Please God help me

Your tongue is too quick to call evil what God, in His inscrutable wisdom, has permitted for your training. Is the college itself wicked, or do you speak from the bitterness of a wounded pride? A nurse learns to tend broken bodies; have you forgotten that the soul must first be healed of its own fevers, its rash judgments and panicked demands? You beg in the name of Jesus for swift escape, yet the Lord often delays outward deliverance precisely to work an inward one. Remember the Syrophoenician woman: He met her urgent need first with silence, then with a word sharper than a sword, calling her a dog, yet her persistent faith won the crumb she sought. Are you willing to wait upon His timing, even if the answer tarries past your ten days?

Christ Jesus redeemed us from the curse of the Law by becoming a curse for us, hanging on a tree. If you are in Him, no failing score, no academic stumbling block, can place you back under a curse. Why then do you speak as one forsaken? Your true life is hidden with Christ in God, and when He appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory. An exam cannot threaten that life. But you treat this exit test as though your very existence depended on it, and so you have surrendered the peace that is your inheritance. The disciples once cried, “Whence should we have so many loaves in a wilderness?” forgetting the very hands that had already multiplied bread. Do not now look at the smallness of your own knowledge and the largeness of the task and despair. He who fed five thousand with a boy’s lunch knows your need and can grant you calm recall and clarity of mind, if it serves your salvation.

Set your heart on better things. Use these remaining days diligently; pour over your books as a servant of the sick, asking God for remembrance rather than resenting the place He has stationed you. Do not flee the program as if it were Sodom unless it forces you to deny Christ or violate His commandments. A nurse’s hands can be the hands of mercy, and perhaps the very hardship of this trial is meant to strip you of self-reliance so that you will lean upon grace alone. If you pass, give thanks with trembling. If you fail, believe that a door has been shut for a season so that a truer door may open. In either case, your life remains hid in the pierced side of the Savior, where no curse can reach and no earthly disappointment can destroy. So stop calling evil what you cannot see clearly, and entrust yourself to the One who is able to keep you from stumbling.

I can feel the desperation in your words, and I want you to know that kind of honest, raw cry is exactly what God welcomes. You’re not coming to him with tidy phrases; you’re running into his presence like a child who grabs a father by the sleeve and says, “Dad, I’m in real trouble.” That is not weakness, that’s the relationship he wants with you. Jesus himself told us to come boldly. So keep pouring it out.

Your situation reminds me of a pattern that shows up throughout Scripture, and I think it may help you right now. When God sent Moses to Pharaoh to demand release for the Hebrew people, Moses obeyed, yet everything got worse. The labor became harder, the officers were beaten, and the people turned against him. Moses cried out, “Why did you send me? You’ve only done evil to this people and haven’t delivered them at all.” That’s a desperate prayer. But God wasn’t absent. He was setting the stage for a deliverance so mighty that no one could mistake who did it. Sometimes the pressure increases right before the breakthrough, the failed exam, the ten-day clock, the sense of being trapped. That does not mean he has broken his promise. It may be the very place he is teaching you to lean on him with everything you have.

At the same time, prayer is not a substitute for action. There is a time to pray and a time to move. Those ten days are your move. Study with focus, use every resource, and then cover that effort in prayer, trusting God to multiply your diligence. He is the one who promises, “I am the Lord who heals you”, and that can extend to calming your mind, sharpening your memory, and giving you clarity when you sit down for that retake.

I would also gently ask you to reflect on how you view the college. You call it “evil,” and I don’t doubt you’re facing real spiritual hostility. But often God places his people inside difficult systems not only so they can get out, but so they can be shaped and even become a light while they are there. Be careful that your desire for escape doesn’t turn into a compromise where you’re willing to leave part of your heart behind, like Pharaoh’s offer to let the men go but keep the children. Let God deliver you completely, not just from a failed exam, but from any fear, any compromise, any trust in your own strength.

The same God who watched over a tiny baby set adrift in a basket on the Nile is watching over you. Your future isn’t in the hands of an exam board. It rests in the hands of a Father who loves you. So keep praying. Then get to work. And look for the day you walk out of that program knowing, not just hoping, that the God who hears the cry of the oppressed has heard you.

Thank you I needed this and is still in need of prayer. Keep them coming!

We want to thank you for the privilege of standing with you in prayer during this challenging time. It has been our heart’s desire to lift you up before the Lord, asking Him to grant you wisdom, clarity, and favor as you prepare for this critical exam. We know how deeply you desire to succeed and move forward in the calling God has placed on your life.

If, by His grace, you’ve seen His hand move in these past few days—whether through renewed focus, peace in your heart, or unexpected breakthroughs—we would love to hear a praise report so we can rejoice with you. If, however, the weight of this trial still feels heavy and the outcome remains uncertain, please know we are still here to stand with you. You are not alone in this battle, and we encourage you to post this request again so we may continue to pray fervently on your behalf.

May the Lord strengthen your mind, steady your hands, and fill you with His peace that surpasses all understanding as you press forward. We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus, trusting that He is working even now for your good. Keep seeking Him, for He is faithful to complete the work He has begun in you.
