more quality time with Jesus Christ

We rejoice with you in this beautiful desire to spend more and more quality time with our Lord Jesus Christ, and we join with you in bringing this request before our Heavenly Father.

This hunger for His presence is itself a gift from God and it pleases Him greatly when we seek Him with our whole heart. As it is written, You will seek me, and find me, when you search for me with all your heart. Jeremiah 29:13. And again, Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. James 4:8. Our Father longs for fellowship with His children, and He delights when we set apart time to be still before Him, to listen to His voice through His Word, and to commune with Him in prayer.

We are reminded of how Jesus Himself modeled this for us, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a deserted place, and prayed there. Mark 1:35. He also teaches us, But you, when you pray, enter into your inner room, and having shut your door, pray to your Father who is in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly. Matthew 6:6. Quality time with Him is not measured only by minutes, but by a heart that abides in Him. As Jesus said, Remain in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself unless it remains in the vine, so neither can you, unless you remain in me. John 15:4.

We pray together for you now.

Heavenly Father, we come before Your throne of grace in the precious Name of Jesus Christ, and we thank You for placing this holy desire in our dear one's heart to be closer to You. Father, we ask that You help them to spend more and more quality time with You each day. Draw them by Your Holy Spirit into the secret place, give them discipline and delight to open Your Word, to pray, to worship, and to simply be still and know that You are God. Psalm 46:10. Remove distractions and weariness, and guard this time from the enemy. Let Your Word be a lamp to their feet, and a light for their path. Psalm 119:105. Fill them with Your peace and joy as they abide in Christ, and let their life bear much fruit for Your glory. Teach them to seek first Your Kingdom and Your righteousness, trusting that all else will be added. Matthew 6:33. We ask all this in the mighty and saving Name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.

We encourage you to continue to set a consistent time and place each day to meet with Him, even if you begin with a short time, and let it grow as the Lord leads. Come with an open Bible, a humble heart to pray, and a willingness to listen in silence. He is faithful to meet you there, and He will richly reward your seeking.

We are grateful for the hunger in your request to spend more quality time with Jesus. That desire itself matters to God, and we are glad to stand with you as you seek Him.

What we have seen help many people is to keep it simple and steady rather than pressured. Instead of trying to create a long stretch you cannot sustain, choose a small, protected window you can keep most days, even ten or fifteen minutes, in the same place and at the same time if you can. Leave your phone aside, open your Bible where you are reading, talk honestly with the Lord about what you read and what is on your heart, and then sit quietly and listen. When the time is short but regular, it often grows naturally because you begin to look forward to it.

We are praying the Father makes that time sweet and unhurried for you.

Father, thank You for the hunger You have placed in our friend for more of You. Help them to find quiet moments with Jesus each day and to know Your nearness there. Keep their heart soft to Your voice and steady their steps as they seek You. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.

There is a gracious work of the Holy Spirit in this longing, for truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with His Son, Jesus Christ. To desire more quality time with Him is to desire that which is the very essence of the Christian life, not a mechanical religion of outward hearing, but an inward touching of the blessed Person of Christ, a mysterious contact where life and love flow from Him to you.

You do well to ask the Heavenly Father for this, for we are called into the society of Jesus Christ our Lord and we enjoy that society when we draw near to God in prayer. There is a communion of faith and there is a communion of conversation, for in prayer what do you do but talk with God, and if you pray with faith, what does Christ do but talk with you. Prayer talks with God, yes it walks with Him, and he who is much in prayer will hold very much fellowship with Jesus Christ.

Consider how the Master Himself taught us to put prayer first of all. He rose up early and went alone in the dark to pray, and all nature was akin to Him as He spoke with the Father face to face. His prayers were a free, outspoken talk with the Most High, His heart open to the Lord. Follow Him there. Seek a quiet chamber, a desert place if you can find it, before the clatter of the day begins. A sitting silently at the feet of Jesus is of more worth than all the clatter of Martha's dishes, and it will teach you a reverence which words cannot express.

Hear His gracious invitation still, Come and break your fast. Many a battle has been lost because the soldiers were not in good condition for the fight, and you need stamina if you are to do hard and long work for Jesus and His truth. Do not be weary with a night of fruitless toil while Jesus is away. Should a choice morsel come your way in the Word, partake of it with a believing confidence, and let your dependence be connected with the very personality of your faith, as you have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him.

Let us pray together for you.

Heavenly Father, we thank You that You have put this holy hunger in this heart to know more of Your Son. Grant, we pray, a deeper and more constant fellowship with the Lord Jesus Christ. Help Your child to spend more and more quality time with You, not from duty alone but from love, drawing near in the Word and in prayer, in stillness and in conversation with Christ. Keep this one from mere outward form and bring them into real contact with Jesus Himself, that receiving Him daily as both Saviour and Anointed One, they may be delivered from the guilt and power of sin and live by union with Him. Order their days that prayer may be first, and give grace to come and break their fast with Jesus and to walk with Him through all the hours. We ask this in the precious Name of Jesus Christ our Lord, who is the same yesterday and today and forever. Amen.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your desire to spend more and more quality time with Jesus Christ is itself a good gift from God, and it is a prayer He delights to answer. The Father draws us to His Son, and when the heart hungers for Christ, He will surely feed it.

To spend quality time with Him is not only a matter of minutes on a clock, but of turning the heart toward Him with love and attention. Set apart a quiet place and a regular time each day, even if it begins small, and guard it faithfully. There meet Him in prayer, not only asking but also thanking Him as our Lord did, and in reading His Word with care. As you read the Scriptures, call upon the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, for there you hear His voice. As you pray, speak honestly and listen quietly. A house is made beautiful for Christ not by outward show but by prayer, by supplication, by watchfulness and by love shown to others.

Let us pray together for you.

Heavenly Father, we thank You for this hunger for Your Son. In the name of Jesus Christ, we ask You to help our brother and sister to draw near to You more and more. Give a deep love for Your Word, a steady habit of prayer, and a quiet heart that waits on You. Remove distractions and weariness, and teach how to abide in Christ day by day. Let time with Jesus be not hurried or empty, but full of grace, truth and peace. Keep this desire alive and cause it to grow, that in knowing Christ more, there may be greater joy, strength and likeness to Him. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
