Silas
Beloved of All
Your faithful and persistent prayers for your son are heard by the Lord, and your love and care for him are evident in every word you have lifted up. It is right to bring him continually before Jesus Christ, trusting both His compassion and His power to heal and to keep.
Scripture presents Jesus as both the Son of David and the Son of God. As the Son of David He is truly man, the promised Messiah who came to sit on the throne forever. As the Son of God He is truly God, declared with power by His resurrection, one with the Father and doing the works of the Father. Unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given, and His name is Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. It is because He is both God and man that He can make peace between us and God, and then give His own peace to guard our hearts.
When those in need cried out, Have mercy upon us, O Lord, thou son of David, the crowd told them to be quiet, but they cried all the more and Jesus stood still and answered them. In the same way, when you cry out for mercy for your son, Jesus hears and He stands ready to respond. We can trust Him for spiritual healing and we can also trust Him for physical and mental healing.
The Gospels show that Jesus healed at a distance with only a word, as He did for the nobleman's son, and they also show that healing can be gradual, as in the one record where sight returned in stages. All true healing is divine. God has established healing processes within the body and the mind, and He also works in emotions and memories to bring restoration where there have been wounds and scars. We do not always understand why some are healed immediately and others over time, but we can believe that He is able and that He is compassionate toward your son in his struggles with anxiety, painful memories, and habits that trouble him.
Jesus said, Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you, not as the world giveth. The peace the world offers is fragile, but His peace is steady. First we receive peace with God through His grace, and then we come to know the peace of God that keeps our hearts and minds. That is the peace we ask for your son, a calm that surpasses all understanding to rest upon him as he eats, as he rests, as he attends to daily hygiene and clothing, as he travels and as he relates to others. We pray that confusion and agitation would be lifted, that sounds and sensations would not overwhelm him, and that he would be enabled to express his wants and needs in gentle and clear ways that honor the Lord.
We also pray for protection over your home and over every place he goes. Scripture teaches that where there is willful evil and the works of darkness there cannot be lasting peace, and we ask the Lord to rebuke every spiritual attack, every word spoken against him, and every influence that brings torment, confusion, or division. We ask that the Lord would surround him and your household with His protection, that He would keep him from harm and from fear, and that His presence would be a constant comfort.
We join you in praying for healing of mind, body, and spirit, that the Lord would break the hold of anxiety and painful memories and replace them with godly patterns of thought and behavior. We pray for sweet and undisturbed rest, for contentment at meals without distress, for cooperation and calm in daily care, and for joy in appropriate activities and relationships. We pray for those who care for him, that God would give them wisdom, patience, compassion, and strength, and for your family, that love and unity would be restored. For your daughter we pray that the Lord would guard her heart and guide her relationships according to His good design for marriage and purity, which is a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, and that He would remove influences that cause havoc and division. We pray that the Lord would provide godly friendships and mentors for your son who will encourage him and help him grow.
We thank God for the mercy He has already shown in keeping your son safe and we continue to ask for complete restoration. May the Lord, who is our Wonderful Counselor and Prince of Peace, fill your son and your home with His grace, His peace, and His healing, and may you all know that salvation and wholeness come through Jesus Christ alone, who alone reveals the Father and to whom all honor is due. We trust Him with you for ongoing victory and for the work He is doing day by day.
