We come before the Lord with hearts full of gratitude for your desire to grow in Him and seek His will in every area of your life. It is clear you are longing for a deeper walk with Christ, and we join with you in praying for these blessings, prayer life, reading God’s Word, wisdom, knowledge, freedom, purity, discipline, focus, consistency, and obedience. These are all beautiful and godly pursuits, and we stand with you in asking the Father to strengthen you in each one.
Heavenly Father, we thank You for this dear brother or sister in Christ who is seeking You with such sincerity. Lord, we ask that You would ignite in them a fervent and consistent prayer life. Teach them to pray without ceasing, as Your Word commands in 1 Thessalonians 5:17, and help them to find joy and intimacy in communing with You. May their prayers be bold, persistent, and aligned with Your will, trusting that You hear and answer according to Your perfect timing.
We also pray for a hunger and thirst for Your Word. Lord, open their eyes to see the wonders in Your law, as Psalm 119:18 says, "Open my eyes, that I may see wondrous things in your law." Give them discipline to read, study, and meditate on Scripture daily, that it may dwell richly in their heart and transform their mind. Let Your Word be a lamp to their feet and a light to their path, guiding them in every decision and circumstance.
Father, we ask for wisdom and knowledge to overflow in their life. James 1:5 tells us, "But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach; and it will be given to him." We pray that You would grant them discernment to navigate life’s challenges, especially as they consider living overseas. Give them clarity about where You are calling them and the courage to step out in faith, trusting You to provide every need.
Speaking of provision, Lord, we lift up their financial concerns to You. You are Jehovah Jireh, the God who provides, and we trust that You will meet every need according to Your riches in glory. Philippians 4:19 assures us, "My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus." Help them to steward their resources wisely, to work diligently, and to trust You rather than money. Guard their heart from the love of money, which is the root of all kinds of evil, and instead, let them seek first Your kingdom and Your righteousness, knowing that all these things will be added to them.
We also pray for freedom, purity, and discipline in their life. Lord, break every chain of bondage that may be hindering their walk with You. Set them free from any sin, addiction, or stronghold that does not align with Your holiness. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 reminds us, "Or don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s." Help them to flee from sexual immorality, impurity, and any form of sin, and instead, pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace.
Father, we ask for focus and consistency in their spiritual disciplines. In a world full of distractions, help them to fix their eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of their faith. Let them run with endurance the race set before them, as Hebrews 12:1-2 encourages. Strengthen them to be consistent in prayer, reading Your Word, fellowship with other believers, and living out their faith in obedience to You.
Lord, we also pray for their desire to live overseas. If this is Your will for them, open the doors and make the path clear. Give them favor with authorities, wisdom in logistics, and peace in the transition. If it is not Your will, close the doors and redirect their steps according to Your perfect plan. Above all, let them seek Your kingdom first, trusting that You will guide their steps.

Finally, Lord, we pray that they would grow in obedience to You. Help them to surrender every area of their life, finances, relationships, career, and future plans, to Your lordship. Let them walk in the light as You are in the light, having fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ Your Son cleansing them from all sin (1 John 1:7). We all lack wisdom; we are poor, foolish creatures. But if any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. Ask in faith. A man who has no wisdom can have faith. But do not ask with self-conceit; that tears the chariot wheels from prayer so that it drags heavily and cannot move an inch.
You ask for a prayer life and for reading. Let the Book be for your own soul. Beware of reading the Bible for other people; get your own text, your own morsel of marrow and fatness out of Scripture. Let private prayer be kept up with a view to your own edification and growth in grace. If the dark suggestion comes, Forsake the closet, spurn it. Prayer, mighty prayer, will yet prevail if it has but time. Go again seven times. Do not let a cold meeting or a foreign land excuse you; the united supplications of the church have great power, but they cannot stand in place of your own closet.

You ask for freedom and purity. Keep thyself pure. Purity and charity must not be set at odds. Purity went down and charity went up in our day, but God has not made them rivals. Freedom that is not purity is no liberty at all; it is the worst slavery. Unholiness hinders prayer. If your prayers seem dead, search your heart; failure in prayer may be caused by sin. Put away every known iniquity, and then cry, Come nearer to me, for I am a sinful man. That is humility, and it is also faith.
As to living overseas and money, the Lord knows you have need of these things. The holiest of characters take more matters to God than you and I are accustomed to do; take every step of this foreign life to Him. Yet do not make this life your all. If your portion is in this life, what will you do in the life to come? Money is a poor god and a worse portion. Seek first the kingdom. It may be that God has placed you overseas and in narrow circumstances to teach you to mount above the world, for trials give new life to prayer. Jacob was made to limp before the full answer came, and he went halting all his days; better to limp into blessing than to walk proudly into ruin.
Above all, do not mistake these duties for the gospel. You need the blood mark on your own door, for all your reading and praying will not save you. Rest in Jesus Christ alone. He is the only ground of acceptance. If you lack wisdom, ask Him; if you lack strength, He gives liberally. Let your daily cry be, not Depart from me, but Come nearer to me. All your hope is stayed on Him.

You have brought many needs, and they are connected. Begin with prayer, because it is the root of the rest. Do not say you have no need of prayer, either your own or the church's. Paul did not say, What need have I of prayer? though he was greater than those who prayed for him. Peter was rescued when the church prayed earnestly for him. If you think you have no need, that is the very reason you need it. But prayer does not replace effort. If we sleep, the prayers of others will not profit us; if we wake, their prayers carry us. God's part and your part must go together.
For reading, wisdom, and knowledge, do not stay always at the foundation. Full assurance of the faith must become purity of life. One who keeps going around the letters and never builds the house gains nothing. Let Scripture read you as much as you read it. Ask for wisdom, then obey what you learn. Knowledge without conduct is not wisdom.
For freedom, purity, discipline, focus, consistency, and obedience, true freedom is freedom from sin, not permission to follow every desire. Be an example in word, in conduct, in love, in faith, in purity. That requires rule and measure. Put a rein on your habits early. An unbridled life becomes harder to govern. The Lord took His disciples aside when He would train them for trial. Receive the small daily discipline of regular prayer, chastity, temperance, guarded speech, and faithful work. These are the pattern of a Christian life.
Living overseas and money are a present test. Do not let a foreign land become an excuse for laxity. Wherever you are, live as a citizen of heaven. Place yourself under the prayers and order of faithful Christians. As for money, use it for necessity and open-handed generosity, especially to the saints, not as fuel for anxiety or greed. If you have little, let contentment and discipline guard you; if you have enough, let mercy guard you. Financial pressure can make you patient and tried if you continue instant in prayer. Love makes commands easy, the Spirit assists, hope lightens, tribulation makes you hardy, and prayer supplies the rest.
I will set these needs before the Lord, but do not wait on my prayer alone. Rise early, call on God, read the Scriptures, and do what you already know. The one who watches and asks will not be put to shame.

That walk happens as you stay in fellowship with God through Jesus, choosing purity and righteousness and holiness before Him each day. God will strengthen and help you as you make practical choices to guard that walk. That may mean doing some cleaning up around your home and removing magazines, images, websites or other influences that feed temptation and distract your mind. Clearing those things away is a way of making room for the Spirit to lead you and to keep your focus clear.
