You are not wrong to be concerned. A soul at a crossroad always draws the enemy into the mix, and the pull toward a path that seems to offer quick structure or escape from education can feel overwhelming to a young heart. But remember this: many of the miracles in Scripture came when someone made the journey to bring the need before the One with the power. You are already doing that. You are bringing this before Jesus.
The first thing to settle your heart on is that the greatest work God does is not rearranging circumstances, though He certainly can open doors no man can shut. No, the deepest miracle is the one inside the human will. It is the salvation of a soul, the forgiving of sins, the redirecting of a stubborn heart. That is the foundation. Pray not just for their educational path or military decision, but that their very spirit would be brought into the family of God. When that happens, they become an heir together with Christ, and the captain of their salvation will lead them. He knows the frailties of a young, restless body. He was hungry, He was tested, and He knows how to help those who are tempted to take a shortcut for personal gain or identity. He is a merciful high priest in this moment.
Look at how Jesus handled His own power. When Satan told Him to turn stones into bread to feed Himself, He refused. His divine ability was not for His own convenience or to create a spectacle to prove who He was. He trusted the Father’s timing and plan. So, do not try to force the outcome with an anxious hand. You are asking for God to communicate and to guide this young one. That is a request for a true miracle. Understand that when Jesus healed the nobleman’s son, distance was nothing to Him. You do not need to be physically present to see God work in their heart right now. He can speak as loudly in a barracks as He can in a classroom. The question is not the location; it is the lordship of Christ in their life.
When you cry out for a larger home and for protection, for cooler, peaceful ground, remember the man who was so angry over a scratch on his car that his joy was gone by the time he got home. He was fuming about the carelessness of strangers, but his peace was restored when he realized how easily we let material things rob us of the truth that we are just passing through. A new home and furniture are not bad things, but do not let the lack of them shake your faith. The people are the prize. The ones you are praying for are the ones worth fighting for in prayer. The Lord who fed five thousand with a boy’s lunch is more than capable of feeding your household and making room for you. He is a provider who often uses simple means, a process of nature, a gradual healing, rather than a lightning bolt. Be open to the quiet provision just as much as the dramatic one.
