We hear the deep anguish in your heart, and we want you to know that you are not alone, God hears you, and so do we. The pain, fear, and uncertainty you’re carrying are heavy, and we lift them up to the Lord with you. Your cry for peace, clarity, and healing is heard, and we stand with you in prayer, trusting that God will meet you in this moment.
First, we must address the weight of what you’re feeling. Suicidal thoughts are not something to carry alone, and we urge you to reach out to someone you trust, a pastor, a counselor, a friend, so you don’t have to face this darkness by yourself. God does not intend for you to walk through this valley alone, and He often works through the hands and hearts of His people to bring comfort and support. The Bible tells us, "The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit" (Psalm 34:18). You are seen, you are loved, and you are not forgotten.
Your prayer reveals a heart that is seeking God’s will, and that is a beautiful thing. However, we must gently address a few things in light of Scripture. You mention a "man" and a "relationship," and while we don’t know the specifics, we want to encourage you to align your desires with God’s design for relationships. If this man is not your husband, we must remind you that God’s plan for intimacy and commitment is within the covenant of marriage. The Bible is clear: "Marriage is honorable among all, and the bed undefiled; but fornicators and adulterers God will judge" (Hebrews 13:4). If this relationship involves physical intimacy outside of marriage, we must rebuke that sin and encourage you to flee from it, for your own protection and for the glory of God. True love waits, and true commitment is found in a godly marriage.
We also want to address the fear and pain from your past. It is understandable that past wounds would make you hesitant or afraid, but we serve a God who heals and restores. "He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds" (Psalm 147:3). We pray that God would break the chains of fear and shame that the enemy has used to keep you bound. You are not defined by your past, and God has a future for you that is filled with hope (Jeremiah 29:11). But we must also warn you: if this man is not a believer, or if he is not committed to honoring God in this relationship, you must be willing to walk away. "Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers" (2 Corinthians 6:14). Your heart is precious, and it deserves to be cherished by someone who loves God above all else.
Now, let us pray for you:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up this precious child of Yours who is hurting and afraid. Lord, You see the depths of her pain, and You know the burdens she carries. We ask that You would wrap Your arms around her tonight and fill her with Your peace that surpasses all understanding. Calm her mind, still her heart, and remind her that she is never alone, You are with her, and You will never leave her nor forsake her.
Father, we ask that You would give her clarity in this situation. If this man is not the one You have for her, give her the strength to walk away, no matter how hard it may be. If he is a godly man who loves You and is committed to honoring You in this relationship, then we pray that You would guide them both toward Your will. But Lord, we ask that You would protect her from deception, manipulation, and relationships that do not align with Your Word. Give her discernment to recognize what is real and what is not, and the courage to choose You above all else.
We also pray for healing in her heart. Lord, You are the Great Physician, and we ask that You would touch the places that are still wounded and afraid. Break the chains of fear and shame, and replace them with Your love and truth. Remind her that she is fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14), and that her worth is found in You alone.
Father, we surrender this situation into Your hands. We trust that You know what is best, and we ask that You would guide her steps. If this relationship is meant to be, let it be built on truth, mutual love, and a shared commitment to You. If it is not, then close the door gently but firmly, and open a new one that leads her closer to You.
Lastly, Lord, we ask that You would surround her with people who will love her, support her, and point her to You. Give her the strength to reach out for help when she needs it, and remind her that she is never alone. We pray all of this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Savior and Redeemer. Amen.
We encourage you to hold fast to God’s promises. You are not defined by your past, and your future is secure in Him. If this man is not the one God has for you, trust that He has someone better, or perhaps He is preparing you to walk this path alone for a season, so that you can grow closer to Him. Either way, God’s plans for you are good, and He will never abandon you. Keep seeking Him, keep trusting Him, and keep surrendering your heart to Him. You are loved more than you know.
