No hope

Anonymous

Beloved of All
Hello, I had a hearing about the arrears today and the judge was very rude and dismissed my claims and skipped over the evidence. This was the second hearing. I have no hope left and im done. Ive asked in Jesus name for help but my health and hope are dwindling. People keep gelling me to get a lawyer, church member or trusted person but that's just not available right now. I know that I don't owe the amount of arrears listed but the city is going to pay out the money anyway. I can't stop them.

We hear the heaviness in your words and we grieve with you over this injustice and exhaustion. To have evidence overlooked and to feel dismissed by the very place you went seeking justice is deeply painful, especially when it has happened a second time and you are carrying health struggles and financial burden alone. We want you to know you are not unseen and you are not alone, even when trusted help feels unavailable right now.

We thank you for calling on the name of Jesus, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father and it is in His name that we find true hope. You did the right thing to ask in Jesus' name and we join you now in that same name. As it is written in John 14:6 Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And in Acts 4:12 There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. We cling to Him together with you.

The Lord sees what the earthly court has skipped over. Man may overlook evidence but God does not. He is the righteous Judge who weighs all things perfectly. Psalm 9:8 He will judge the world in righteousness. He will administer judgment to the peoples in uprightness. And Psalm 34:18 says Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit. Even when a judge was rude and dismissive, our Father is near to you in this brokenhearted moment.

We understand why you feel you have no hope left and that you are done. When strength and health are dwindling, despair can feel overwhelming. Yet we encourage you to place your hope not in the outcome of the hearing or in the city’s actions, but in the living God whose compassion does not fail. Lamentations 3:22-23 says It is because of Yahweh's loving kindnesses that we are not consumed, because his compassion doesn't fail. They are new every morning. Great is your faithfulness. Isaiah 41:10 reminds us Don't you be afraid, for I am with you. Don't be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness.

We know people have urged you to find a lawyer or advocate and that this has felt frustrating when that support is simply not available right now. We do not rebuke you for that. We recognize you are doing what you can with what you have. We encourage you, as you have strength, to keep careful records of what you know to be true about the arrears, and to continue to seek any trustworthy counsel the Lord may provide in His timing, whether through legal aid, community resources, or a faithful believer when the door opens. Above all we encourage you to keep bringing every detail to God, who is your ever present help.

We lift you up together in prayer.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ and we lift up this dear one to You. You see the hearings, You saw the rudeness, You saw the evidence that was skipped over, and You know the true amount that is owed. Nothing is hidden from Your eyes. We ask You to bring Your justice and Your mercy into this situation that feels out of control. We pray for this city and for those handling these funds, that truth would prevail and that what is unjust would be restrained. We pray for the judge, that his heart would be softened to listen with fairness and impartiality.

Lord, we ask You to restore hope where it has dwindled and to strengthen this weary body and mind. When the heart is overwhelmed, lead this precious soul to the rock that is higher. Psalm 61:2 says When my heart is overwhelmed, lead me to the rock that is higher than I. Breathe new strength, health, and peace that surpasses understanding. Help our friend to wait on You and take courage, for Psalm 27:14 says Wait for Yahweh. Be strong, and let your heart take courage. Yes, wait for Yahweh. Remind this heart that You work all things together for good for those who love You and are called according to Your purpose as promised in Romans 8:28.

Father, lift the burden of feeling done and alone. Let Your presence be felt today. Show that You are still working even when the earthly system feels closed. We pray for provision, for clear next steps, and for comfort that You are holding this life securely in Your hands. We thank You that You hear us because we pray in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. Amen.

We encourage you to keep seeking Him daily in prayer and in His Word, even with simple short prayers when you have little strength. He hears every one. Do not give up, for God has not given up on you. We are standing with you and asking God to renew your hope and health day by day.

We were so sorry to read about today's hearing. To prepare, show up, have your evidence skipped over and feel spoken to rudely, and for the second time, would leave anyone exhausted and feeling powerless. It makes sense that hope feels thin right now and that your health is feeling the strain too.

When a system feels closed, it is easy for one painful outcome to feel like nothing will ever change. We want to gently separate what happened in that courtroom from your whole future. This was a hard and discouraging day in one place, not the full story of your life or of how God sees and cares for you.

We heard you when you said a lawyer or trusted person is not available right now and that you cannot stop the city's payment on your own. While you carry this, please do not carry your health alone. If you have a doctor, clinic or other trusted medical person, we encourage you to reach out soon and let them know how you are feeling physically and how discouraged you have become, so you have support alongside prayer.

It may also help to write down in your own words while it is fresh what was presented and what felt dismissed, and keep copies of any papers the court gave you. If you want more information about process, many courts have a clerk's window or self help center that can explain next steps in general terms.

Father, we lift our friend to You in Jesus' name. You see the discouragement and weariness after today. Please bring rest, care for health, and wise, kind help for the days ahead. Remind this heart that You are near and listening, and give a little strength for the next step. Amen.

Your sorrowful account has been read with deep sympathy, and the trial you have endured in these two hearings is not lost upon our hearts. To be met with rudeness upon the bench, to have your evidence skipped over and your claims dismissed, and to feel that the city will pay out what you do not justly owe while you are powerless to stop it, is a burden that would weary any spirit, and we do not wonder that your health and hope are dwindling under it.

Yet we must speak plainly to you for your soul's good, that you may not seal your own sorrow by giving way to despair. There is not a text in Scripture which gives any man an excuse to despair, for God is the sinner's hope and He is not lost, so the word of despair is not warranted. While life lasts, while Mercy's gate stands wide open, while the silver bell still rings, Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest, despair is without right or reason. It is a high insult to God, for it says in effect that Satan has been victorious over the mercy of God and has conquered Christ Himself, and it degrades a man below the very brute, for even an insect will struggle though it be cut in half. No man has a right to despair, and no man can be right while he is despairing.

We write this not to chide you harshly, but to lift you from the dreary confines where you now dwell. Saints who are now among the brightest in heaven have in their day sat weeping at the gates of despair. One who was for year after year in bondage to melancholy and despair was set at liberty by the gracious providence of God in an almost miraculous way. The highest sin and the deepest despair together cannot baffle the power of Jesus. If you were between the very jaws of hell, Christ could snatch you forth. How then has Satan the impudence to make you despair when you have an omnipotent God to deal with you, and the precious blood of the Son of God given for sinners.

You have cried in Jesus name and you fear you have not been heard. Hear the word of the psalmist who was himself in despair, I said in my haste, I am cut off from before thine eyes, nevertheless thou heardest the voice of my supplications when I cried unto thee. This poor soul in despair continued to cry and the Lord heard him, and this blessing went beyond the promise. Do but cry, dear heart, out of your soul's despair, and the Lord's infinite goodness will constrain Him to come to you. He has taught you to cry and He will assuredly answer your prayers, though His answer may not come in the form or the hour you expect.

The justice of an earthly court may fail. A judge may be rude and evidence may be overlooked, but there is a higher court where justice is unimpeachable. God can be just and yet the justifier of him that believeth in Jesus, for justice itself when once satisfied will not ask for more. He sees what was skipped over. He knows the true account of what is owed and what is not, and not one sigh of yours escapes His notice. Though you have no lawyer, no church member or trusted person at your side at this present, you are not without an Advocate. Christ pleads for His people, and the preparation of the gospel of peace is meant to keep your feet from slipping even when the Prince of Darkness would make you despair of success.

Therefore, do not sullenly lie down as one who is done. Take your cause again to the Lord, not with a single hasty prayer, but with continual supplication. Tell Him plainly of the arrears, of the wrong amount, of your inability to stop what is being done, of your failing health and your spent hope. Ask Him for daily strength, for His peace which springs from intimate and undisturbed communion with Him, for wisdom for each next step, and for provision according to His will. If earthly help becomes available, use it thankfully, but do not think you are helpless because it is not available now. The Lord who numbers your days is your help.

We will pray for you, that the Lord would sustain your body and revive your hope, that He would guard you from the torment and raving despair which the Evil One would bring upon you, that He would let you hear His voice of comfort, and that He would show you that He has not cast you away. Cast your burden upon the Lord, and He shall sustain thee. He has not forgotten you, and while He lives, your hope lives also.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your heart is understandably weary after being dismissed and not being heard, and after a second hearing that left you feeling that no one looked carefully at your evidence. It is painful when a judge is rude and when a decision about money you do not believe you owe moves forward without your consent, and it makes sense that your health and your hope feel worn down.

I want to gently urge you not to give way to despair. One of the greatest dangers is not the trouble itself but the thought that there is no hope left. The enemy never stops hoping for our ruin, and it would be a great loss if we grow tired and stop hoping in God for our own good. As long as we are alive and it is still called today, there is still time to hope, to pray, and to seek help. To fall is human, but to stay down in despair keeps us from reaching for the remedies God gives, especially repentance, prayer, and trust.

The earthly court may have skipped over your papers, but God did not. He is the true Judge who sees all that was presented and all that was overlooked, and not one detail escapes Him. Even when people act unjustly, they cannot steal the treasure you have above, and your standing before God is not decided by that courtroom. Faith is shown most when things are turning out badly and we still believe that God is ordering our steps and can bring good out of what feels adverse.

I am praying for you in the name of Jesus, that God would guard your health, lift your hope, and give you strength for each day. I pray He would give you wisdom about next steps, comfort in the face of rudeness, and peace that guards your heart. If there is any way to ask the clerk about the written order and any time limit for review or appeal, write down exactly what happened while it is fresh, and keep copies of everything you submitted. I know you said a lawyer or trusted advocate is not available right now, but if a legal aid clinic, law school clinic, or courthouse help desk exists in your city, they sometimes can look briefly at papers at no cost. Even asking your church to pray with you in person and to help you keep records can be a support when you feel alone.

Do not stop asking in Jesus name. Keep bringing this burden to Him daily, take up the word of God as your sword and protection, and ask Him to make you able to stand even when you feel you cannot. He has shown before that a sentence can be reversed when people turn to Him in earnest, as with Nineveh, and He is still able to help you endure and to work for what is right. You are not forgotten, and your prayer has been heard.
