The day is calling us to battle-array, and to the fight. Yet fear not at hearing of array and arms. For it is of Light the arms are! They will set thee forth brighter than the sunbeam, and they place thee in security. The night is far spent, the day is at hand. Let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light. This present time is night because of those who sit in darkness, but the day is at hand for the faithful who enjoy that light. Let us walk honestly as in the day.

Now this is no light charge against the enemies of our peace, when they behold the miracles and do all just contrary. But see the earnestness of your cry, and of your prayer itself. For you do not merely approach Him, but with loud cries, and alleging nought else but mercy. Prayer is a great weapon. We need favorable winds; we need to learn everything, so as to go through the length of the day without shipwrecks and without wounds. For every single day the rocks are many, and oftentimes the boat strikes and is sunk. Therefore have we especially need of prayer early and by night. And it is a good thing to enjoy the prayer of the Saints, but it is when we ourselves also are on the alert. Do not say, what need have I of prayer? On this account thou needest it, because thou thinkest that thou hast no need.

So that even he that eateth, if in ignorance, may be rid of anxiety. For such is the nature of those things which are not in their essence evil, but through the man's intention make him unclean. Wherefore, asking no question, cast off the torment about the meals. He Himself drank of the cup first, leading them to the calm participation of the mysteries, that they might not be troubled. If this worketh remission of sins, as it surely doth work it, the other is now superfluous. Remove all rigidity of thought, for the Scriptures bring patience, and patience hope, and both of them are brought about by the Scriptures, that being nerved and comforted we might not fall away.

And lest, hearing of a garden, you should think it strange, remember that He ofttimes was with them apart in mountains and gardens, seeking a place free from disturbance, that their attention might not be distracted. So let your household be a garden free from disturbance, where He often resorts. He had so freed them from fear that they no longer resisted but entered with Him.

That all men through Him might believe, and that being established in thorough security and liberty, you may declare the miraculous healing with a faith that sees the future night where sin has no power to work. The day is calling you; put on the armor of light, and find rest not in the absence of the storm, but in the peace of the Commander who makes even the fight a solemn feast-day.

Your words carry the weight of a mother’s love and the strength of faith that refuses to let go. What you’ve poured out is more than a request; it’s the daily, aching, beautiful act of trusting Jesus with the life you hold so dear. And here is the truth that steadies us when the storm rages around someone we love: Jesus is not distant from your son’s struggle. He isn’t watching from heaven, unmoved. The Scriptures tell us that He bore our infirmities and carried our sorrows. That isn’t just a promise for your own heart’s forgiveness, precious as that is. It reaches right down into the body and the mind. When He took bread and broke it, saying, “This is my body, broken for you,” He wasn’t only addressing the soul’s need for salvation. The bread speaks to wholeness, to the mending of what is torn, the calming of what is tormented. Your son’s need for peace at the table, for quiet in his spirit at night, for a mind free from confusion, all of this is held in the meaning of that broken body.

One thing we know about the way Jesus heals is that He never locked Himself into a single method. Sometimes He spoke a word, and a fever lifted miles away. Other times He touched. Once, He made mud and placed it on blind eyes. Another time, the disciples brought a man to Him, and Jesus led him outside the village, spit on his eyes, and the man began to see, but it came in stages: “I see men as trees, walking.” Then Jesus touched him again, and his sight was made clear and whole. A gradual healing. The only one recorded exactly like that. Why such variety? To show that He is the healer, not the method. There is no rigid pattern for you or your son to strain against. The release from torment at meals may come in that quiet, gradual way, a moment of less anxiety tonight, a few minutes of calm eating tomorrow. Those small shifts are not less divine than an instant miracle. A doctor’s skill, a sudden insight for a caregiver, the slow rewiring of neural pathways, the peace that comes in a dream, all of it is under the same hand that commanded the wind and waves into stillness.

You asked for a sleep that surpasses understanding, and you rest that request on the presence of Jesus where two or three gather in His name. Remember that Jesus Himself could sleep in a storm. While the boat shook and filled with water and the disciples screamed in terror, He was in the stern, asleep on a cushion. The storm did not wake Him; their cry did. When He rose, He rebuked the wind and the sea, and there was a great calm. That same authority is the inheritance of your son, not because you have found the perfect formula of words, but because he is a child of the Most High, wrapped in the full armor of God. The deep sleep that fell on Saul’s camp, the peaceful rest that can guard a home when every natural instinct screams for vigilance, these are glimpses of what the Spirit can do. Pray boldly that the Lord Jesus Himself would stand watch tonight, that He would command any internal tempest in your son’s mind and body to be still while he rests, so his caregivers and your entire household can sleep in safety.

The battle with food, the return of torment at meals, this is not a sign of defeat. In Scripture, we see that even after a great healing, the enemy does not always retreat quietly. The man born blind was healed so powerfully that the religious leaders interrogated him, threw him out of the synagogue, and scorned him. Yet Jesus, hearing he had been cast out, went and found him. The healing was real, and the One who healed him was with him in the rejection that followed. Your son’s struggle at the table is known fully by Jesus. There is no confusion or rigidity that can outlast His patience. He knows what sensory storm is firing in that moment. Ask Him to stand at your son’s side, to gently hold his hand, and to replace the feeling of threat with a deep, bodily satisfaction. There may be days it seems the old pattern is back, but the One who began a good work will be faithful to complete it.

You also grieve that anyone might view your son as a burden, or that division might touch his bonds with his siblings. The Lord who sets the solitary in families is jealous for those relationships. He can knit hearts together with threads stronger than any disability can fray. Jesus was often far more at ease with those the world overlooked. He defended the woman who anointed His feet against the scorn of the self-righteous. He will defend your son against any word curse, any plot of isolation, any spirit that seeks to brand him as less. Your prayer for godly people to surround him, caregivers, mentors, advocates, is a prayer after God’s own heart. He may send them quietly, just as He provided those faithful women who supported Jesus’ ministry from their own substance. He may already be preparing someone with a spirit of true advocacy and compassion who will listen to you and fight alongside you.

Do not be disturbed if you cannot see the full healing every moment. The farmer sows seed, then sleeps and rises night and day, and the seed sprouts and grows, he himself does not know how. First the blade, then the head, then the full grain in the head. Tonight, the blade may simply be a quiet meal. Tomorrow, the head may be a morning without agitation. The full grain is coming. There are gradual workings of restoration that are just as divine as the instant sensation of strength flooding back. Whether it is a healing you physically feel, or a quiet release that a caregiver notices days later, it all flows from Jesus, who bore your son’s infirmities.

Keep praying with the same relentless trust. When you declare healing by the stripes of Jesus, you are not making a desperate wish; you are standing on solid, scriptural ground. His body was broken for the wholeness of mind, body, soul, and spirit. So right now, join your heart with this truth: The covering of the precious blood of Jesus is over your son, from the top of his head to the soles of his feet. The Prince of Peace is in the boat with him tonight. Let every storm within him hear the command: “Peace, be still.” And may every person in your home rest, guarded by the God who neither slumbers nor sleeps, until the morning light brings fresh mercies and another day of His healing, faithful work.
