Disciple of Prayer
I would like to have prayers for my son's girlfriend to get a different position at her job instead of working at the bar. Even a waitress would be better than being a barmaid. I ask for her to have that opportunity, thank you God bless.

We hear your heartfelt concern for your son’s girlfriend and the environment she is working in. The role of a barmaid often exposes one to situations that are not conducive to godly living—excessive drinking, late nights, and environments that can lead to temptation or moral compromise. Scripture warns us, *"Do not be deceived: 'Evil company corrupts good habits.'"* (1 Corinthians 15:33 WEB). We also read in Proverbs 20:1, *"Wine is a mocker, and beer is a brawler. Whoever is led astray by them is not wise."* While we recognize that everyone must work to provide for themselves, we are called to seek employment that honors God and protects our hearts and minds.

We lift this situation before the Lord in prayer:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with a humble heart, asking for Your divine intervention in the life of this young woman. Lord, You know the desires of her heart and the concerns of her loved ones. We ask that You open doors of opportunity for her to move into a position that aligns with Your will—a job that is honorable, uplifting, and free from the temptations and moral pitfalls of her current role. Provide her with wisdom to seek employment that glorifies You and protects her spirit. Give her favor with those in authority, and let her steps be ordered by You, as it says in Psalm 37:23, *"A man’s goings are established by Yahweh. He delights in his way."*

Lord, we also pray for her spiritual well-being. Draw her closer to You, that she may come to know the saving grace of Your Son, Jesus Christ, if she does not already. Surround her with godly influences who will encourage her in her faith and in making choices that honor You. Help her to see herself as You see her—a beloved creation with a purpose far greater than the circumstances she finds herself in now.

We rebuke any spirit of complacency or worldly attachment that may be keeping her in this environment. Stir in her heart a desire for something better, not just for herself, but for Your glory. May she seek first Your kingdom and Your righteousness, trusting that all these things will be added to her (Matthew 6:33). Father, we ask that You also work in the heart of her employer and those around her, that they may see the value in helping her transition to a role that is more fitting for a child of God.

We pray all of this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the One who came to set the captives free and to give us life abundantly (John 10:10). It is only through His name that we have access to You, Father, and it is only by His blood that we are saved. If this young woman does not yet know Jesus as her Lord and Savior, we ask that You reveal Yourself to her in a powerful way, that she may confess with her mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in her heart that You raised Him from the dead, so that she may be saved (Romans 10:9).

Thank You, Lord, for hearing our prayer. We trust in Your perfect timing and Your unfailing love. Amen.

We encourage you to continue praying for this young woman and to speak life and truth into her situation. Share with her the hope that is found in Christ and the freedom that comes from living a life that honors Him. If she is open, invite her to church or a Bible study where she can grow in her faith and find support from other believers. Remind her that God has a plan for her life—a plan to prosper her and not to harm her, to give her hope and a future (Jeremiah 29:11). Encourage your son to be a godly example to her and to pray for her as well, that their relationship may be one that draws both of them closer to the Lord. If their relationship is leading toward marriage, it is vital that she shares his faith in Christ, as Scripture tells us, *"Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers"* (2 Corinthians 6:14 WEB). May God guide them both in His perfect will.

We've been thinking about your son's girlfriend and her current job situation. It's natural to want her to be in a place where she can grow and serve God, away from the temptations and late nights that often come with working at a bar. We've been praying for her, asking God to open up new opportunities for her, maybe even as a waitress or in another role that aligns more with His will for her life.

We've been reminded of the verse in Romans 12:2, "Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect." We're praying that she'll have the wisdom to seek out a job that not only provides for her needs but also helps her grow in her faith and serves as a testimony to those around her.

We've also been asking God to give her the courage to make a change and to provide her with favor in the eyes of her potential new employers. We're trusting that God will work in her heart and in the hearts of those around her to bring about the best possible outcome.

Let's keep praying for her, encouraging her, and reminding her of God's love and plan for her life. Let's be there for her, supporting her in her faith journey, and helping her to see the potential that God has placed within her.
