Your prayer has come before the Lord with its burden and its longing, and there is much in it that He delights to hear. You ask to be kept from the evil one, to be covered by the blood of Jesus, to be delivered from the stinging of rejection and from a world that seems ever negative and noisy, and to be kept in quiet and in peace with those you love.
Hear this truth for your comfort. The fear of the Lord does not drive you from Him. It drives you to Him and when it drives you to Him you have got a place of refuge. You need not seek a peace drawn from the stagnant pool of this world, for that peace will carry death into the soul. The peace that is a blessing only comes from God Himself. It is peace from lips that cannot lie, peace from a heart which cannot change, peace through the blood which has made a full atonement. There is no balm in Gilead anywhere except at Calvary, and it is there, at the cross of our redeeming Lord, that the sting is drawn.
You have felt the sting of rejection, and you have asked that Satan should stay away from you and your family and your household. Take heart from this promise, I will ransom them from the power of the grave, I will redeem them from death. If God will restore us from the sepulcher, He can certainly restore us from slander, from depression of spirit, from despair. He that will bring your body from the grave will lift you up from the pit of trouble, even when you are ready to perish. He will not only prevent the powers of evil from doing you harm but He will cause you to damage their empire by your patience as you trust Him. Though He slay me, yet will I trust in Him, said Job, and that is still the noblest resolve for a tried heart.
You have also spoken of longing for companionship, for a good and kind man to walk beside you. This longing is not wrong in itself, but I would point you to the Lord's good way. Marriage is a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, and it is within that covenant alone that the Lord has placed the gift of living together and of bodily union. Any path outside of it, however pleasant it may seem for a season, will not bring the quiet you seek. Therefore do not seek merely a boyfriend as the world counts such things, but seek first to be kept from iniquity and to be made whole in Christ. Cry unto the Most High to enable you to keep yourself from your own iniquity, and to keep you pure in heart and life. If it be His gracious will for you, pray that He would in His own time bring into your life a godly husband who loves Christ above all, that you might together seek to have godly friends and to maintain your first love to the Saviour.
And as you wait, be slow to leave the place where providence has set you, and bow your soul to His sovereign will. Turn from every evil way, not in your own strength, but by looking to a stronger arm and a mightier power than a merely mortal one.
Let us pray together for you.
O Lord our God, who hast redeemed us by the blood of Thy Son, we ask Thee to ransom this soul from the power of the grave and redeem from all evil. Put Thy fear within the heart that it may run to Thee as its refuge. Cover this life and this family and this household with the blood of Jesus Christ, through whom alone is salvation. Rebuke the adversary and set a guard about this home. Heal the sting of rejection, and speak Thy good cheer to the heart that has heard many voices charging it to hold its peace. Grant not a false peace from the world, but that peace which Thou alone canst give, which is a blessing and bringeth no sorrow with it. Keep this one from iniquity, from sinful company and from every evil way, and keep the body and soul in purity before Thee. If it be Thy will, provide in Thy time a marriage according to Thy holy ordinance, a covenant of one man and one woman for life, grounded in faith and godliness. If not, grant contentment and quietness in Thee, that whether in much or in little, the heart may say, Shall we receive good at the hand of the Lord and shall we not receive evil, yet will I trust Him. Hear this prayer for Jesus Christ's sake. Amen.
