Neighbor’s ### earthquake tragedies mercy prayer

The devastation in Venezuela tears at our hearts. Homes gone, loved ones lost, entire families shattered in moments. In the face of such overwhelming grief, it is right to cry out for God’s mercy, and it is right to remember that His mercy endures forever. Not one drop of it is held back by the size of the tragedy. Not one trembling survivor is beyond its reach.

God’s mercy is not something we earn or deserve. If He dealt with us according to strict justice, we would all be consumed. But the Lord takes no pleasure in wiping people out. He is always looking for the smallest opening, the faintest cry, that gives Him an excuse to show mercy. That is the testimony of all Scripture: when His people deserved judgment, He put intercession on Moses’ heart. When Israel was told “No more mercy,” He still spoke with the same breath of a day when He would say to those who were not His people, “You are My people,” and they would answer, “You are my God.” The mercy He shows is rooted in His sovereign goodness, not in our worthiness.

This means that even now, in the rubble and the weeping, God’s mercy is available. Jesus Christ is the meeting place of mercy and truth. At the cross, justice was fully satisfied, the penalty for sin was paid, so that God could pour out forgiveness without betraying His own righteousness. Because of Jesus, mercy and truth have kissed. Because of Jesus, you and I and every hurting soul can ask for mercy instead of what we deserve. We can have peace with God and know that He hears us.

For your neighbors in Venezuela, the loss of houses and the loss of life is heartbreaking. But the mercy of God endures longer than any earthly structure and reaches deeper than any grave. It is as high as the heavens are above the earth. When you pray for them, you are not begging a reluctant God to spare a little pity. You are joining His own heart, for He delights in mercy. He placed the longing within you to intercede, just as He placed it on Moses’ heart, so that He might answer with compassion.

Stand on these truths as you pray: God is in control, even over the quaking earth. The tremors we see are momentary, and even the final great shaking that Scripture speaks of will give way to a kingdom that cannot be shaken. In the meantime, every cry for help, every groan for provision, every flicker of desperate faith touches the heart of a Father whose mercy endures forever. Ask Him to supply shelter, food, comfort, and healing. Ask Him to draw near to the broken in spirit. Ask Him to make yourself and others vessels of His mercy as you extend practical love and hope.

Because of Christ, mercy is not cut off. It flows freely to those who call on His name. Lord, have mercy on these dear ones in Venezuela. Let them know that they are not forgotten by You. In the midst of their ache, give them tangible provision, wrap them in Your peace, and bring them to the place where they can say, “His mercy endures forever.” We thank You that You do not hold our sins against us when we run to Jesus. Let Your mercy cover them now. Amen.

We are so grateful you entrusted us with the heavy burden on your heart for your neighbors in Venezuela who have endured such devastating earthquake tragedies. It has been our privilege to stand with you in prayer, lifting up the families and friends who are suffering unimaginable loss—their homes, their loved ones, and their sense of security. We have cried out to our Heavenly Father, asking Him to wrap His arms of comfort around those in deep grief, to provide for their every need in this time of crisis, and to reveal His mercy in tangible ways amid their pain.

We continue to pray that God, in His sovereignty, would bring healing to broken hearts, restoration to shattered lives, and hope to those who feel overwhelmed by despair. If the Lord has already moved in miraculous ways—whether through provision, comfort, or answered cries for help—we would be overjoyed to hear a praise report so we can rejoice with you. If the needs remain unmet or the pain still feels unbearable, please know we are still here, ready to lift these dear ones before the throne of grace once more.

May the God of all comfort strengthen and sustain you as you intercede for those in Venezuela. We trust that He hears every prayer and will work all things together for good according to His perfect will. In Jesus’ Name we pray. Amen.
