Silas
Beloved of All
Your faithful love for your son and your persistent prayers are heard by the Lord, and we join you in bringing him before the throne of grace again. Thank you for sharing both the thanksgiving for a peaceful night and the burden for the confusion and agitation he experienced today. The Lord sees every detail of his struggle with meals, sensory needs, hygiene and rest, and He sees your heart as a parent who longs for his wholeness.
We come to Jesus as He truly is, both the Son of David and the Son of God. As the Son of David He is the promised Messiah, fully man who understands our weakness, and as the Son of God He is Mighty God, Wonderful Counselor and Prince of Peace, given to us from the Father. When two blind men heard He was passing by they cried out for mercy, and though the crowd told them to be quiet they cried out all the more, and Jesus stood still and answered them. In the same way we can keep crying out for mercy for your son, knowing the Lord stands still to hear. He is the One who spoke a word in Cana and healed the nobleman's son many miles away, showing that distance, confusion and distress are no barrier to His power. He does the works of His Father and gives life to whom He will, and all judgment has been given to Him so that all may honor the Son even as they honor the Father. To trust the Son is to have the Father, and to believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God, is to have life in His name.
We believe Jesus heals both soul and body. Scripture declares by His stripes we are healed, and we can trust Him for physical healing as well as spiritual healing. At the same time we acknowledge that we do not fully understand His ways in healing. Some healings in the Gospels were immediate and some were gradual, and there is only one recorded gradual healing in His ministry to show that He works in different ways. Every true healing process is from God, whether it comes in a moment or through the natural processes He Himself created in the body and mind. He also brings healing to memories, emotions and the deep wounds of fear and trauma. Even when we cannot see the full outward change at once, we can trust that He is working to bring peace to the mind and heart, replacing torment and anxiety with calm and clarity.
That peace is central to what Jesus gives. He said, My peace I leave with you, my peace I give to you, not as the world gives. The world cannot give lasting calm, but the peace of God guards the heart and mind. Scripture always puts grace before peace, because we must first have peace with God through grace before we can experience the peace of God daily. As you have prayed from Philippians 4:7, we ask that the peace that surpasses understanding will guard your son's heart and mind, calming the storm within him, covering every sound and sensation that overwhelms him, and resting on him as he eats, rests, watches his shows, travels and interacts with caregivers and visitors.
We also pray for protection. The name of the Lord is a strong tower, and those who run into it are safe, and He gives His angels charge over His children to keep them. Where there is confusion, witchcraft or words spoken to harm, there cannot be true peace, for peace only comes from the Lord. We ask the Lord to rebuke every spirit of torment, confusion and agitation and to command what is not of Him to flee in the name of Jesus. We pray that every harmful influence and every word curse would be rendered powerless by the blood of Jesus, and that your home, every room, every door and window, and every vehicle would be covered by His presence. For your daughter we pray that the Lord would restore love and unity in the family and give her wisdom to walk in truth and in love. We do not ask God to bless any relationship outside His design for marriage between one man and one woman, but we ask Him to surround her and your son with godly friendships and mentors who will encourage what is pure, kind and honoring to Him, and to remove any relationship that brings division, burden or havoc.
We bring your son's daily needs to the Lord. We ask for calm and satisfaction around meals, that he would eat peacefully without confusion, waste or distress, and that any stomach discomfort would be healed. We ask for grace over sensory needs, clothing, shaving and hygiene, that stubbornness and anxiety would be replaced with cooperation, gratefulness and a gentle confidence to express his wants and needs in a calm manner. We pray for sweet and restful sleep and for joy, gentleness and obedience to mark his days and nights. We pray for his caregivers, that God would give them wisdom, patience, compassion, strength and gentleness to bring out the best in him, and for his support coordinator to have understanding and a true heart of advocacy. We thank God with you for keeping him seizure free these many months and for the victories already seen, and we ask for continued freedom from anxiety, negative habits and self injury, with those patterns replaced by godly and healthy ways of communicating and living.
May the Father who did not withhold His only Son, whom He loves, but gave Him for us, show you again how deeply He understands a parent's love and how fully He has provided for your son through that gift. We declare healing, peace and restoration over your son's life and over your household, trusting not in our words but in the power of Jesus Christ alone.
Father, in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son, we lift this precious son to You. Wash him and cover him from the top of his head to the soles of his feet, cleanse his mind, body and spirit, break the chains of fear, anxiety and painful memories, and fill him with Your Holy Spirit, with calm, joy, satisfaction and obedience. Let Your peace guard his heart and mind, let Your protection surround him, and let Your healing work continue in every part of his life according to Your perfect will. Grant his family unity, wisdom and rest, and let Your grace and peace be upon this home. Amen.
