We hear your cry for peace and restful sleep in the midst of a very disturbing and oppressive environment around you, and we join together with you in the powerful name of Jesus Christ to seek God's protection and deliverance.

You are right to bring this before the Lord, for our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms as it is written in Ephesians 6:12. We do not wrestle with people alone, but with the spiritual darkness behind harassment, bullying, gossip, voyeurism, witchcraft and sorcery. God is very clear that these practices are an abomination to Him, for it is written in Deuteronomy 18:10-12 that there shall not be found with you anyone who practices divination or sorcery or witchcraft, for whoever does these things is an abomination to the Lord. We rebuke together with you every demonic atmosphere, every gathering that seeks to sabotage, to meddle, to invade privacy, to gossip and to be nosy, every sexual spiritual attack, every voyeurism, every fake encounter, and every attempt to transfer ruin, misery, tragedy, sickness and death onto you and others. We rebuke every witchcraft and sorcery and every nightmare and madhouse spirit of disorder and discord that would steal sleep and disturb life, and we command it to be cancelled and to flee in the name of Jesus Christ. Submit therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you, James 4:7.

You shared the precious promise of Psalm 4:8, I will both lay me down and sleep in peace, for you, Lord alone, make me live in safety, and we claim this over you. It is God alone who gives true safety and rest. It is also written in Psalm 127:2 that He gives sleep to his loved ones, and in Proverbs 3:24 when you lie down, you will not be afraid. Yes, when you lie down, your sleep will be sweet. We also remember Romans 16:17 which urges believers to watch out for those who cause divisions and occasions of stumbling contrary to the doctrine which you learned, and to turn away from them. We agree with you that we are not called to carry the ruin of others or to be as God to defend or protect everyone in a way only God can do. Our obligation is to walk in holiness, to love our neighbors as ourselves, to pray for them, but also to turn away from and avoid those who persist in divisive, meddling and destructive behavior, and to set godly boundaries. We are to live at peace with all men as far as it depends on us, Romans 12:18, but we are not to allow ourselves to be drawn into their chaos.

We encourage you to daily put on the full armor of God that you mentioned in Ephesians 6:10-11, Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. Finally, be strong in the Lord, and in the strength of his might. This means covering yourself with truth, righteousness, the gospel of peace, faith, salvation, the Word of God, and prayer. Do not return evil for evil, do not engage in gossip or retaliation, but commit your neighbors and that entire environment to God who is in control and who sees all. Cast all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you, 1 Peter 5:7. The peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus, Philippians 4:7.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the mighty and holy name of Jesus Christ, for there is no other name under heaven by which we can approach You and be saved. We thank You that You alone make us dwell in safety. We ask You to rebuke and drive out every demonic assignment, every spirit of harassment, bullying, voyeurism, witchcraft, sorcery, division, and disorder that has been gathering around this life and this dwelling place. We cancel every assignment to transfer sickness, ruin, tragedy and death, and every nightmare that would steal sleep. Let Your holy presence fill this home and this bed. Let Your angels encamp around those who fear You, Psalm 34:7. Grant deep, uninterrupted, peaceful sleep and rest, and let no terror of night come near. We ask You to bring conviction where there is willful evil and to bring peace where there is chaos, and to keep this dear one from meddling and from being meddled with. Clothe us all in Your full armor, strengthen us in Your might, and let Your perfect love cast out all fear, for God did not give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control, 2 Timothy 1:7. We entrust this neighbor environment and this whole disaster atmosphere into Your sovereign hands, trusting that You are in control and that You will work all things for good for those who love You. We pray for rest in peace for this life and for others affected, that all may know Your power and Your deliverance. In the name of Jesus Christ we pray, Amen.

A couple of gentle next steps that may help alongside prayer: consider talking with a trusted pastor or counselor who can walk with you in person and help you think through healthy boundaries with neighbors, and if the sleeplessness and anxiety continue to weigh on you, it is wise to check in with your doctor as well so you have support for your health while we continue to pray.

Father, we lift our friend to You tonight. You see the strain and the longing for rest. We ask for Your protection over their home and their sleep, for calm in their mind and body, and for wisdom to navigate the neighborhood situation with clarity and peace. The burden you have described, of broken sleep and a troubled spirit through the harassment and dark atmosphere around you, is heard before the Lord, and it is right to bring it to Him in prayer.

The Scripture you have clung to is true and precious. "I will both lie down in peace, and sleep; for You alone, O LORD, make me dwell in safety." Psalm 4:8. And again it is written, "So He gives His beloved sleep." Psalm 127:2. Sleep is not secured by our own contrivance, nor by the quietness of the street or the goodwill of neighbors. It is the gift of God. We think we lay our heads upon our pillows and therefore we sleep, but it is not so. The Lord Himself must keep watch, for except He keep the house, the watcher wakes in vain. When He grants rest, no noise of archers, no discord without, can steal it away.

You do well to see that our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. Ephesians 6:10-12. Therefore you are exhorted to be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power, and to put on the full armor of God, that you may take your stand against the devil's schemes. This armor is not forged by our own resolve. Deliverance from the power of darkness, as well as deliverance from the guilt of sin, is as much the work of God as any other mercy. He has delivered us from the power of darkness, and we must look to our heavenly Father, altogether and alone, for that sanctifying and keeping power. He has invented the way of deliverance and He has found a ransom. "Deliver him from going down to the Pit: I have found a ransom." Job 33:24. That ransom is Christ Jesus our Lord, and through Him alone we are saved from sin, from Satan, and from every evil company.

It is also well to have grace enough to see that tribulation does not spring out of the dust. The Lord Himself kindles the fiery furnace and sits as a Refiner at the door. Even when affliction comes distinctly from man, through malice or imprudent meddling or gossiping, it comes with greater certainty from the Lord and may be the necessary outcome of His special love to us. That which we receive from the rod of the Lord bears the blessed aspect of chastening from a Father's hand. For this reason we may wisely moderate our anger against second causes. Your neighbors, with all their disorder and unseemly behavior, are not your ultimate defense nor your final danger. The Lord reigns. He keeps back the soul from the Pit and preserves His people.

Let us pray together for you and for others who suffer in like manner.

O Lord our God, who alone makes Your people to dwell in safety, we ask in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, who has found a ransom for sinners, that You would rebuke every spiritual force of evil that would disturb the peace of this Your child. We ask You to cancel every work of witchcraft and sorcery, every voyeurism and spiritual intrusion, every scheme to transfer ruin or sickness or fear, and every discord that would make the home as a place of confusion. Deliver from going down to the Pit. Deliver from the power of darkness. Put to silence the gathering of those who cause divisions and obstacles contrary to sound doctrine, according to Romans 16:17, and grant wisdom to avoid what is unholy and to walk apart from it. Grant the gift of sleep to Your beloved. Let Your child lie down in peace and sleep, for You alone give rest. Clothe Your servant with the breastplate of righteousness, the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God. Keep watch over the dwelling place through the night and let no evil approach to steal that rest.

We ask that You would grant a quiet and sober mind, not sleeping as do others in carelessness, but watchful and prayerful, putting on the breastplate of love. After affliction, grant also the believer's conduct, to live and declare the works of the Lord, giving testimony that it was Your hand that delivered.

Continue daily in the Word and in prayer, seeking the Lord's strength rather than your own. Walk in love and holiness, and where there is persistent meddling or harassment, mark and avoid those who cause division, committing your cause to Him who judges righteously. May the Lord grant you peaceful nights and peaceful days, and may He be your keeper and your refuge.

Your cry for peace in the night and for safety from a troubled and harassing environment has been heard, and I join you in bringing it before the Lord.

You quoted well the promise of the Psalm, that you will lie down in peace and sleep, for the Lord alone makes you dwell in safety. Hold fast to this truth. The Lord who keeps Israel neither slumbers nor sleeps, and while we are called to guard ourselves and to watch, our safety finally rests not in our own vigilance but in His mighty power. When anxiety and fear would keep you awake, remember that He is awake for you.

Scripture teaches that our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers and authorities and spiritual forces of evil. Therefore we are told to be strong in the Lord and to put on the full armor of God so that we can stand against the schemes of the devil. This armor is not made by our own hands. It is truth, righteousness, the gospel of peace, faith, salvation, and the Word of God, lived out daily. To watch and to be sober is in our power by God's grace. Do not give your foot a place to slip by dwelling on fear or by returning evil for evil, but stand firm and unmoved in Christ. The sleep of the soul that comes from sin, from anger, from meddling and gossip and the drunkenness of worldly cares, makes us vulnerable. Sobriety and watchfulness keep the heart clear to pray.

Concerning your neighbors and those around you who disturb, gossip, meddle, and act with bad intentions, hear also the word of the Lord. God is not a God of war and fighting, and He calls us to be at peace with all people so far as it depends on us. Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God. To love God is to love your neighbor as yourself, and on this hangs all the law and the prophets. This does not mean you must open your private life to those who would harm it, or that you are responsible to defend or protect those who do evil. The apostle urges us to be watchful of those who cause divisions and obstacles contrary to sound teaching and to avoid them. You may and should set wise boundaries, turn away from gossip and slander, refuse to pass on what is not true or helpful, and not repay insult with insult. The more another wars against you, the greater the opportunity for you to show patience and to leave judgment to God, who sees all and will make all things right.

Therefore let us pray together.

Heavenly Father, in the mighty name of Jesus Christ Your Son, through whom alone is salvation, I ask You to rebuke every evil influence, every work of witchcraft and sorcery, every spirit of voyeurism, harassment, discord, and fear that would steal sleep and trouble this home and this neighborhood. Cancel the assignment of confusion and disorder and the desire to transfer ruin or sickness or tragedy to others. Let Your peace, which passes all understanding, guard this heart and mind.
