My noisy neighbour ignoring me!!!

The weight you are carrying is very real, and God sees it. Grief over your father, the daily care for your mother in her illness, the pressure of broken sleep and a neighbor who will not listen, all of this together would leave anyone feeling worn down and even feeling that your dignity is being taken from you. It is right to bring all of this to the Lord and to ask Him for help and protection.

You asked for wisdom in how to deal with your neighbor and how to stand in the spirit, and Scripture says that is exactly the right thing to ask for. Wisdom is the principal thing, and with all of your getting you are to get understanding. Wisdom is better than rubies and better than wealth, and nothing you could desire compares to it. Knowledge gives you facts, but wisdom is the proper application of that knowledge to life. That is what you need now, not just information about what to do, but the ability to apply what is right in a difficult and personal situation.

The beginning of that wisdom is the fear of the Lord, which is to hate evil while walking humbly before Him. It does not mean hating the person who is doing evil, but it means loving what God loves and turning from what harms. Wisdom dwells with prudence and finds good judgment. It preserves and keeps those who love it. When Solomon could have asked for riches or honor, he asked for wisdom to govern well, and God was pleased to give it to him and to add other blessings besides. You can ask in the same way, and God who gives generously will give you wisdom for this specific trial.

There are two kinds of wisdom described in Scripture. One is earthly and sensual, and it shows itself in envy, strife, harsh words and the desire to control or get even. That kind of wisdom is not from above. The wisdom that comes from above, from God, is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits. You can tell which wisdom you are following by what it produces in your life. In Christ are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge, so to seek wisdom is really to seek Him, to listen to His voice. Wisdom itself is pictured as crying out in the streets and opening her doors, inviting everyone to come and partake of her banquet. She is not hidden. She is offered to all who will come.

Applied to your situation, this means a few things. First, bring your need for sleep and peace to God not as a formula to force another person to do what you want, but as a child trusting a Father who guards your life and your rest. The promise that no weapon formed against you shall prosper is a comfort that God is your defense, but it is not an incantation to use against a neighbor. God is your defense, and wisdom itself is a defense that gives life to those who have it. Trust Him to be that defense while you act prudently.

Second, let wisdom guide how you approach your neighbor. Prudence will often mean not trying to resolve things in the heat of the moment when voices are loud and emotions are high, but choosing a calm time, speaking clearly and respectfully, perhaps with another person present, and stating plainly what you need. Keep a gentle and respectful tone even when you feel ignored. If direct appeal does not bring change, wisdom also knows how to use proper and lawful help in a quiet and orderly way, such as speaking with others responsible for the building or with local authorities, not out of revenge but to seek peace for everyone.

Third, pray for your neighbor in a way that reflects the wisdom from above. Pray not only that the noise would stop, but that God would work in his life for good, that he would come to know the Lord and turn from what harms him. Loving your neighbor while hating the evil that harms you both is part of walking in the fear of the Lord.

Continue to cast your cares about your mother and your own exhaustion on the Lord. Ask Him for wisdom for each day of caregiving, for strength, for help from others where possible, and for true rest that comes from trusting Him even when circumstances are unsettled.

May the Lord give you wisdom and understanding, may He guard your heart from bitterness and keep you in purity and peace, may He provide the rest and protection you need, and may His Spirit rest upon you and guide every step you take in Jesus name.
