Your request for peace between these brothers and for peace in that home has been heard, and it is right to bring it before our heavenly Father in the name of Jesus.
Scripture shows us both the sorrow of brothers divided and the beauty of brothers united. From the beginning, Cain rose against Abel his brother, and that violence has echoed through generations. There are also rulers who abused their power and wronged their own brothers, taking what was not theirs. Against that background Jesus gave a deeper definition of family when he said that his brother and mother are those who do the will of God. Lasting peace between brothers does not come only from trying harder to get along, but from both hearts being brought closer to God himself. When hearts are reconciled to God, they can be reconciled to each other. That reconciliation was foretold long ago when it was promised that the Messiah would make an end of sin and make reconciliation for iniquity, and Jesus has fulfilled that promise. Through him we can be forgiven and made new. Pray that both men would turn to Christ, trust him alone for salvation, and then walk before God as those who seek to obey his commandments and live blamelessly before him, not in their own strength but by his grace. As they each seek to do the will of the Father, love for one another can grow in that house.
You also asked for prayer for painful legs and for deliverance from drugs and alcohol. God sees physical pain and he cares about the burdens we carry in our bodies, and we ask him for healing and relief according to his mercy and will. We also know how a single foolish choice can open a door to a lifetime of sorrow, how one decision to go a wrong way can haunt a person and bring pain that lasts for years. Drugs and alcohol often begin that way and then hold people captive. They do not bring peace to a home, they steal it. So we do not ask God to bless those things, we ask him to take them away, to break their power, to set free those who are bound, and to give a clear mind and a new path. Pray that God would grant repentance, strength to turn away, and help to walk in a different direction one day at a time.
We join you in praying that the Father would draw each person in that home to himself through Jesus, bring peace where there has been strife, teach them to love one another, bring healing to the body, and deliver from every chain of drugs and alcohol, for his glory.
