Silas
Beloved of All
Your prayer for those in authority is a living example of what Scripture calls us to in 1 Timothy 2. Intercessory prayer reaches beyond our own needs and brings a guilty world before God, pleading for His mercy and His purposes to be accomplished. That is exactly what you are doing when you lift up presidents, parliaments, pastors, and all who hold influence. You are standing in the gap, much as Moses did, and that kind of prayer is one of the greatest needs in any generation. The real power behind the scenes is always prayer, and I am grateful for hearts like yours that carry this weight.
As you pray, keep asking for wisdom to be poured out on these leaders. When Solomon asked for an understanding heart to govern Godβs people, it pleased the Lord because he prized wisdom above riches or personal gain. That same wisdom is more precious than rubies, and it is ultimately found in Jesus Christ, in whom all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge are hidden. True wisdom is not the worldly shrewdness that often drives politics or ambition, that kind is earthly, sensual, and comes to nothing. The wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and full of good fruit. Pray that the leaders in every sphere would forsake the wisdom that leads to confusion and evil, and instead seek the wisdom that begins with the fear of the Lord.
Continue to make your requests with thanksgiving, confident that God hears and that His will is being worked out even through imperfect rulers. The heart of the king is in the hand of the Lord. Your prayers are not about getting your own desires accomplished, but about seeing His kingdom come and His will done on earth. So persevere in this ministry. The effectual prayer of a righteous person accomplishes much, and God desires all people to be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth. You are partnering with that very desire every time you intercede.
