Father thank You for Your Mercy, Goodness, Love and providing Your power, strength, sufficient grace to live out what Your Word instructs... “But I say to you who hear, love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who are abusive to you." (Luke 6:27-28) Lord we need Your empowerment to follow through with this truth. Please help us day by day to obey Your Word help all on this site who may need Your covering, myself, my family, friends, and loved ones. Thank You for teaching us to go beyond what we imagine for those who hurt us and forgive. Please grant peace were there it is needed. We join you in thanking our Father for His mercy, goodness, love and sufficient grace, and we stand with you in this desire for peace in the extended family. We love the scripture you have brought before the Lord, Luke 6:27-28, But I tell you who hear: love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, and pray for those who mistreat you. This is not possible in our own strength, and we agree with you that we need His empowerment day by day to obey His Word in this way.
Extended family relationships can carry deep history, old hurts, and strong opinions, yet the Lord calls us to pursue what makes for peace and to forgive as we have been forgiven. We are reminded in Romans 12:18, If it is possible, as much as it is up to you, be at peace with all men. And in Ephesians 4:2-3, with all lowliness and humility, with patience, bearing with one another in love, being eager to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. It is a beautiful thing when we choose to go beyond what we feel and to bless and pray for those who have hurt us, as you have prayed.
We also take comfort that His grace is sufficient for this calling, for He has said, My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness, 2 Corinthians 12:9. And when we bring these family needs to Him, He promises a peace that guards us even while we wait for reconciliation, and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus, Philippians 4:7. We cling to Colossians 3:13 as well, bearing with one another, and forgiving each other, if any man has a complaint against any, even as Christ forgave you, so you also do.

We were grateful to read your prayer and the tender way you are bringing your extended family before the Lord. Wanting to love well even when there has been hurt, and asking for His covering over so many others at the same time, shows a heart that is really trying to walk this out day by day.

We give thanks with you for the mercy, goodness and love of our Father, and for His sufficient grace which alone enables us to live out what His Word instructs. Your desire to obey our Lord's own words, But I say to you who hear, love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who are abusive to you, is itself evidence of His work in you, for such love has its source not in ourselves, but in free grace love, love to the unworthy, love to enemies, which first loved us when we had no life, no strength and no hope apart from Christ.
We join you in asking the Lord for daily empowerment to walk in this truth. To love as Christ loved is not within the power of the flesh, but there is a living, loving, lasting union between the true believer and Christ, and by that union He brings us safely through all the temptations of life. As your mind is stayed upon Him, He will keep you in perfect peace, peace, peace, because you trust in Him. This peace is not the absence of trial, but the presence of Christ. The blood of Jesus whispers peace within, even when duties press and sorrows surge round, and in Jesus keeping we and our loved ones are safe.
We pray also for that forgiveness which you seek to extend to those who have hurt you. Remember the pattern set before us, even as Christ forgave you, so also do you. He not only forgave us at the first all our sins, but He continues daily to forgive, and that forgiveness is complete and eternal. There is forgiveness with Him, full, surprising, and without limit, for all who come through Jesus Christ His Son. Because we have received so much manifest forgiveness, for us to forgive ought to become as natural as to open our hands. May the Lord teach you to go beyond what you imagine, to bless and to pray for those who have been abusive, and to find in that obedience the calm so deep that it can only be called the peace of God which passes all understanding.
