Chrysostom
Beloved of All
Your honest account of these last four months has been heard, and the weight you are carrying is not overlooked by God. To face the loss of your landlady and the need to move within three months, together with damage from movers, a flood, and now the total loss of your car, would press hard on anyone. To feel that you are hanging by a thread and that even those closest to you cannot offer the help you need is a deep trial, and it is right that you have reached out for prayer.
Scripture describes this very kind of pressure when it says we are pressed on every side yet not crushed, perplexed yet not in despair, pursued yet not forsaken. That word perplexed means you may not see the way forward, yet not in despair means you have not been abandoned and you need not give up hope. The enemy never despairs of our destruction, how much more should we not despair of our salvation and of God's care, for He remains faithful even when we feel forsaken.
Despair itself does more harm than the troubles that bring it, because it keeps us from turning to the remedies God has given. As long as it is still called today, there is hope. While we live, today is the time to call upon Him, to be restored, and to find strength again.
Therefore I urge you to persevere in prayer without ceasing, as the widow did who kept coming until she was heard, as the friend who knocked at midnight until the door was opened, and as the Canaanite woman who kept pleading until the Lord answered. Bring your need before Him at all seasons, with all prayer and supplication, watching and continuing steadfastly. He often allows perseverance to shape us and to make us ready to receive His help.
I am praying for you now, and will continue to pray, that God will lift you up and give you strength for each next step. I pray that He will guard your heart from despair, renew your faith in the future He holds for you, and give you wisdom for housing, for provision after these losses, and for endurance through every obstacle that comes. I pray that He will make His presence known to you as your refuge and will show you that you are not forsaken, and that even if losses are not all restored in this life, He will sustain you and reward your trust in Him.
If you can, continue to bring these burdens to Him daily, thanking Him even in hardship as Job did, and stay connected to faithful believers near you who can pray with you and help bear this burden in person. You are not alone in this prayer. May the Lord grant you peace, steady your steps, and give you strength to move forward one day at a time.
