God,

I come to You feeling overwhelmed and afraid. You know everything that has happened in my past, and You know what is happening in my heart right now.

Please give me peace and clarity. If this man is good for me, please let this relationship unfold with honesty, safety, love and peace. If he is not good for me, please give me the wisdom and strength to see it clearly and walk away.

Please don’t let my past control my future. Heal the parts of my heart that are still frightened by what I’ve experienced before.

Protect me from deception, manipulation and relationships that aren’t meant for me. Help me recognise what is real without becoming consumed by fear.

God, I surrender this situation to You. I don’t need to know everything tonight. I just ask You to guide me, protect me and give me peace.

If this relationship is meant to be, let it be built on truth, mutual love, commitment and good intentions. If it isn’t, please close the door gently but firmly.

Please calm my mind tonight and remind me that I am not alone.

Amen.

We hear the deep anguish in your heart, and we want you to know that you are not alone, God hears you, and so do we. The pain, fear, and uncertainty you’re carrying are heavy, and we lift them up to the Lord with you. Your cry for peace, clarity, and healing is heard, and we stand with you in prayer, trusting that God will meet you in this moment.

First, we must address the weight of what you’re feeling. Suicidal thoughts are not something to carry alone, and we urge you to reach out to someone you trust, a pastor, a counselor, a friend, so you don’t have to face this darkness by yourself. God does not intend for you to walk through this valley alone, and He often works through the hands and hearts of His people to bring comfort and support. The Bible tells us, "The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit" (Psalm 34:18). You are seen, you are loved, and you are not forgotten.

Your prayer reveals a heart that is seeking God’s will, and that is a beautiful thing. However, we must gently address a few things in light of Scripture. You mention a "man" and a "relationship," and while we don’t know the specifics, we want to encourage you to align your desires with God’s design for relationships. If this man is not your husband, we must remind you that God’s plan for intimacy and commitment is within the covenant of marriage. The Bible is clear: "Marriage is honorable among all, and the bed undefiled; but fornicators and adulterers God will judge" (Hebrews 13:4). If this relationship involves physical intimacy outside of marriage, we must rebuke that sin and encourage you to flee from it, for your own protection and for the glory of God. True love waits, and true commitment is found in a godly marriage.

We also want to address the fear and pain from your past. It is understandable that past wounds would make you hesitant or afraid, but we serve a God who heals and restores. "He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds" (Psalm 147:3). We pray that God would break the chains of fear and shame that the enemy has used to keep you bound. You are not defined by your past, and God has a future for you that is filled with hope (Jeremiah 29:11). But we must also warn you: if this man is not a believer, or if he is not committed to honoring God in this relationship, you must be willing to walk away. "Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers" (2 Corinthians 6:14). Your heart is precious, and it deserves to be cherished by someone who loves God above all else.

Now, let us pray for you:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up this precious child of Yours who is hurting and afraid. Lord, You see the depths of her pain, and You know the burdens she carries. We ask that You would wrap Your arms around her tonight and fill her with Your peace that surpasses all understanding. Calm her mind, still her heart, and remind her that she is never alone, You are with her, and You will never leave her nor forsake her.

Father, we ask that You would give her clarity in this situation. If this man is not the one You have for her, give her the strength to walk away, no matter how hard it may be. If he is a godly man who loves You and is committed to honoring You in this relationship, then we pray that You would guide them both toward Your will. But Lord, we ask that You would protect her from deception, manipulation, and relationships that do not align with Your Word. Give her discernment to recognize what is real and what is not, and the courage to choose You above all else.

We also pray for healing in her heart. Lord, You are the Great Physician, and we ask that You would touch the places that are still wounded and afraid. Break the chains of fear and shame, and replace them with Your love and truth. Remind her that she is fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14), and that her worth is found in You alone.

Father, we surrender this situation into Your hands. We trust that You know what is best, and we ask that You would guide her steps. If this relationship is meant to be, let it be built on truth, mutual love, and a shared commitment to You. If it is not, then close the door gently but firmly, and open a new one that leads her closer to You.

Lastly, Lord, we ask that You would surround her with people who will love her, support her, and point her to You. Give her the strength to reach out for help when she needs it, and remind her that she is never alone. We pray all of this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Savior and Redeemer. Amen.

We encourage you to hold fast to God’s promises. You are not defined by your past, and your future is secure in Him. If this man is not the one God has for you, trust that He has someone better, or perhaps He is preparing you to walk this path alone for a season, so that you can grow closer to Him. Either way, God’s plans for you are good, and He will never abandon you. Keep seeking Him, keep trusting Him, and keep surrendering your heart to Him. You are loved more than you know.

We are so glad you reached out tonight. If you are in immediate danger, please contact your local emergency services right now. You are not alone, and trained people are ready to help. You can find a free, confidential helpline in your country at findahelpline.com.

We hear how overwhelmed and afraid you feel. The weight of your past and the uncertainty about this man are pressing hard, and it makes sense that your mind would race. Please don’t carry this by yourself. Reach out to someone near you if you can, a trusted friend, family member, or your local emergency services if you feel at risk of acting on thoughts of suicide. A counselor or doctor can also help you steady yourself as you sort through these feelings.

They can walk with you while you figure out what is real and safe. You do not need to know everything tonight, but you do need people around you. We are praying for your safety and for a clear mind, not just for the relationship question but for your whole heart.

Lord Jesus, please be near this person right now. Calm the racing thoughts and steady their mind. Protect them from despair and from any impulse to harm themselves. Give them wisdom and clarity about this relationship, and the courage to walk away if it is not good. Heal the places in their heart that are still frightened by the past. Surround them with people who can help them stay safe and get the support they need. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

The very breath of prayer now rising from your soul is proof that the Lord has not given you over to despair. But you have asked for peace while your eye is fixed upon a man. That is not the place where perfect peace is found. "Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee." Peace is not found in another human creature; it is found in Christ, whose blood cleanses the conscience and forgives the past.

First, I must speak plainly about the thought of self destruction. Do not lay violent hands upon the life God gave you. To do so would be to rush into the presence of your Judge in the very act of unbelief. Your life is not your own. Christ died for sinners, and while you breathe, the door of mercy is open. Flee from that black suggestion as from a murderer.

You have asked God to bless this relationship if the man is good for you. I cannot ask God to bless a relationship that His Word has not made lawful. A good thing before God is not merely what feels safe to a wounded heart. If he will not lead you to honourable marriage, the lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, then the thing is already condemned, however gently the door may seem to close. If he would draw you into any union that is not marriage, or into living together, or into any course that dishonours Christ, you need not ask for a softly shut door; you must flee. Do not seek pleasant signs; seek grace to obey.

That being said, the Lord knows the thoughts He thinks toward you, "thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end." Your own fears are not His thoughts. His thoughts are higher than yours, as the heavens are higher than the earth. The past is not your Lord. Christ has borne sin for all who trust Him, and "the blood of Jesus whispers peace within." "He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds." That is His own office. Bring your frightened heart to Him before you bring it to any creature.

You said you surrender the situation to God. Surrender it wholly. Do not hold back any part for your own management. Trust Him with the man, with the past, with tonight. "If you will not trust God, neither shall you have peace." If you trust Him, He will keep your mind in peace because it is stayed on Him.

May the Lord search your heart and make you willing to walk in the way everlasting. May He give you such a sight of Jesus Christ that every idol loses its power, every fear is swallowed up in love, and every thought of self destruction is silenced by His voice. Amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Thank you for sharing your heart so honestly when you feel overwhelmed and afraid. God knows everything that has happened in your past and He sees what is happening in your heart right now. He hears your prayer for peace and clarity, and you are not alone. Your life is precious to Him and to others who care for you.

If you are feeling suicidal or unsafe tonight, please reach out right away to someone you trust and let them stay with you. It could be a family member, a friend, a pastor, or a counselor, and please also contact a crisis helpline in your area. In the United States you can call or text 988, in Canada you can call 1-833-456-4566 or text 45645, in the United Kingdom you can call 116 123, and in other countries you can find help at Find A Helpline | Free emotional support in 130+ countries. You do not have to carry this fear by yourself, and reaching out tonight is an important step.

Your desire for healing is right and good. Past experiences can leave the heart frightened and quick to expect harm, and God does not want you to live in constant anxiety and dread. He offers to calm the mind, to free you from fear, and to establish you in security and peace as you walk with Him. He can heal the wounded places so that the past does not control your future. Keep bringing those fears honestly to Him, and also bring them into the light with a wise and caring person who can walk with you over time, such as a pastor or a biblical counselor who can know you and support you.

You asked for wisdom about this relationship, and God cares deeply about both your safety and your holiness. He calls us to love that is marked by truth, mutual respect, commitment and good intentions. He has designed marriage as a lifelong covenant between one man and one woman, and He has placed sexual intimacy and living together within that covenant for your protection and joy. That design helps you discern what is real. Pray not only for this relationship to continue, but for clear eyes to see it as it truly is and for strength to walk in what honors God and is truly good for you. Ask Him to protect you from deception and manipulation, to help you recognize what is real without being consumed by fear, and to give you courage to keep healthy boundaries. Consistent honesty, safety, respect for your boundaries, and a willingness to pursue commitment in a way that honors God are signs of good character that become clear over time. If those are not present, ask God to close the door gently but firmly and to give you strength to walk away, trusting that He will care for you.

I will pray for you now.

Father, in the name of Jesus Christ who alone is our salvation and hope, thank You that You see this dear one and know every detail of her past and present. Grant her peace that calms her mind tonight and reminds her that she is not alone. Heal the parts of her heart that are still frightened and free her from fear that would keep her bound. Give her wisdom and strength to see this relationship clearly, protect her from deception and harm, and guide her into what is true and safe. Teach her to cherish truth and commitment and to walk in purity and wisdom according to Your good design for love and marriage. Surround her with faithful people who will support and counsel her, and let her know that You are near, that You love her, and that her future is in Your hands. Amen.

Please keep reaching out for support. You are cared for, you are not forgotten, and help is available. If you can, tell someone you trust tonight how you are feeling so you do not face these thoughts alone.

Your honest prayer has been heard, and your pain and fear have been taken before the Lord with care. You are not alone, and you are not unseen. God knows everything that has happened in your past and He knows what is happening in your heart right now, and He invites you to bring that whole burden to Him.

If you are feeling overwhelmed to the point of wanting to end your life, please reach out right now to someone near you whom you trust, a pastor, a counselor, a doctor, or a crisis helpline in your area, and let them stay with you. Your life has value to God, and He wants to help you through this darkness. You do not have to carry this alone.

Scripture teaches that your relationship with God is the center axis upon which your whole life turns. When that vertical relationship is out of balance, every other relationship feels out of balance as well. When that relationship is made right, it begins to bring order and clarity to every other part of life, including how you relate to others, how you handle what you own, and how you stand against the enemy. Trying to fix one human relationship while your walk with God is neglected only adds strain. The first and most important step is to have peace with God Himself.

God has made a way for that peace through the blood of Jesus Christ. Through His atonement your sins can be forgiven and the war between you and God can be over. He holds out a peace treaty to those who have been at enmity with Him, and He says, peace, peace to those who are far off and to those who are near, I will heal them. When you receive His forgiveness, that inner turmoil begins to quiet. The wisdom that comes from above is peaceable. It first brings peace with God, then peace within your own heart and mind, and then it helps you to live at peace with others. Those who sow in peace reap a harvest of righteousness.

That is why the fear of the Lord is the beginning and the sum of wisdom. To fear the Lord is not to live in terror, but to love and reverence Him so deeply that you hate evil and turn away from it. That reverence is the starting place for clear thinking. It brings health to the soul and clarity to the mind, and it gives discernment to recognize what is true and what is false. Without it, people may say peace, peace when there is no peace, and offer false comfort. With it, you learn to depart from what is harmful and to honor God with your life and choices.

This is directly connected to your prayer for this relationship. God wants every human relationship to be strengthened by your relationship with Him, not to replace it. The most important human bond, marriage, is meant to be a lifelong covenant between one man and one woman, and any relationship that moves toward that must be built on truth, safety, mutual love, commitment, purity and good intentions. Sex and living together belong within that covenant alone. Anything that asks you to compromise truth, safety, or purity, or that uses manipulation or deception, is not from God. Sowing to please selfish desires reaps corruption, while sowing what is pure and peaceable reaps life.

So bring your desire for love and clarity back to that center. Ask God to make your walk with Him right first, and then to help you see this man clearly. A relationship that honors God will be marked by honesty, respect, self control, kindness, and a pursuit of peace, not by confusion, pressure, or fear. It will show compassion, courtesy, and a willingness to do good rather than return evil for evil. It will seek peace and pursue it.

You prayed not to let the past control your future, and God can heal the frightened places in your heart. He does not want you to live consumed by fear, nor does He want you to ignore warning signs. He wants to calm your mind with the peace that passes understanding, the peace that guards heart and mind in Christ when you have made peace with Him.

Praying for you now:

Father, thank You that You know this dear one fully and love her. Thank You that You sent Jesus to shed His blood so that we can have atonement and peace with You. I ask that You forgive sins, heal what is wounded from the past, and quiet the inner war with Your presence. Fill her heart with Your peaceable wisdom, teach her to reverence You and to hate what is evil, and give her clear discernment to recognize what is real and to be protected from deception and manipulation. If this relationship can be built on truth, mutual love, commitment and godly intentions leading toward marriage as You have designed it, give it honesty, safety and peace. If it is not good and not from You, close the door gently but firmly and give her strength to walk away and to keep pursuing You. Remind her that she is not alone, that You are near, and that her life is precious to You. Guide her step by step, and help her to reach out for support from people around her. In the name of Jesus, Amen.

Keep bringing your heart to God honestly, stay in His Word, and keep trusted, godly people close to you as you seek His direction.
