Neighbor’s ### earthquake tragedies mercy prayer

We lift our hearts in deep sorrow and intercession for the people of Venezuela who are enduring the devastating aftermath of this earthquake. Our hearts ache with yours as we consider the lives lost, the homes destroyed, and the families torn apart by this tragedy. In moments like these, it is natural to question where God is, but we stand firm on His promises, knowing that He is indeed in control, even when the world seems to be crumbling around us.

The Bible reminds us in Psalm 46:1-3, "God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we won’t be afraid, though the earth changes, though the mountains are shaken into the heart of the seas; though its waters roar and are troubled, though the mountains tremble with their swelling." Even in the midst of such chaos, God is our refuge, and He calls us to trust in Him. We also hold fast to Romans 8:28, which assures us, "We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, for those who are called according to his purpose." Though we may not understand His ways, we trust that He is working for the good of those who love Him.

We must also address the reality of suffering and the hope we have in Christ. It is only through Jesus that we can approach God with our prayers and find true comfort. Acts 4:12 tells us, "There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved." If any of those suffering have not yet placed their faith in Jesus Christ, we pray that this tragedy would draw them to Him, the only source of true hope and eternal life. For those who already know Him, we pray that they would feel His presence in a tangible way, even in their darkest hour.

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up the people of Venezuela who are suffering in the wake of this earthquake. Lord, we ask for Your mercy to cover them, for Your comfort to surround them, and for Your provision to meet their every need. We pray for those who have lost loved ones, that You would wrap Your arms around them and give them peace that surpasses all understanding. For those who have lost their homes, we ask that You would be their shelter and their strength. Father, we know that You are close to the brokenhearted and save those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18). Let them feel Your presence in a real and powerful way.

Lord, we also pray for the salvation of those who do not yet know You. In the midst of this tragedy, soften their hearts to receive the truth of Your Word and the hope that is found only in Jesus Christ. May they come to know Him as their Lord and Savior, finding eternal life and peace in His name.

We rebuke the spirit of fear and despair that seeks to take hold of the people in this time of crisis. We declare that You are greater than any disaster, and we trust in Your sovereignty. Provide for their physical needs, food, water, shelter, and medical care. Raise up Your church to be Your hands and feet, showing the love of Christ in practical ways. Give wisdom to those in leadership as they respond to this crisis, and let Your name be glorified even in the midst of this suffering.

In Jesus' mighty name, we pray. Amen.

To those who are grieving, we encourage you to lean on the Lord and on one another. Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 reminds us, "Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their labor. For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow; but woe to him who is alone when he falls, and doesn’t have another to lift him up." Seek out your brothers and sisters in Christ for support, and allow them to walk alongside you in this difficult time.

If you are reading this and have not yet surrendered your life to Jesus Christ, we urge you to consider the brevity of life and the certainty of eternity. Jesus said in John 14:6, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." There is no other name by which we can be saved, and there is no better time than now to place your trust in Him. Confess your sins, turn away from them, and invite Jesus to be the Lord of your life. He promises to give you rest and hope, even in the midst of life’s greatest storms.

We are so sorry for the weight your neighbors are carrying right now. When a disaster like an earthquake strikes a community, the losses compound, loved ones, homes, the life they knew, and it all feels utterly overwhelming. Grieving in such chaos isn't orderly or predictable; people often swing between shock, disbelief, anger, and numbness, all while just trying to survive. It helps to remember that this emotional tornado is not weakness or a lack of faith. It is a normal, healthy response to a devastating blow. God is not put off by our anguish; He hears every cry and holds each person securely, even when the ground itself has shaken.

As you pray for God's mercy and provision, you are already doing something powerful: you are standing with them in their suffering, refusing to let them face it alone. One of the deepest ways love shows up in a crisis is through the simple, steady presence of someone who stays, someone who brings a meal, sits in the mess, or helps connect them with others who can rebuild. If you are near enough, your quiet, practical care will speak louder than many words. If not, you might link arms with a local church or trusted relief group that is already on the ground, so your neighbors receive tangible help as well as your prayers.

Please also guard your own heart. Carrying others' pain like this can drain a person, and you cannot pour out what you do not have. Let others care for you, too.

Lord Jesus, we lift up these precious neighbors in Venezuela. In their grief and loss, be their shelter and their stronghold. Provide for every practical need, food, water, safe shelter, and wise helpers. Pour out mercy that meets them in the ache they cannot escape, and surround them with warm, faithful companions who will walk this road with them. Hold those who mourn, and carry those who have nothing left. We trust You with their future, in Your name. Amen.

In the quaking of the earth, when the mountains are carried into the midst of the sea, there is a refuge for the soul, a very present help in trouble. The horrors that have befallen your neighbors in Venezuela stir the depths of our compassion, and we lift them before the throne of grace, knowing that God is not far from any suffering one. His tender mercy is over all His works, and He has a special nearness to the brokenhearted. Think not that this calamity has escaped His notice. He who holds the winds in His fists and weighs the mountains in scales does not afflict willingly, nor grieve the children of men without purpose.

Let us pray not only for bread and shelter, but that this earthquake of the ground might become a heartquake of repentance and faith. The way of mercy is opened through the suffering of our Lord Jesus Christ, who was made perfect through sufferings that He might bring many sons to glory. To those who have lost house, loved ones, life itself, there is a city whose builder and maker is God, and an inheritance incorruptible, undefiled, and that fadeth not away. Cry to Him while He is near, for His mercy goes before us even as we call. He can turn this ache into awe at His deliverance.

We will not fear, though the earth be removed; for none of these things, neither earthquake, nor famine, nor death, can separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. And if any are perishing in despair, we beseech them to look to Him who is able to save to the uttermost. Mercy is not for the deserving; it is for the needy. Let these suffering ones feel their need, and may the Spirit bring them to the foot of the cross, where He who suffered for sin gives eternal refuge. The Lord is slow to anger and plenteous in mercy; He delighteth in mercy. Oh that they would escape from the wrath to come and take Jesus to be their refuge and strength!

We join with you in imploring the God of all comfort to support the afflicted, provide for the destitute, and pour upon them a hope that maketh not ashamed. Verily, He is in control, and His delays are not denials. Sooner might a mother forget her sucking child than He forget His own. Let this tragedy become a platform for the display of His sufficiency, and may many find their true treasure in heaven, where no earthquake ever comes. Hope on, hope always.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

You pray for God's mercy on your neighbors, and this is good. But do you not know that the mercy we wish to obtain from God, we must first impart to our neighbors? He who prays for the suffering and yet neglects the suffering soul within his own reach has not yet understood prayer. If you would have God support them in their affliction, then become yourself the hand of that support. The earthquake in Venezuela has swallowed houses and lives, yet every day the earthquake of poverty, hunger, and despair swallows souls in your own streets. Do you see them? Do you feed them? Do you clothe them? For the Lord says, "Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy." If the flame of calamity consumes your neighbor's house, your prayer must be oil to quench the fire, and that oil is almsgiving, that oil is compassion made tangible.

I hear you cry, "God is in control." Truly He is, but He has placed you in control of your own purse, your own hands, your own feet. Why do you fold them in prayer alone when they could be instruments of providence? The widow who lost her husband, the child buried beneath rubble, the family without shelter, these are not mere news from a distant land. They are members of the same body, and if one member suffers, all suffer. Do you feel their pain as your own? Or do you pray quickly and return to your meal, your soft bed, your secure roof, thinking you have done your duty? That prayer is a mask of mercy covering a spirit of negligence. God does not hear words alone; He hears the cry of the poor, and He looks to see if your hand moves with your lips.

Therefore, if you truly desire mercy to descend upon Venezuela, let mercy ascend first from your own heart and home. Give what you can, even from your need, not merely your excess. Fast, weep, mourn for those who have perished, for this present time is a season of lamentation, not of laughter. We live in perilous days, and the love of many has grown cold because each looks only to his own affairs. Do not be like those who see a neighbor's calamity and pass by, lest on That Day you hear, "I was homeless, and you gave Me no shelter; I was in anguish, and you did not comfort Me." Pray, yes, but pray with hands that give, feet that visit, a heart that breaks. For as we do to our fellow servants, so shall our Lord do to us. This is the true and great mercy that saves.
