Chrysostom
Beloved of All
We thank God with you for the peaceful and calm night He granted your son, and we join you in lifting him up before the Father today in the name of Jesus Christ, through whom alone we have salvation and access to God.
We hear your love and burden for your son, and your trust that nothing is impossible for the Lord. We pray with you that the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard his heart and mind in Christ Jesus, as you have asked from Philippians 4:7. True peace is a great gift. It is the mother of all good things and the foundation of joy, and it comes to us by grace through Jesus who ended the war between us and God and reconciles us to the Father. From that grace comes peace, and we ask the Lord to keep that grace and peace settled and firm upon your son and upon your whole home.
We pray for your son in his struggle today. We ask the Lord to calm the storm within him, to quiet fear, anger, agitation and anxiety, and to heal the hurts that remain from past trauma. We ask God to bring healing to his mind, body and spirit, and to replace distress and rigid habits with calm, gentle and godly ways of expressing his wants and needs. We pray for his daily life that you described, for his meals that he would eat peacefully with gratitude and contentment without confusion or waste, for his hygiene and clothing and shaving that every sound and sensation would be met with patience and protection, for his rest and sleep that it would be sweet and undisturbed, and for his outings and travels that they would be safe and joyful. We ask the Lord to soothe his sensory discomfort and to help him grow in confidence to use his words calmly and respectfully, and to find satisfaction in his shows, his meals, his activities and his time with caregivers and visitors.
We also pray for his protection. The Scriptures teach that each of those who belong to God has angels who behold the face of the Father, and we ask the Lord to surround your son, your home, every room and door and window, your yard and vehicles, and every place he goes, with His watchful care and to keep him from all spiritual harm and evil. We do not trust in word curses or witchcraft, for they have no power over those who are in Christ, but we do pray that the Lord would rebuke every influence that is not from Him and keep your son in perfect safety under His wings according to Psalm 91.
We pray for your family and those who care for him. We ask God to restore a loving and compassionate bond between your son and his sister, and to bring peace where there has been division and hurt. Where there are relationships or influences causing havoc or confusion in your home, including the young man and his mother you mentioned, we pray that the Lord would set clear and healthy boundaries, remove what is harmful, and bring godly wisdom. We do not ask God to bless any relationship that is outside His good design, for marriage is a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman and all intimacy belongs within it, but we do ask that every relationship in your family would be guided by purity, honesty, and love that honors Christ, and that your daughter would be led in wisdom and grace. We pray for your caregivers and support coordinator, that God would give them wisdom, patience, compassion, strength and gentleness, and provide all the godly help and services your son needs.
We join you in thanking God that your son has been seizure free for these months, and we continue to ask for His mercy over his health, including his stomach and any physical distress. We pray that the inner war that so many feel within, when the mind and body are troubled, would be quieted by Christ, and that your son would know the love of God in a new and tangible way today and tonight.
May the Lord keep you all in quietness and godliness, and may He who loves you as a Father keep you as His children through His Son. We will continue to pray that your home would be filled with everlasting peace, joy, love and rest, and that you would see ongoing healing, breakthrough and restoration according to His perfect will. In the mighty name of Jesus Christ our Lord we pray. Amen.
