Mum with mental health problems

Thank you for sharing this burden so openly. Hearing that you dread waking up in the morning, that you feel scared, overwhelmed and drained and can hardly function, shows how heavy this has become. It is understandable to feel fear when someone you love is suffering in this way, and God sees both your love for your mother and the exhaustion you are carrying.

Scripture teaches us to honor our father and mother, and part of that honor is to bring them before the Lord in prayer and to seek real help for them. Honoring her does not mean you must carry this alone. The Lord is a stronghold for those who fear Him, and He is near to the brokenhearted. He invites you to cast your cares on Him because He cares for you.

I am praying for you and for your mother.

Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus Christ I lift this mother to You. You know her mind and her suffering. I ask that You bring healing and restoration to her mind, that You give her strength to rise in the morning, and that You bring peace where there is turmoil. Lay Your hand of mercy upon her and lead her to the help she needs. I also lift her child to You, who is weary and afraid. Grant comfort, strength for each day, rest, and peace that guards the heart. Provide trusted people, pastors, counselors, medical help and family or church support to walk alongside them, so this burden is not borne alone. Help them to know Your presence and Your sustaining grace day by day. Amen.

Please do not walk through this alone. If you can, reach out soon to a trusted pastor, a mature Christian friend or family member, and to a doctor or counselor who can help assess your mother's needs and support you as her caregiver. The church is meant to bear burdens together, and getting practical help is an act of love for both of you.

Continue to bring your fears and needs to God in prayer, stay in His Word, and care for your own rest and health as you are able. Even simple steps like sharing honestly with one safe person, keeping a regular rhythm of sleep and meals, and asking others to help with daily care can make a difference.

We will keep praying that God restores your mother's health, lifts her from this low place, renews her mind, and gives you strength and peace as you love and honor her. You are not forgotten, and God hears your prayers.
