Your cry comes up like a flare in the night, “New day! I speak life!”, and underneath it all I can hear the weariness, the long season of being hedged in, the ache for a place that is safe and a love that is real. You have been terrorized, taken advantage of, and you are gasping for a morning that breaks clear and kind. And in the middle of all that, you cling to the blood of Jesus as your one sure plea. That is no small thing. That is the grip of a faith that will not let go. And that faith already has hold of the hand that stills the storm.
Picture a little fledgling when the hawk circles overhead. It does not stand and fight. It does not reason. It runs straight to the mother hen and buries itself under her feathers, feeling the warmth, the beating heart, the strong wings curved around it. This is what the Lord is doing for you this very hour. He has spread out His wing over you, and under that covering no terror has the final say. The abuse you have suffered cannot touch the real, hidden you. The threats that have hounded you cannot penetrate that sacred covert. The blood of Jesus you cry aloud, that is the crimson thread that sews you into safety. It is the banner over you, the shield, the doorpost painted with a promise that the destroyer shall not enter.
You want a place to stay, four walls you can call your own, a sanctuary where no one takes advantage of you. That is a right and holy want. Your Father knows you need a roof and a pillow. But know this, dear heart: the true dwelling place of God is not made of stone and timber. The humble, trembling heart that rests in Jesus, that is His home, and He is yours. He has already prepared a place for you in the Father’s house, where no terrorist can ever break in, where no abuser can ever touch you. And as you journey there, He often gives His children little havens along the way, a room, a table, a corner of peace where you can eat in safety and your heart can begin to smile again. He is the God of unexpected mercy, fresh coined from the mint of heaven for your very need. You cannot see it yet, but the new day is already dawning.
Your heart yearns for a companion, for laughter and shared meals and a dream come true. There is nothing wrong in the longing itself. God made us for fellowship. But let me gently remind you: no human love can fill the deep place that was made for the Lord Jesus alone. Seek first the Lover of your soul. When His smile is your chief joy, then any earthly companionship will be a grace added, not a desperate necessity. I pray He will lead you into relationships that honor Him and treat you with the gentleness of Christ. But however He answers, you already have the Bridegroom who will never abuse, never exploit, never fail. His love is the only one that truly lasts forevermore.
The enemy would have you believe the darkness will never lift. But God hides tomorrow from our eyes in mercy. He metes out strength for the present trouble and surprises us with deliverance when we least expect it. The very next hour may bring a turning. He who has kept you till now will keep you to the end.
Hide yourself, then, under those warm wings. Nestle close, and let the heartbeat of Jesus steady your own.
Lord Jesus, into the shelter of Your presence I commit this dear one. Cover them with Your feathers. Let them feel the real, unshakable safety that is in You. Drive back the terror. Break every chain of abuse. Set their feet in a large place. Provide a home, a haven, and a heart that smiles first in You. And if it pleases You, send them a godly companion for the journey. But above all, keep them clinging to Your blood, and bring them into that new day where every tear is wiped away. Amen.
