Peaceful Night

You have poured out your heart in prayer, and this is good, for the fervent prayer of a mother avails much. But now I would strengthen you with this word: "Do not suffer your foot to be moved." The suffering depends on us. When the enemy stirs up agitation and confusion in your son, as if a storm were raging in his soul, stand steadfast and unmoveable. Let not your own spirit be shaken. For the Lord who keeps Israel neither slumbers nor sleeps. He watches over your son even in the night season, when these torments arise. The disturbance is like a dark sleep of the soul that the wicked one would cast upon him, but you, by your prayer, are keeping vigil. Remain sober and watchful. For it is in our power always to have it day, always to watch. The sleep of vice and the drunkenness of worldly passions are what truly threaten; but bodily restlessness, even if it come with confusion, cannot harm the soul that is guarded by faith.

Remember the good Shepherd. He lays down His life for the sheep; He needs no command to care for His own. Your son is His sheep, and no one can snatch him out of His hand. The agitation, the fear, the rigid habits, these are like thorns and briers in a field, but the Shepherd knows how to clear them away. Do not think that because the trouble returns, your prayers fall short. A tree that is struck ten times and does not fall may yet be brought down by the eleventh blow, but it is the ten strokes that made the last effectual. So it is with prayer. Even when you see no immediate change, the very persistence of your supplication is weakening the power of the enemy. One day, suddenly, the peace you seek will come and remain.

Consider also the saints in affliction. Paul and Silas, with backs torn by scourges and feet fast in the stocks, at midnight sang praises to God. What can be more adamantine than such souls? They did not focus on the pain or the darkness but on the Lord who was with them. So do you, in the midnight of this trial, lift up hymns and thanksgivings. Sing not only for deliverance but for the very trial itself, for it is permitted that the strength of Christ may be made perfect in weakness. Your son's soul, even in its distress, can be a beacon if you do not despair.

Do not be troubled that he seems to sleep fitfully or wake in torment. Bodily sleep is not the greatest concern; rather, pray that his soul may be awake to God. For the fear of the Lord, even in a simple heart, brings a composed and decent sleep, free from wild fancies. As far as he is able, let him be surrounded with an atmosphere of godliness. And for what he cannot yet grasp, your faith covers him, as the roof covered the paralytic let down before Jesus.

Above all, do not sink under the weight of this care. The heathen say, "Bear it manfully, for what is done cannot be undone." But we say, "Bear it manfully, for he will surely rise again." The child sleeps and is not dead; he is at rest and has not perished. These nightly attacks are but phantoms, fleeting as dreams. The reality is the eternal life won for him by Christ. Even now, by the stripes of Jesus, healing is at work. You have seen him seizure-free for months; this is a token of the full restoration to come. Do not let the present setback cause you to forget the former mercies.

The Day of the Lord comes as a thief to those who sleep the sleep of sin, but to you who watch and are sober, it will come as a royal messenger summoning you to joy. Until then, stand your ground. Rebuke the enemy in Jesus' name, but then rest in the Shepherd's care. He who stilled the storm with a word is in the boat with you. He may seem to sleep, but He knows the wind and the waves. Trust Him. Your son will yet have peaceful nights, calm meals, and a quiet spirit. The thorns will be uprooted. Watch, pray, and do not waver. The Lord has dealt bountifully with you, and He will do so again.

Your words carry the heavy heart of a mother who has spent many nights standing watch. I hear the exhaustion mingled with fierce faith. When the nights are disrupted by agitation and confusion, it can feel like the storm has rushed into your very home while the one you love is tossed by waves you cannot calm with your own hands. Yet remember, the one who slept in the stern of the boat during the gale is not indifferent to your son’s turmoil. His peace is not fragile; it is a deep, unshakable rest that He can speak into any soul, even one that seems tormented.

Consider this: the Lord is never caught off guard by a disrupted schedule or a late nap. He who arranged the census of an entire empire so that a child would be born in exactly the right stable in Bethlehem is the same God ordering the details of your son’s life. No setback in a routine, no unexpected agitation, is outside the reach of His meticulous care. His goal is not merely a calm night, but the deep, enduring wholeness of your child. Trust that in the seeming chaos, His hand is as steady as it was over that manger.

You have prayed against torment and spiritual attack, and rightly so, for even the smallest and most vulnerable are precious in His sight. He set a little child in the midst of squabbling adults to teach them about the kingdom, and He warned of the severe consequences of despising one of these little ones. Your son is not forgotten in his struggle. The mind and body that seem to war against him are known in every detail by his Creator. When the pain of his own internal storms seems greater than the comfort offered, cry out to the One who holds the child and heals the raw, convulsing places that no one else can see.

Your prayer for peace that surpasses understanding is a prayer in perfect alignment with His will. Do not let the repetition of the need discourage you. The wrestling in prayer is not a sign of an absent God but of a mother who, like the woman who poured out her soul before the altar, is giving her child back to the Lord. You are not merely reciting words; you are actively placing your son into the arms of the only One who can command the storm within him to be still.

When you speak of rebuking negative habits, frame it this way in your heart: you are not just fighting against behaviors, but you are cooperating with His patient training. Think of how a child learns to walk. Stumbles and falls are expected. You do not throw the child down in frustration over the fall, but you also do not let them crawl forever. You gently take the hand, steady the wobbling legs, and guide them. So it is with his spirit and mind. The Lord’s instruction is fitted to your son’s unique way. The setbacks are not a final destination; they are the stumbles of a child learning to stand upright in the peace of God. The rod of His correction is not a club of condemnation but a shepherd’s staff that gently pulls the sheep back from the brambles of confusion and restlessness.

As for the night, the Scripture says that when you lie down, your sleep will be sweet. The Lord gives to His beloved sleep, even in the midst of their enemies. Those who eat the bread of anxiety and drink the wine of turmoil find their sleep stolen, but your son is marked for a different table. You have asked for a meal of peace, a satisfied body, and a calm spirit. This is the portion of a child of God. Do not give sleep to your own eyes in anxious fretting, but rather, with the authority of a parent who knows the Shepherd’s voice, speak calm to the night. The True Shepherd lay down as the door of the sheepfold, placing His own body between the flock and any predator. No torment, no fear, can cross over Him to reach your child. He has already stood in the gap.

It is good to move beyond the rote prayers of childhood and cry out with the specific, heartfelt pleas you have voiced. You are doing that. Now, do not let your heart be troubled by the length of the battle. The promise is that He will deliver you out of all your distresses, not some, but all. The little child standing in the middle of the disciples was not a perfect, untroubled child, but a simple, humble one. Your son’s value is not in a perfectly calm night, but in who he is: a soul for whom Christ died. That reality will settle his spirit more than any perfectly managed schedule.

Therefore, rest your own spirit tonight. Entrust him to the God who keeps His promises. The showers of blessing will come in their season. The healing, the restoration, the peaceful sleep, it is coming. God keeps His word. Take courage. Think of the mother who would rather give up her child than see him harmed. The wisdom of God cuts through every confusing voice to preserve life and restore peace. That same discerning, protective love is over your son and your household tonight. Let everyone in your home find their rest in that shelter. The Lord who brought forth His Son in the stillness of the night is even now causing the dawn of His peace to break over your family.

We want to thank you for the privilege of standing in agreement with you in prayer for your son and your entire family. It has been our heart’s joy to lift him before the throne of grace, asking our Heavenly Father to surround him with peace, healing, and protection. We have prayed fervently that every spiritual attack, confusion, and restlessness would be broken in Jesus’ name, and that his nights and days would be filled with the kind of peace that surpasses all understanding.

If the Lord has already answered these prayers—if your son has experienced restful sleep, calmness, and joy—we would love to hear a praise report so we can rejoice with you. If, however, the battles continue or new challenges have arisen, please do not hesitate to post this request again. We are committed to standing with you in prayer until the victory is fully manifested.

We continue to declare God’s healing over your son’s mind, body, soul, and spirit. We pray that every area of discomfort, anxiety, or sensory challenge would be touched by the power of the Holy Spirit. May the Lord remove all rigidity, stubbornness, and negative habits, replacing them with His perfect peace, wisdom, and godly character. We ask for a fresh anointing upon his meals, his schedule, and every interaction, so that he may experience only calmness, satisfaction, and joy.

We also lift up your family, praying for unity, patience, and understanding among you all. May the bond between your son and his siblings grow stronger in love, and may every relationship in his life be filled with compassion, encouragement, and godly support. We ask the Lord to provide additional caregivers, mentors, and friends who will speak life into his journey and advocate for his best.

Father, we thank You for Your faithfulness and for the power of prayer. We trust that You are working even now, bringing breakthrough, restoration, and miracles in every area of this precious family’s life. May Your name be glorified, and may Your peace reign in their home.

We pray all these things in the mighty and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
