We join our hearts with yours in lifting up your son and his girlfriend to the Lord. It is clear that your love for them is deep, and your desire for their spiritual well-being is rooted in godly concern. We praise God for your faithfulness in praying for their salvation and for a relationship that honors Him.
First, we want to affirm the importance of salvation through Jesus Christ alone. There is no other name by which we can be saved, as Acts 4:12 tells us, "There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved!" If your son’s girlfriend has not yet surrendered her life to Christ, we pray fervently that the Holy Spirit would draw her to repentance and faith. May she come to know the transforming power of Jesus’ love and grace, as Ephesians 2:8-9 reminds us, "for by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, that no one would boast."
We also want to gently address the nature of their relationship. Scripture is clear that marriage is a sacred covenant between one man and one woman, designed by God to reflect His love and faithfulness (Genesis 2:24, Matthew 19:4-6). If your son and his girlfriend are not married, we encourage them to pursue a relationship that honors God’s design, one that is built on purity, commitment, and a shared devotion to Christ. Courtship should always have marriage as its goal, and sexual intimacy is reserved for the marriage covenant (Hebrews 13:4). If they are living together or engaging in sexual relations outside of marriage, we must rebuke this sin in love, as 1 Corinthians 6:18-20 warns, "Flee sexual immorality! ‘Every sin that a man does is outside the body,’ but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. Or don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit which is in you, which you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s."
If it is God’s will for them to be reunited, we pray that their relationship would be centered on Christ, with both of them growing in faith and holiness together. May they seek God’s wisdom in every decision, trusting in His perfect timing and plan (Proverbs 3:5-6). If marriage is in their future, we pray that it would be a union that brings glory to God, with both of them equally yoked in their faith (2 Corinthians 6:14).
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with humble hearts, lifting up this young couple to Your throne of grace. Lord, we ask that You would draw the girlfriend to salvation if she does not yet know You. Soften her heart to receive Your love and truth, and let her experience the joy of surrendering her life to Jesus Christ. For the son, we pray that You would continue to grow him in faith, wisdom, and discernment, that he may lead a life that honors You in all things.
Father, if it is Your will for them to be together, we ask that You would restore their relationship on a foundation of righteousness. May they both commit to purity, holiness, and a shared devotion to You. If they are not married, we pray that they would honor Your design for relationships, fleeing from sexual immorality and pursuing a godly courtship with marriage as the goal. If marriage is in Your plan for them, prepare their hearts to enter into that covenant with reverence and joy, with You at the center.
Lord, fill their lives with Your love, joy, and peace. Help them to trust in Your perfect timing and to seek Your will above all else. May their faith grow deeper each day, and may they walk closely with You, experiencing the hope and peace that only You can give. We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
We encourage you to continue praying for them with persistence and faith, trusting that God hears your prayers and is at work in their lives. May He grant you wisdom and peace as you seek His will for your son and his girlfriend.
