You hold your son before the Lord with the same tender vigilance a shepherd carries a lamb. And the good news is that the Shepherd never sleeps. When the shadows lengthen and the house grows quiet, and your own heart wrestles with the restlessness that seems to hover over that little bed, remember that Someone is already there. Long ago, a man lay down in a barren place, exhausted and unaware, and woke to the staggering truth: “The Lord is in this place, and I did not know it.” The darkness does not hide Him. The anxious thoughts that circle in the night are not hidden from His eye. He is present in your son’s room, attending to every tremor of his spirit with a care that goes deeper than your own.

The sheep inside the fold pass under the shepherd’s hand as evening falls. He checks for burrs, for cuts, for any place where the day’s wandering has left a wound. That is what your son experiences now. The agitation at mealtime, the confusion over schedules, the rigid habits and sensory battles, each one is a spot the Shepherd already sees. He is not impatient with these things. He runs His hand gently over every fear, every physical discomfort, every hidden source of torment. The same voice that calls the stars by name calls your son by his, and in the deep places where words fail, his spirit can still recognize that voice and settle.

Think of a father who refused to stop praying for a child long after the reasonable years had passed, and how the answer came wrapped in a promise so surprising that everyone asked, “What kind of child will this be?” Your persistence matters. As long as there is breath, there is hope that God will be gracious and bring relief. Your son is alive, and you are pleading before the throne, this is not nothing. It is the very posture that moved the heart of the Lord toward David when David fasted and wept for his child. You stand in that line, laying hold of mercy even in the small hours when the moon climbs high and the noises of the house settle.

There is a shield for the night season. The psalm says the sun will not smite by day nor the moon by night, a promise that reaches toward every mental assault, every inexplicable dread, every spiritual attack that masquerades as mere behavioral challenge. The Lord preserves the mind. He preserves the going out and the coming in. As you ask for protection over travel, over transitions, over each room and vehicle, you are speaking in agreement with what He already decrees: a hedge, a covering, a wing to shelter under. No weapon formed against his peace will prosper.

That story of a man who dreamed he held a sick little baby, prayed, and saw healing come, only to wake and later meet that very child, it reminds us that God’s mercy can reach inside a body and rewrite what pain has written. You asked for an anointing on your son’s meals, that his stomach would calm, that the torment would lift. Do not underestimate what a gentle touch from Jesus can accomplish. The same power that mended a burned and convulsing stomach in that story can quiet the rebellion in your son’s own gut, loosen the grip of sensory distress, and turn a confused, agitated mealtime into a place of quiet satisfaction. The Shepherd knows what it is to lead this particular lamb beside still waters, and He will do it.

When your son wakes, the night’s anxieties can feel like they have the first word, but they do not. Morning breaks and the Shepherd stands at the door of the fold, calling His own out by name. They know His voice, and they follow. That means every rigid pattern, every stubborn fear, every obsessive loop is subject to being broken by a single word from the One who commands peace. As you declare healing over autism, PTSD, sensory challenges, and every negative habit, you are simply echoing what the cross already purchased. By His stripes, your son is healed. That is not a formula; it is a settled reality that you now press into place over every restless nerve and confused thought.

So tonight, picture your son passed from your hands into the arms of the One who never loses a sheep. The child who protests change, who wrestles food, who startles at sounds, this child is known completely, loved entirely, and held securely. The agitation that rises is not beyond the reach of a quieting word from Jesus. He can wrap your boy in a peace that he does not yet have the words to understand. Let the household rest in this: the Shepherd is awake. His hand is under your son’s head. No nightmare, no spiritual attack, no physical distress can drive Him away. He will bring your son through the night watches and present him in the morning with a steadier heart.
