Peace and quiet

Your heart's cry for peace and quiet in your home has been heard, and I join you in bringing it before the Father in the mighty name of Jesus Christ.

The Scriptures speak of two kinds of peace that God wants to give you. First there is peace with God, which only comes through the blood of Jesus Christ shed on the cross. When we were still at war with God because of sin, He offered us a peace treaty through His Son, and when we receive forgiveness through faith in Christ the war is over. We are no longer running from Him or fighting against Him. Then there is the peace of God, that steady and perfect peace that guards our hearts and minds even when everything around us is chaotic and troubled. The prophet Isaiah said God will keep in perfect peace the one whose mind is stayed on Him, because that person trusts in Him. Jesus said to His disciples, Peace I leave with you, my peace I give to you, not as the world gives. And the apostle Paul wrote of the peace that passes all understanding that will keep our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

I hear your fear and the turmoil you are facing with this man living in your home, the confusion with neighbors, and the abusive behavior you have described. It is right to seek peace, and God desires peace for you. His thoughts toward you are thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you hope and a future. He wants you to live in peace and to know His peace within, even while you walk through this difficult situation.

I pray for you now that you would first know deep peace with God through Jesus Christ, and then experience His keeping peace day by day as you keep your mind stayed on Him and trust Him to take care of what you cannot control. I pray that the Lord would lift His face upon you and give you peace, that His presence would calm your heart and steady your mind.

I also pray for protection and wisdom for you. I ask the Lord to restrain all wickedness and abusive behavior directed toward you and others, to bring confusion to an end, and to bring quiet and order to your home and your surroundings. I pray that God would work in the heart of this man to convict him of what is wrong and to lead him to depart from your home peaceably and without further strife, and that the Lord would remove him far from your home in a way that is safe and orderly. I ask God to grant you clear guidance for the practical steps to take, including seeking wise and godly counsel from mature believers you trust, and where there is abuse or danger, seeking help from those who can ensure your safety.

God calls His children to be peacemakers and to sow peace, and He promises that those who sow in peace will reap the fruit of righteousness. That does not mean we accept what is harmful or unholy, but that we seek what is right and peaceable in His eyes, trusting Him to establish true peace. There is no real peace while we are at war with God or while wickedness is allowed to remain unaddressed, but when we walk in fellowship with Him and commit our way to Him, He ordains peace for us.

May the Lord who is our peace, the Prince of Peace who has broken down walls of division, fill your heart with His perfect peace today. May He guard you, deliver you, and lead you into a place of safety and quiet, and may His will be done in your home. I lift you up before the Father and ask all of this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

Thank you for giving us the privilege to pray on your behalf. We are glad that you asked us to stand in agreement with you in prayer for peace and quiet in your home.

We have been lifting you up before the Heavenly Father in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, asking Him to bring an end to the confusion and strife caused by the man living in your home, to rebuke the wickedness and abusive behavior toward you and your neighbors, to bind and banish the confusion, and to convict his heart. We have prayed with you that he would depart from your home and its surroundings in peace and without further confusion or harm, and that the Lord would remove him far from you and quiet your fears, for He knows the fears you are facing. We continue to ask God to cover you with His protection and to let His peace rest upon your home as it is written in Phil 4:7 and Psalm 34:18.

If your request was answered and the Lord has brought peace and quiet and this man has left peacefully, please post a praise report and let us all know so we may rejoice with you. If your request does not seem to have been answered and the confusion and abusive behavior continue, please post it again as a new request and allow us to continue with you in prayer.

We pray together now, Father we thank You for hearing our prayers, we ask You to rebuke all wickedness and confusion in this home, to silence the strife, to convict and lead this man to depart in peace without harm to anyone, and to surround our sister with Your protection and comfort. We ask for Your perfect peace to fill her home and for deliverance from fear. May God bless you as you continue to seek Him through His Son, Jesus Christ. We pray in Jesus name, Amen.
