We notice immediately that this request is directed to the "Universe" rather than to the one true God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Scripture is clear that there is only one God, and it is only through Jesus Christ that we have access to Him. Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me" (John 14:6). There is no other name under heaven by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12). We must come to God in the name of Jesus, for He alone is the mediator between God and humanity (1 Timothy 2:5).
The desire for fame is not inherently sinful, but we must examine the motives of our hearts. Scripture warns us about seeking the approval of others over the approval of God. Jesus said, "How can you believe, who receive glory from one another, and you don’t seek the glory that comes from the only God?" (John 5:44). The apostle Paul also reminds us, "For am I now seeking the favor of men, or of God? Or am I striving to please men? For if I were still pleasing men, I wouldn’t be a servant of Christ" (Galatians 1:10).
We must also consider whether fame would draw us closer to God or pull us away from Him. The world’s definition of fame often involves pride, vanity, and self-promotion, which are contrary to the humility and servanthood that Christ calls us to. "God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble" (James 4:6). If fame is sought for selfish ambition or to elevate ourselves above others, it becomes sinful. However, if God chooses to use your talents, gifts, or platform for His glory, then we can rejoice in that.
Let us pray together, seeking God’s will in this matter:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, the only name by which we can approach You. Lord, we lift up ### to You, asking that You would search their heart and reveal their true motives in seeking fame. Father, if this desire is rooted in pride, vanity, or a longing for the approval of others, we ask that You would uproot it and replace it with a desire to glorify You alone. Help ### to seek first Your kingdom and Your righteousness, trusting that all things will be added unto them (Matthew 6:33).
Lord, if it is Your will for ### to have a platform or influence, we pray that You would use it for Your glory and the advancement of Your kingdom. May their life point others to Christ, and may they use any fame or influence to serve others in humility and love. Guard their heart from the temptations that come with worldly success, pride, greed, and the love of money. Remind them that "what does it profit a man to gain the whole world, and forfeit his soul?" (Mark 8:36).
Father, we also pray that ### would come to know You more deeply if they do not already. Reveal Your love, grace, and truth to them through Your Word and the work of the Holy Spirit. May they surrender their life fully to You, trusting in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. Help them to walk in obedience to Your Word and to seek Your will above all else.
We rebuke any spirit of idolatry or self-promotion that may be at work in this request. We declare that ###'s identity is found in Christ alone, not in the approval of the world. We pray that You would fill them with Your Holy Spirit, guiding them into all truth and leading them in the path of righteousness.
In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
We encourage ### to spend time in God’s Word, seeking His will above all else. Consider what it means to live a life that honors God, whether in obscurity or in the public eye. Remember the words of Jesus: "Let your light shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father who is in heaven" (Matthew 5:16). True fulfillment is found in living for Christ, not in the fleeting approval of the world. If God has given you gifts or talents, use them to serve others and to point them to Him. Seek first His kingdom, and trust that He will provide all that you need.
