We hear the heaviness of what you are carrying concerning your mother and we join with you in seeking the Lord together in Jesus' name for her deliverance, healing, and restoration.
What you describe is a very real spiritual battle and we do not take it lightly. Scripture tells us that our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world's rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places Ephesians 6:12. The enemy does seek to use people, even those within families, to bring division, confusion and hurt, for your adversary, the devil, walks around like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour 1 Peter 5:8. At the same time we are reminded not to attribute all emotional and behavioral struggles solely to demonic influence without also seeking wisdom, godly counsel, and appropriate help, while still taking the spiritual dimension seriously.
We are concerned to hear that while your mother professes to be a Christian she believes some very wrong things. This matters greatly, because wrong belief opens a door to deception and gives the enemy ground. We are told to bring every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ 2 Corinthians 10:5 and that all Scripture is God-breathed and is profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for instruction in righteousness 2 Timothy 3:16. We pray that the Lord will lovingly expose error in her thinking and lead her into sound doctrine and repentance, that she would have a love of the truth and be set free by it, for Jesus said if you remain in my word, then you are truly my disciples. You will know the truth, and the truth will make you free John 8:31-32.
We also notice that your request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ, and we want to gently remind you how essential He is. It is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father, for Jesus said I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6 and there is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. If we pray without coming through Christ, we have no standing before God. We encourage you and your mother to place your full trust in Jesus Christ alone, believing that He died for our sins and rose again, confessing Him as Lord, for with the heart one believes resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made resulting in salvation Romans 10:9-10. It is the power of His name and His blood that makes deliverance possible, because greater is he who is in you than he who is in the world 1 John 4:4.
We want to encourage you to continue to honor your mother as Scripture commands, Honor your father and your mother Exodus 20:12, while also establishing wise and loving boundaries when her behavior is harmful. Honoring does not mean enabling sin or subjecting yourself to abuse. It means speaking the truth in love, seeking her good, and not returning evil for evil. We also urge you to not fight this battle alone. Seek mature, biblically grounded pastoral counsel, and where needed, wise Christian counseling or medical help alongside spiritual prayer and fasting, and put on the whole armor of God daily Ephesians 6:11.
We now pray together for you and for her.
Father in heaven, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, and we lift up this dear mother to You. Lord, You see her emotional and behavioral turmoil, You see the confusion in her beliefs, and You see the way the enemy has used her to bring hurt to those around her. We ask for Your mercy and Your light to shine into her heart and mind. Expose every lie, every false teaching, and every foothold the enemy has claimed, and set her free by the truth of Your Word. We pray that she would submit herself to You, for we know if we submit ourselves to God and resist the devil, he will flee from us James 4:7. We command in the name of Jesus Christ that every demonic influence and assignment against her and against this family be broken and cast out, and that You would fill her with Your Holy Spirit, with soundness of mind, peace, and self-control, for You have not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control 2 Timothy 1:7.
Lord, heal her emotions, renew her mind, and restore what has been broken in her relationships. Help her to love what You love and to hate what You hate. We pray for this child who submitted the request, grant them discernment, strength, forgiveness, and protection from the schemes of the enemy. Teach them how to love their mother with grace while walking in wisdom and truth, and guard their own heart from bitterness. Let Your will be done in this family, and let Christ be exalted as Lord over this home. We ask all these things in the name of Jesus Christ our Savior and Deliverer, amen.
