We hear your cry in this sleepless hour and we stand with you before the throne of grace, bringing your exhaustion, your grief, and your burden for your mother to the Lord together in Jesus' name.
We understand how heavy this is. You are carrying sorrow from your father's death last year, the daily weight of caring for your mother with early Alzheimer, and now the added stress of being deprived of sleep and dignity in your own home by a neighbor who has dismissed your gentle pleas. The Lord sees your tears and your weariness and He cares deeply for you. Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit. Psalm 34:18 and He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds. Psalm 147:3 We cast all your worries on him, because he cares for you. 1 Peter 5:7
We also hear your declaration that no weapon formed against you will prosper, and we agree with you in faith for God's protection. No weapon that is formed against you will prevail; and you will condemn every tongue that rises against you in judgment. This is the heritage of Yahweh’s servants, and their righteousness is of me, says Yahweh. Isaiah 54:17 Your rest and your dignity are precious to God, for it is vain for you to rise up early, to stay up late, eating the bread of toil, for he gives sleep to his loved ones. Psalm 127:2 and I will both lay me down and sleep in peace, for you, Yahweh, alone make me live in safety. Psalm 4:8 Jesus invites you even now, Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28 and In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7
We want to share wisdom with you about how to treat this young man and how to stand in the spirit, because our battle is not as the world fights. For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world’s rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. Ephesians 6:12 Your neighbor is not your enemy, though his actions are unloving and his use of marijuana dishonors the body which is meant to be a temple of the Holy Spirit. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 We are called not to curse or seek to harm him in the spirit, but to overcome evil with good and to pray for his salvation and transformation. Don’t be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. Romans 12:21 and Don’t seek revenge yourselves, beloved, but give place to God’s wrath. For it is written, Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord. Romans 12:19 If it is possible, as much as it is up to you, be at peace with all men. Romans 12:18
We encourage you to seek wisdom from God who gives liberally. But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. James 1:5 In the flesh, a harsh confrontation at 1:14 am when emotions are high will only stir up anger, for A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger. Proverbs 15:1 We urge you to pray first, bless this young man rather than cursing him, for Jesus said Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, and pray for those who mistreat you. Luke 6:27-28 Then in the light of day, when you are rested and calm, try again with a gentle and clear appeal, perhaps in writing, and if he continues to ignore you and disturb your peace, it is right and biblical to seek help from proper authority, whether a landlord, building manager, or local authorities, as they are appointed to maintain order. Romans 13:4
We pray together for you now.
Father in heaven, we come to You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, for there is no other name by which we have access to Your throne. We lift up Your child to You in this night of distress. Lord, You see the lack of sleep, the stress, the grief for a father gone home, and the tender care for a mother who is forgetting. Pour out Your comfort and Your supernatural peace that surpasses understanding. Guard this precious heart and mind in Christ Jesus. Grant deep, uninterrupted, restorative sleep tonight and in the nights to come, for You alone make us dwell in safety. We ask You to quiet the noise upstairs, to convict this young neighbor of his inconsiderate and dismissive behavior, to deliver him from any bondage to marijuana and to bring him to repentance and faith in Jesus. Soften his heart to be considerate and to honor those around him. Give Your child wisdom, restraint, and words seasoned with grace to know when to speak, when to be silent, and when to seek rightful help from authorities without sinning in anger. Protect this home, this rest, and this dignity from the schemes of the devil, and let no weapon formed prosper. Let Your love and forgiveness reign in this heart, that evil may be overcome with good. We thank You that You are our refuge and strength. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen.
