Thank you for sharing your honest prayer with thankfulness even in the midst of ongoing pain. That grateful heart honors God while you are still waiting for relief from the ache and inflammation of osteoarthritis.
I want to pray with you for healing, and I believe strongly that God does heal. Scripture shows that Jesus healed every kind of sickness and disease among the people, and Matthew connects that ministry to the prophecy in Isaiah that He bore our infirmities and carried our sicknesses. His body was broken for us, and that includes both spiritual and physical healing. At the same time there is much about healing that we do not fully understand. Sometimes Jesus healed instantly with a touch, sometimes with only a word from a distance, and once the healing came gradually. He is not confined to one pattern, and we cannot presume to know exactly how He will work in each case.
One thing that helps is to remember that every healing process is from God. He created our bodies and built healing processes into them, and that natural process is still divine because He is the one who designed it. He also brings healing that is not only physical but touches the mind and emotions, soothing the weariness and discouragement that long term pain can bring. There are times when people have sensed His healing touch in a very real way, and there are other times when healing comes slowly over days and weeks. We also see in Scripture that Paul prayed earnestly for his thorn in the flesh to be removed, and God in His wisdom did not remove it but gave grace to endure. So we do not claim that God must heal every condition exactly as we ask, but we do come confidently to Him knowing He has power over the material body and compassion for our suffering.
Part of our pain goes back to the brokenness that entered the world through sin. We live in bodies that groan and grow weak and ache, longing for the day when we will be fully delivered from this prison of pain and weakness. Until then, God hears your prayer and cares about this inflammation and stiffness you feel each day.
Let us pray together. Father, thank You for Your many blessings and for the faith You have given to ask in the name of Jesus. I bring this pain and inflammation before You and ask for Your healing touch. Whether it be an instant work, a gradual restoration, or strength through the healing processes You have placed in the body, please bring relief and comfort. Ease the inflammation, quiet the pain, and heal any weariness of heart that has come with it. Give wisdom for care and treatment, and give peace to trust Your good will. In Jesus name, amen.
