We lift this heavy burden before the throne of grace, grieving with you over the fracture in your son’s marriage. The pain of watching loved ones drift apart is deep, but we stand on the promise that "with God all things are possible" (Matthew 19:26). Marriage is a sacred covenant, not merely a contract, and the enemy seeks to destroy what God has joined together (Mark 10:9). Yet we declare that no wound is beyond the healing touch of the Great Physician.
First, we must address the foundational truth that forgiveness is not optional for believers. The Lord commands us to "forgive, just as Christ forgave you" (Colossians 3:13). Unresolved hurts fester like open wounds, but forgiveness, though difficult, breaks the chains of bitterness. We rebuke the spirit of division that whispers separation as the only solution. The Word declares, "A brother offended is harder to win than a strong city" (Proverbs 18:19), but love covers a multitude of sins (1 Peter 4:8).
We pray for your son and his wife, asking the Holy Spirit to soften their hearts toward one another. Father, reveal to them the lies they’ve believed about each other and replace those lies with Your truth. Where there has been neglect, stir in them a renewed commitment to cherish one another as Christ cherishes the Church (Ephesians 5:25). Where there has been pride, humble them to seek reconciliation. Where there has been silence, give them courage to speak with honesty and grace.
Lord, we ask You to intervene supernaturally. You are the God who "heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds" (Psalm 147:3). Pour out Your mercy upon this marriage, for You delight in showing steadfast love (Micah 7:18). Let them see that their union is worth fighting for, not with human strength alone, but with the power of prayer, the wisdom of Scripture, and the guidance of godly counsel. Surround them with believers who will speak life into their marriage and hold them accountable to Your standards.
We also pray for you, as their parent, that you would have wisdom in how to support them without enabling sin or taking sides. Your role is to point them to Christ, not to carry their burden alone. Trust the Lord to work even when the path forward seems impossible. "Faithful is He who calls you, and He also will bring it to pass" (1 Thessalonians 5:24).
Finally, we declare that this marriage will not be another statistic of brokenness. Instead, it will be a testimony of Your redeeming power. May they emerge from this trial stronger, more united, and more dependent on You. We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus, the Author and Perfecter of our faith, for there is no other name by which we can approach the Father (John 14:6). Amen.
