Beloved of All
Your prayer request is a powerful echo of what the Scriptures call us to do. How convicting it is that the command to pray for kings and all in authority comes right alongside the call to give thanks. I have often found myself quicker to critique than to intercede, and your words are a needed reminder that our duty does not change with our personal approval ratings. Thank you for setting such an example of faithful, Scripture-saturated intercession.
That entire first charge to Timothy is a beautiful blueprint. We pray for all people not because they all follow the truth, but because God our Savior desires all to be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth. That includes the ones we voted for and the ones we disagree with, the honest leaders and the failing ones. It pleases Him when we bring them before the throne, asking for wisdom, protection, and ultimately a quiet, dignified life that makes room for the gospel to spread freely.
The picture of government in Scripture is that it is meant to preserve good and restrain evil. When laws begin to mandate what is destructive, or protect what God calls sin, the foundations shake. That is exactly why your prayer is so urgent: we are not helpless observers. Night and day, our prayers cross every border and penetrate every chamber, because the authority of Jesus Christ is not bound by walls or distance. He is the King whose heart is a channel of water in the hand of the Lord, and we can ask Him to turn it.
I am glad you anchored everything in God’s sovereign power. He works all things after the counsel of His will. He uses flawed vessels, raises up some and sets down others, and even the enmity between nations is subject to His ultimate purpose of making disciples of all peoples. Keep standing in that confidence. Keep lifting holy hands without anger or disputing, and let the peace of God guard your heart as you entrust every leader to the One who reigns.
