Neighbor’s earthquake tragedies disgrace betwitche ruins, misery sabotage pictures rebuke

We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, lifting up our neighbors in Venezuela who are enduring such profound suffering after the earthquake. The devastation, lost homes, lost loved ones, and lives shattered, is more than any human heart can bear alone. Yet we know that God is indeed in control, even when the world seems to crumble around us. The Bible tells us in Psalm 46:1-3, "God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we won’t be afraid, though the earth changes, though the mountains are shaken into the heart of the seas; though its waters roar and are troubled, though the mountains tremble with their swelling." Even in the midst of ruin, God remains our unshakable refuge.

We rebuke the spirit of despair and destruction that seeks to steal hope from those who are grieving. The enemy comes only to steal, kill, and destroy, but Jesus came that they may have life and have it abundantly (John 10:10). We stand against any sabotage, whether physical or spiritual, that would seek to deepen their misery. The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18). We declare that their suffering will not be in vain, and that God will turn their mourning into joy (Jeremiah 31:13).

We also lift up their need for provision and mercy. The Lord is our provider, as it says in Philippians 4:19, "My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus." We pray that He would open the floodgates of heaven to meet their physical needs, food, shelter, clothing, and safety. But even more, we pray for their spiritual and emotional needs. May they feel the love of Christ surrounding them, even in their darkest moments. May they encounter believers who will show them the love of God through acts of kindness and compassion.

We must also address the mention of "betwitche" in this request. Scripture is clear that witchcraft and any form of occult practice are detestable to the Lord. Deuteronomy 18:10-12 warns, "There shall not be found with you anyone who makes his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, one who uses divination, one who practices sorcery, or an enchanter, or a sorcerer, or a charmer, or a consulter with a familiar spirit, or a wizard, or a necromancer. For whoever does these things is an abomination to Yahweh." If there are any who have turned to such practices in their despair, we pray for their repentance and deliverance. The blood of Jesus is powerful to break every chain and set the captives free (Isaiah 61:1).

We pray now for our neighbors in Venezuela:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts broken for those who are suffering in Venezuela. Lord, we ask that You would be their comfort in this time of unimaginable loss. Wrap Your arms around them and let them feel Your presence in a tangible way. Provide for their every need, both physical and spiritual. Open doors of opportunity for aid and restoration, and raise up Your people to be Your hands and feet to those in need.

We rebuke every spirit of destruction and despair that seeks to keep them in bondage. We declare that Your light will shine in the darkness, and that hope will rise from the ashes. Heal their hearts, Lord, and restore what has been lost. Bring beauty from these ashes, as You promise in Isaiah 61:3.

For those who do not yet know You, we pray that this time of suffering would draw them to Your love. May they encounter You in a real and personal way, and may they come to know the hope that is found only in Jesus Christ. We ask all of this in the mighty name of Jesus, the name above all names, the only name by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12). Amen.

To those who are suffering, we encourage you to hold fast to the promises of God. He has not forgotten you. In Lamentations 3:22-23, we read, "It is because of Yahweh’s loving kindnesses that we are not consumed, because his compassion doesn’t fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness." Even when the world seems to be falling apart, God’s faithfulness remains. Cling to Him, and allow His people to walk alongside you in this difficult time. If you do not yet know Jesus as your Savior, we urge you to turn to Him today. He is the only one who can bring true peace and healing to your soul. Romans 10:9 says, "If you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." There is no better time than now to surrender your life to Him.

We've been holding your words and the image they paint, neighbors in Venezuela, the ground suddenly violent, homes and loved ones gone, lives cut short. It’s a heavy weight to carry from afar, and we're with you in that ache. When a tragedy this big hits people you care about, the grief doesn’t stay neatly contained; it shakes our own hearts too. We’re so sorry for what they’re enduring and for the pain you’re carrying as you watch.

There’s an old wisdom that shared sorrow is half-sorrow, and it reminds us that simply not being alone in the grief matters. Your prayers are a way of being present with them, even across the miles. Right now, in the chaos of survival, the most powerful thing you might offer, besides prayer, is a connection that says “you are not forgotten.” If you have any way to reach them, even a brief message or arranging for a local church to check in and bring food or water can be a lifeline. When so much has been stripped away, especially the preciousness of life itself, the tangible love of the body of Christ can be a place of shelter. But if all you can do right now is keep them before the Lord, that is truly enough. Let yourself mourn with them; the Lord sees every tear and hears every cry.

We’re praying with you.

Lord Jesus, in the wreckage and sorrow of these neighbors in Venezuela, be their safe haven. Wrap up the broken-hearted, the injured, and those who have lost everyone. Provide shelter, clean water, and the mercy of helpful hands. Let them know they are not alone. And for this one who prays, give a quiet heart and the assurance that You hold every grieving soul close. We entrust them to Your keeping, in Your name. Amen.

Earth's foundations shake, mountains totter, and the sea roars with anguish, yet the soul that has fled for refuge to Christ stands upon a rock that cannot be moved. These disasters in Venezuela are but a faint echo of that final shaking when all that can be shaken shall be removed. In every fallen wall and passing bell, hear the voice of mercy mingling with judgment. The Lord is slow to anger and plenteous in mercy; He wrings His hands over the calamity, yet His sword of justice sleeps not rusted in its sheath but held back by the hand of longsuffering. This is the season when His overtaking mercy may draw near to the afflicted, for God often chooses the furnace to speak with men. Let none suppose that outward ruin is the worst of sorrows; the earthquake of a heart unsheltered from divine wrath is infinitely more to be dreaded.

Yet how many grasp at a false hope, whispering, "God is merciful," while they remain strangers to the new birth, their faces never turned from sin. True mercy is no nod of indulgence to the impenitent. It is a transforming flood that makes all things new. The mercy that saves is the mercy that leads to the cross, where the Son of God bore the quaking of eternal justice in His own body. To all who cry out from the dust, the Great Interpreter is sent, who opens the ear and sheds abroad the sweetness of pardon. He seeks the lost amid the ruins, touches the leper, and makes the sinner feel the way of salvation as well as know it. The gates of society may close, but the gates of mercy stand wide to those who come by faith in Jesus Christ.

Let this distress drive you not to despair but to the feet of the Saviour. Hope in His mercy, yet let that hope be sound: you must feel your need of it, be divorced from every other confidence, and receive it as free, unmerited, sovereign grace. The God of mercy goes before you even now, preventing you with whispers of His love. While you are yet speaking, He hears. Flee from the wrath to come; let the tottering mountains point you to the cleft of the rock. For the contrite heart, there is a sure word: though the earth be removed and the mountains carried into the midst of the sea, we will not fear, for the Lord of hosts is with us, the God of Jacob is our refuge.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

When such calamities strike, when houses collapse and lives are cut short, sorrow overwhelms the heart. It is right to mourn, to let tears flow like fountains, for the wound is deep and the misery beyond words. Yet in this darkness, do not let grief drown the hope we have in God. He is in control, and His mercy is never far from the broken.

Take the Scriptures and plunge into them as into a storehouse of remedies. For every loss, every death, every grief, they carry the medicine of eternal life. The promise of life in Christ Jesus is not found in this passing world; it is a hope unseen. Here we have sorrow upon sorrow, but there, where grief and mourning flee away, we shall be with the Lord forever. Let this be your consolation: the resurrection is real, and those who fall asleep in Christ will rise in glory.

Remember, too, that God desires mercy, not empty sacrifice. His loving-kindness gives not only deliverance from evils but abundant good things. Even in these ruins, His mercy can provide what the suffering need: shelter for the displaced, comfort for the grieving, and strength for the weary. Pray earnestly for your neighbors, that a pure conscience and trust in God may be their crown in the midst of trial, proving that their hope is not in earthly things but in the living God.

So do not be impatient in affliction. Share in their sorrows as your own, for we are one body. Let your prayers rise without ceasing, that divine mercy would visit that broken land, and that all who weep might find, even now, the peace that passes understanding, fixing their eyes on the imperishable crown laid up for those who endure.

The images of collapsed homes and lost loved ones weigh heavily on every heart that hears of this devastation. When the earth itself seems to betray those who walk on it, there are few words that can touch the ache. Yet Scripture does not leave us without light in such darkness. The mercy of God endures forever. That is not a fragile hope, it is the unshakable truth repeated again and again in the psalms, as if God wants to engrave it into our souls: in every circumstance, under every ruin, His mercy remains.

Earthquakes do more than destroy buildings. They shake our false sense of security and remind us that everything in this world that can be shaken will be shaken, until only what cannot be shaken is left. We have seen a tremor of that reality. There is a far greater shaking appointed, a day when the whole earth will reel and every hiding place will fail. That is not given to terrify us without purpose, but to turn our eyes to the only refuge that stands forever: the mercy of God offered in Jesus Christ.

He is the place where mercy and truth have met. God cannot simply overlook evil, it would violate His own justice. But in Christ, the penalty for sin was fully paid, so that God can be both just and the justifier of the one who trusts in Him. This means mercy is not a faint hope or a limited resource. It is a fountain opened, as vast as the heavens are high above the earth. It is not exhausted by the worst of disasters or the deepest of failures. The Lord is not reluctant to show mercy; He delights in it. He looks for the cry of a heart that says, “God, be merciful to me, a sinner.” When that cry rises, whether from a collapsed street or a church gathered in prayer, His ear is open.

So pray with confidence for your neighbors. Ask God to pour out not only provision and physical rescue, but also the deeper healing of souls. He is sovereign over every aftershock and every rescue effort. It is not that we manipulate Him by our prayers, but that He often stirs up intercession precisely because He intends to show mercy. We see this in Moses, who pleaded for a people who deserved destruction, and God responded with compassion. We see it in Jonah’s mission to Nineveh, a city that had no claim on grace, yet God was eager to relent when they turned from their wickedness. He will have mercy on whom He will have mercy. That sovereignty is our hope, because it means He can sweep even the most broken survivors into His arms.

Keep asking for that mercy: for families digging through rubble, for those who have lost their reason to smile, for the rescue teams, for the grieving. Pray that many in the midst of this horror would see their need of a Savior who conquered death and will one day make all things new. And as you lift them up, never forget that the same mercy you ask for them has already been poured out on you. Grace brought you what you did not deserve; mercy held back the judgment you did deserve. Let that fuel your intercession with both urgency and peace.

May the God whose mercy endures forever draw near to every sufferer, supply every need, and, through the storm of sorrow, cause many to find in Jesus Christ the unshakable ground beneath their feet.

We are deeply moved by the heavy burdens you’ve shared concerning your neighbors in Venezuela who are enduring such profound suffering in the wake of this earthquake tragedy. Our hearts have been united with yours in prayer these past days, lifting up the families and friends who have lost so much—homes, loved ones, and the stability of life as they knew it. We have asked our Heavenly Father to wrap His arms of comfort around them, to bring healing to their grief, and to provide for every need in ways only He can.

We continue to stand in agreement with you, believing that God is indeed in control, even in the midst of such devastation. We have prayed for His mercy to cover their pain, for His provision to meet their physical and emotional needs, and for His presence to be a tangible source of hope in their darkest moments. We’ve also asked the Lord to reveal Himself to them in powerful ways, drawing them closer to His love and truth as they navigate this unimaginable trial.

If the Lord has already moved in response to these prayers—perhaps through unexpected provision, a moment of peace, or a glimmer of hope—we would be so encouraged to hear of it. Please share a praise report so we can rejoice together in His faithfulness. If the needs remain unmet and the burdens still feel overwhelming, we invite you to post this request again. We are committed to walking alongside you and these dear neighbors in persistent prayer, trusting that God hears and answers according to His perfect will.

May the Lord bless you abundantly for your compassion and for bringing this need before His throne. We pray that He strengthens you as well, filling you with His peace and assurance as you continue to seek Him on behalf of those who are suffering. In Jesus’ Name, we pray. Amen.
