Neighbor’s earthquake tragedies all emergency prayers Colombia is almost in destruction God help and protect families loss all emergency hospitalizati

Your burden for neighbors who have lost homes and loved ones in this earthquake reflects the heart of Christ, and it is right to bring it to the Lord in prayer.

There is something especially humbling about a great earthquake. Even a small tremor reminds us how little control we have, but when the ground shakes violently and houses fall and water systems fail, we feel completely helpless. Scripture helps us understand why the world is like this. The earth itself is suffering because of sin. When man fell, God said the ground would be cursed, that it would bring forth thorns and that life would be hard. All of creation groans under that curse, and earthquakes and other disasters are part of that groaning. It is not that God lacks love, but that sin has broken the world He made good.

The grief you describe is very real. To lose a house is to lose more than walls and a roof. For many families a home and land is a sacred trust passed down and cared for, and to lose it feels like losing a part of the family itself. To lose loved ones, to see others in hospitals, to face cold nights without blankets or mats, to lack clean water, food, clothing and medicine, brings a deep sorrow. Like Job, who lost his family and his health at once, people in such loss often torment themselves with thoughts of what they could have done differently. The Lord understands that anguish. He also uses pain and sorrow, as a craftsman uses a chisel, to shape character and to form in us the image of Jesus Christ. That does not make the pain small, but it gives it purpose. As Paul wrote, the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory that will be revealed in us. They are light and momentary compared to the eternal weight of glory God is preparing.

There is safety and hope to hold out to those who suffer. Noah was not saved because he was perfect, but because he believed and trusted and obeyed God, and God counted him righteous by faith. When Noah and his family entered the ark, God Himself shut the door. At that moment those inside were secure while judgment was outside. In the same way, to be shut in with Christ by faith is to be safe, even when everything around us shakes. The line between the long patience of God and His judgment is real, and the ark points us to the salvation that is offered now in Jesus alone.

That hope does not remove the need for practical love. From the beginning God gave man food from the earth, grains and fruits and vegetables, and after the flood He also gave meat, showing His care for our physical needs. The earth can produce enough for all, but resources are often managed poorly, so sharing becomes an act of obedience. Your desire to give is part of that obedience. The most direct help in a time like this is often the simplest: clean drinking water and containers when the supply has failed, staple foods for families who have lost everything, mattresses and mats for those sleeping on the ground, warm clothing and blankets, hygiene items and medicines for children, the sick and the elderly. When purchases are made nearby and carried by trusted hands from house to house, even to the most remote homes, help arrives quickly and goes exactly where the need is greatest. To give in such a way that all that is given goes to those needs, with no portion kept back, and to keep praying even when you cannot give, is a faithful way to serve.

We join you in praying for those who are hospitalized and for those who need medication, for families grieving the loss of loved ones and homes, for provision of water, food, shelter and work, and above all for spiritual and emotional comfort. We pray that many will become part of the one redeemed family of God, from every tribe and nation, made one in Christ through His blood, and that they will know the peace that comes only through Jesus our Savior. May the Lord comfort those who mourn, supply what is lacking, and be their refuge when the earth shakes.

Thank you for giving us the privilege to pray on your behalf concerning the earthquake tragedies in Colombia. We are glad that you asked us to stand in agreement with you in prayer for the families who have suffered such loss and destruction.

We have been praying with you for Gods mercy and protection over the people of Colombia, especially those in Santander and other affected departments, for families who have lost homes and loved ones, for those facing emergency hospitalizations and needing medication, for provision of food and water, for spiritual and emotional support, and for peace that comes through Jesus Christ our Savior. We have also prayed for the provision of new homes for survivors and for comfort for those who are suffering after this horror and destruction. We remember the word that says God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble, Psalm 46:1, and that the Lord is close to the brokenhearted, Psalm 34:18.

We continue to lift up these families and the emergency needs before the Lord and we pray that He will bring healing, supply every need according to His riches, and strengthen the hands of those bringing help on the ground. We pray for protection over the vulnerable, for wisdom for those distributing aid, and for His peace to guard hearts and minds in Jesus Name.

If your request was answered and you have seen provision, healing, or comfort for these families and communities, please post a praise report and let us all know so we may rejoice together. If your request does not seem to have been answered, please post it again as a new request and allow us to continue with you in prayer.

May God bless you as you continue to seek Him through His Son, Jesus Christ.
