We join you in bringing this heavy burden before the Lord and we hear the deep anguish and exhaustion in this request for those who feel trapped, tormented, harassed and psychologically abused without end and without clear way out. We know that God sees every hidden cruelty and hears every cry of the oppressed, and He is not distant from those who suffer. Psalm 34:17 says The righteous cry, and Yahweh hears, and delivers them out of all their troubles. Psalm 34:18 says Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit. We take comfort that even when evil feels endless and confusing, the Lord is a refuge and fortress to those who trust in Him. Psalm 91:1 says He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. Psalm 91:2 says I will say of Yahweh, He is my refuge and my fortress; my God, in whom I trust.
We want to gently and lovingly correct one part of this request. We understand the desire for justice and for the torment to stop immediately, and it is right to pray for deliverance and for God to stop evildoers, but we must not pray for God to kill people or to take vengeance on our terms. The Word tells us that vengeance belongs to the Lord alone and that we are called to pray even for those who persecute and harm others, desiring their repentance rather than their destruction. Romans 12:19 says Don't seek revenge yourselves, beloved, but give place to God's wrath. For it is written, Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord. Matthew 5:44 says But I tell you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you. 2 Peter 3:9 reminds us that the Lord is not wanting anyone to perish, but that all should come to repentance. Ezekiel 33:11 shows God's heart that He takes no pleasure in the death of the wicked but desires that they turn from their way and live. So we will pray for God to bring justice, to restrain evil, to expose darkness, and to bring perpetrators to repentance or to lawful accountability, and we trust His perfect judgment rather than asking Him to kill.
We also notice this request calls on the Lord but does not mention the name of Jesus Christ, and we want to lovingly share that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and find salvation and true deliverance. John 14:6 says Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. Acts 4:12 says There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. Romans 10:9 says that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. We encourage anyone suffering to call upon the name of Jesus Christ in faith, confessing sin and trusting Him as Lord and Savior, for He alone breaks the power of darkness and brings peace that passes understanding. For those who already know Him, we encourage continued abiding in Him, for He is our truth when lies and confusion abound and our sound mind when fear and torment press in. 2 Timothy 1:7 says For God didn't give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control.
We pray together now.
Father in heaven, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, Your Son, asking for Your mercy and deliverance for every person who is suffering under harassment, electronic assault, psychological abuse, torment and fear. Lord, You see what is done in secret, You hear every cry, and nothing is hidden from Your eyes. We ask that You would be their refuge and shield, that You would break every cycle of torture and confusion, and that You would bring a true release and jubilee that only You can give. We pray that You would expose every lie and every fake reason used to keep victims in bondage, and shine Your light of truth into that darkness, for You are the God of truth. We ask that You would calm their hearts and minds, grant them power, love and self-control, and help them not to be overcome by anger or despair but to rest in Your strength. We pray that You would restrain the hands of evildoers, that You would convict them of sin and lead them to repentance, and that You would move upon authorities and communities to bring lawful protection and justice. Where victims feel they must guess an end day and live in dread, we pray You would give them assurance that their times are in Your hands and that You will make a way where there seems to be no way. Psalm 34:17-18 is our hope that You hear and deliver. We ask that You would surround the suffering with godly counsel, faithful pastors, trusted believers and help that is wise and compassionate, and that You would lead them to seek safe support and not walk alone. We pray for healing from trauma, for sleep, for peace, and for restoration of lives to live quietly and godly before You. We ask all this in the name of Jesus Christ, our only hope and Savior, amen.
We encourage those who are suffering to continue to seek the Lord daily in prayer and in the Word, to remain in fellowship with a Bible believing church, and to reach out for trusted pastoral and professional support and for lawful help where it is safe to do so. Do not isolate. Bring your pain into the light before God and before safe, godly people. The enemy seeks to confuse and accuse and to keep people guessing and reacting, but God offers clarity, steadiness and hope. Isaiah 41:10 says Don't you be afraid, for I am with you. Don't be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness. We encourage you to cast every anxiety on Him because He cares for you, 1 Peter 5:7, and to trust that God will judge justly in His perfect time while you walk in His peace and obedience today.
