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit Ephesians 5:18 and Wine is a mocker and beer is a brawler. Whoever is led astray by them is not wise Proverbs 20:1. We know also that the body is a temple of the Holy Spirit which is in you, which you have from God. You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's 1 Corinthians 6:19-20. Yet we also know there is no sin so great that the blood of Jesus cannot cleanse, and no life so broken that He cannot make it new. If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old things have passed away. Behold, all things have become new 2 Corinthians 5:17 and Jesus said Most certainly I tell you, unless one is born anew, he cannot see the Kingdom of God John 3:3.

We are thankful you called upon the name of Christ, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12 and that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved Romans 10:9 for Whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved Romans 10:13. For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life John 3:16. This is the hope we hold out to this young man tonight.

We lift him to the Father who is able to heal both soul and body, for He forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases Psalm 103:3 and He has promised I will restore health to you, and I will heal you of your wounds says Yahweh Jeremiah 30:17. We do not demand healing but we humbly ask for mercy according to the will of God, knowing that the prayer of faith will heal him who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up. If he has committed sins, he will be forgiven James 5:15.

We pray together now.

Father in heaven, we come before Your throne of grace in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son. We lift up this young man to You who is in liver failure and near death. Lord, You know his name, his age, his history, his grief over the loss of his girlfriend who was the stepsister of the one who has asked us to pray, and You know the bondage of alcohol that has ravaged his body. Have mercy upon him, Father. Spare his life if it be Your will, that You might grant him more time to hear and respond to the gospel. Above all, draw him to Yourself tonight by Your Holy Spirit. Open his eyes to see that he is a sinner in need of a Savior, open his ears to hear that Jesus died on the cross for his sins and rose again, and open his heart to believe and to call upon the name of Jesus and be born again. Forgive him, wash him, make him new. Lay Your healing hand upon his liver and his whole body and restore him as only You can, that he might live and testify of Your grace and power. Comfort his family and friends who wait and fear, and comfort the one who sent this request, and give us all peace to trust Your perfect will. We ask all these things in the mighty and saving name of Jesus Christ our Lord, amen.

We were so moved to read your request for , and we are holding you and him in prayer tonight.

To still be carrying the loss of your stepsister and now to keep vigil for someone so connected to her is a heavy weight. Thank you for loving him this well, to care most of all that he would have a chance to know Jesus and His mercy, even as his body is so ill. We hear how urgent this night feels, and we are asking God to be near.

We are praying with you for mercy for , for wisdom for the doctors and nurses caring for him, and for any open door for him to hear and respond to Christ. If you are able to be in touch with the hospital, it can help to ask if a chaplain is available to visit, or to let the staff know you would welcome a brief, gentle visit or prayer if he is able to receive it. Even when someone is very sick, knowing he is not alone and that Jesus offers forgiveness and new life can bring deep peace.

Please don't carry this night by yourself either. Lean on a trusted pastor, family member or friend to sit with you, pray with you, and help you rest when you can.

Father, we lift to You tonight. You know his body and his heart completely. Have mercy on him, ease his suffering, and guide every hand that cares for him. Draw near to him and let him hear and receive Your grace through Jesus. Comfort this family in their waiting and give them Your peace. In Jesus' name, amen.

We have heard your cry and we come alongside you before the throne of grace for this man who lies so very ill. How heavy this burden must be, with the memory of your step sister's death still near and now one who was close to her brought so low and so near to eternity through the ravages of strong drink. We lift him up to the Lord who alone has power over life and death and who alone can save the soul.

We pray that if it be the Lord's will He would spare his life and raise him up again, not because there is merit in him but because God Himself finds a reason for mercy. The word of the Lord says I have found a ransom. That ransom is the precious blood of Jesus Christ the Son of God who bore the penalty for sinners. We pray that even now, while there is yet breath, the Lord would deliver him from going down to the pit and open his eyes to see that ransom provided.

Above all we pray for his soul, for he is not yet saved and there may be but a step between him and death. We pray that the Spirit of God would awaken him to his need and draw him to look to Jesus upon the cross, for there is life for a look at the crucified One and there is life at this moment for him if he will look by faith. We pray that he would hear the voice of God saying turn, turn from your evil ways, for why will you die, and that he would turn with repentance and faith to Christ who alone is salvation. Truly in the Lord our God is the salvation of Israel and there is no other name by which we must be saved.

We pray also for healing in his body, that the Lord who chastens but has not given over to death according to His sovereign purpose would be pleased to grant further days. And if the Lord is pleased to restore him, we pray that his testimony would be that of the psalmist, I shall not die but live and declare the works of the Lord, that he would be delivered not only from the guilt of sin but from the power of darkness and would walk in newness of life to the glory of God, forsaking the sin that has so wounded him.

We pray that the Lord would give you opportunity and boldness to speak Christ to him and that those near his bedside would faithfully point him to Jesus whose death is the death of death. May the Lord be near to you in this wound that is yet raw and fresh, and may you be enabled to say the will of the Lord be done while still pleading with great hope for mercy. We continue to pray with you that God would be gracious and that this man would be born again by faith in Jesus Christ alone.
