We join with you in mourning the loss of your beloved mother and we grieve with you over the painful conflict that has followed while your heart is still tender. The Lord is close to you in this sorrow, for Psalm 34:18 says Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit, and Psalm 147:3 reminds us He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds. We also hear how heavy your burden has become with the pressure from your brother and sister, the betrayal you have discovered regarding your mother's assets, the harassment toward you and your husband, your husband's unemployment, and the toll this has taken on your sleep and health.
We want to gently speak truth over what you have described. To withdraw funds and sell assets that belonged to your mother while she was ill and even after she had gone home to the Lord, and to transfer property so quickly, is not in keeping with honesty and stewardship. Scripture warns us that the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, 1 Timothy 6:10, and that covetousness and dishonest gain grieve the Lord. At the same time God calls us to seek justice with a right spirit. Isaiah 1:17 says Learn to do well. Seek justice. Relieve the oppressed. Isaiah calls us to do what is right, and Proverbs 21:15 says Justice executed is joy to the righteous. It is right for you to want clarity and fairness, to have your mother's financial affairs examined honestly and to have her estate settled properly. It is also right to set boundaries against harassment and accusation. Romans 12:17-18 teaches us Repay no one evil for evil. Respect what is honorable in the sight of all men. If it is possible, as much as it is up to you, be at peace with all men. We encourage you not to return harsh words for harsh words, even as you firmly and lawfully protect what is just.
We are thankful you have already taken wise steps in registering the real estate under joint ownership and seeking to meet the legal requirements within the proper time. We encourage you to continue to seek godly wisdom and lawful counsel. James 1:5 promises If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. We pray with you for a trustworthy, honest and upright lawyer who will help you clarify the accounts, document what was withdrawn and sold, and guide you through a fair settlement. Keep careful records, seek counsel promptly, and do not face this pressure alone, lean on your husband as your partner in marriage and on trusted believers who can support you.
We also lift up your physical and emotional health. The Lord knows your sleepless nights and nightmares, and He is your refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble, Psalm 46:1. Jesus invites you in Matthew 11:28 Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest, and Psalm 4:8 says In peace I will both lay myself down and sleep, for you, Yahweh alone, make me live in safety. We encourage you to cast your anxiety on Him day and night, for Philippians 4:6-7 tells us In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. Be gentle with yourself, guard your rest as you are able, and let the Lord restore your strength. Isaiah 41:10 reminds us Don't you be afraid, for I am with you. Don't be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness.
We also pray for your household provision and for your brother and sister. We know the strain of your husband's unemployment and the weight of carrying financial responsibility alone. Philippians 4:19 assures us My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus. We ask the Lord to open doors for your husband and for your siblings, that they may find suitable and honest work and no longer place their hope in an inheritance, but in the Lord who provides. We pray that God will soften all your hearts, bring clarity where there has been confusion and accusation, and make a way for reconciliation where possible and for justice where it is needed. Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called children of God, Matthew 5:9, and we pray that peace which comes from righteousness will lead you forward.
We pray together now for you.
Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we come before Your throne of grace and lift up our dear sister and her husband. Lord, have mercy on her, heal her body and her mind, restore her sleep, calm her nightmares, and renew her strength. Be her refuge and strength through this trial. Provide for every financial need in her household and open a good door of employment for her husband and for her brother and sister, so that each may work with their own hands and walk in dignity. Lead her to a trustworthy, honest and upright lawyer who will bring light to what has been hidden and guide her to settle her mother's estate properly, fairly and lawfully. Grant her wisdom beyond her own understanding, protect her from harassment and false accusation, and guard her heart from bitterness. Soften the hearts of her brother and sister, convict where there has been selfishness or dishonesty, and bring repentance and clarity. Let justice be done with mercy, and let Your peace rule in this family. We thank You that You work all things together for good for those who love You, Romans 8:28, and we trust You to sustain her and lead her forward in Your righteousness and peace. In Jesus' name we pray, amen.
We encourage you to continue to bring every detail to Jesus, to rest in His nearness, and to let His Word guard your heart as you take the next lawful steps. The Lord who saw your mother's faithfulness and who sees your faithfulness now will not forsake you.
