Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

You carry a heavy burden, bearing wounds from the hand of your own child. The pain of a mother seeing her son destroy what she has built and threaten her very safety is a furnace that few can fathom. Yet know this: the God who knit him in your womb is not distant from your cry. He permits such trials not to crush you, but to draw you nearer to the only true Healer.

The wrath your son displays is not the anger God implanted for good. Anger was given as a sting against the devil and against our own sins, never to set us in array against one another. Your son has turned his passion upon the wrong enemy. Instead of waging war against the pride and rage that devour his soul, he has become like a camel feeding on thorns, nourishing the unreasonable passions that pierce and wound the rational. Wealth, comfort, and the lack of affliction often spawn such fruit: rapine, violence, and the unbridled tongue. But here in poverty of spirit there is room for virtue. You are not without hope, because Christ still reigns over every disordered mind.

This home he expects to return to is not a place for his healing while his heart remains unbroken. The restraining order stands as a bitter mercy, a boundary to prevent further sin against you, and perhaps to spare him from shedding blood in his blindness. It is no lack of love to keep him at a distance; true love refuses to feed the wildfire. As the Apostle would not let a disciple act with fear, nor permit teachers to be despised, so you must guard the peace God gives you. Do not let a misguided affection open the door to ruin. He must find his way through the consequences until his mind is truly set right, lest he destroy himself and you.

Pray for him in this way: plead that the Lord’s hand fall not in vengeance but in healing. When Elymas opposed the truth, Paul pronounced temporary blindness, not to destroy, but to give opportunity for repentance. So too your son’s afflictions, his confinement, his coming judgment, these may be the very means to humble him. Christ, when He touched Peter’s mother-in-law, not only quenched the fever but gave perfect health at once. He can do the same for the soul that rages. Ask not merely for a straightened mind, but for a new creation. Only the fear of God can cast out the arrogance that scorns all authority.

You say you are entering therapy, and that is well; but remember that no physician’s art can accomplish what the Lord does in an instant. The balm you need for your own heart is the oil of thanksgiving and the wine of hope. Do not remember injuries. The ways of revengeful men lead to death, but you are called to life. Entrust vengeance to God. Let not the memory of furniture smashed and days darkened become a thorn in your own breast. Cast every care upon Him, for He cares for you.

Watch, then, for the dawn after this long night. Many barbarians, far from the covenant, have traveled from a strange land to worship Christ with awe. So may your son return from his wanderings, a suppliant trembling and believing. Until that day, stand on the Rock. The Lord Himself is a stronghold to them that fear Him; you have no cause to tremble before a raging man when the Almighty is your shield. Be not a child of wrath, imitating his passion, but a daughter of peace. Let the courts do their work, let the law be a tutor, and let your silent endurance preach louder than any word. And when you lie down, commend your son into the hands of the One who burst the gates of hell itself, knowing that if He can loose those prisoners, He can certainly loose the chains that bind your child’s mind.

Thank you for sharing this with such honesty. I can hear the weight you are carrying, the love for your son, the fear of what he may do, and the grief over everything that has been destroyed. It is right to bring this before God and to ask others to stand with you. I want you to know that we are joining our prayers to yours, and I believe the Lord hears the cry of a mother’s heart.

Prayer is more than just words spoken in desperation; it is the very breath of a relationship with a Father who cares. When you come to Him, you are not crying into an empty void. You come as His child, and His ear is always open to the children’s cry. So do not stop lifting up your hands toward Him for the life of your son. Even when you cannot find the words, the Spirit ministers assurance and comfort as you wait. The prayer that rises from the depths of a broken heart, the effectual, fervent prayer, accomplishes much. That is the kind of prayer I believe you are already living, and God is moving even when you cannot see it.

Your son’s mind is tangled in darkness, and no mere human effort can untie those knots. The Scriptures tell us that our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against spiritual forces of evil. Jesus taught us to pray, “Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.” That is what we are asking for him: that God would break the power of the evil one over his life, silence the lies he believes, and restore his mind. There was a time when he was different, and God is able to do that restoring work again. The only truly safe place for him, and for you, is in Christ. So while you continue to take wise precautions with legal measures and boundaries, the most powerful weapon you have is intercessory prayer. It reaches beyond your own needs and brings a guilty, hurting world before the throne of grace.

Fear is a natural response when your eyes are on the threats, but the cure for fear is remembering the Lord. He has not lost control of your son. He knows every detail of that courtroom, that mental health facility, that jail cell. He knows what it will take to bring your son to a place where he stops running. Running from God is running from his own good, from the best thing that could ever happen to him, though he cannot see it now. Pray that he would come to the end of himself and cry out, “God be merciful to me, a sinner.” That is the prayer that opens the door to a real relationship, apart from which all other prayer is meaningless. The greatest deliverance your son needs is not just from anger or violence but from the eternal separation that sin brings.

Remember also that you are not alone. You mentioned starting therapy, and that is a good and practical step toward healing. God often uses such means while the ultimate healing belongs to Him. I am grateful you are pursuing that. And in the praying, be honest with God about your own wounds. You have been brought very low; pray with David, “Deliver me from my persecutors, for they are stronger than I.” When you feel fragile, when you don’t know how you will continue to pay the emotional and physical costs, the Lord ministers to your heart. He gives strength where yours is gone. His grace is sufficient, and His strength is made perfect in weakness.

We are praying with you, not just for a quick fix, but for a true work of God in both of you. We are asking that the Lord would turn your son’s heart back, protect him from himself, and give you wisdom and courage to walk the hard line between love and appropriate boundaries. May your home be a place of peace again, and may your son become a testimony of what only God can do. Keep holding on to the Lord, for He is in the deliverance business.
