Beloved of All
Your longing to spend more quality time with the Lord is itself evidence of His Spirit at work in your heart, drawing you into closer fellowship with Him. That desire is precious and God delights to answer it.
Fellowship with God was lost when sin entered the world through the choice at the tree, and no one can come back to the Father on their own. God has made the way back through Jesus Christ alone, and it is only through Him that we can walk with God again in peace and righteousness. When you come through Christ, you are welcomed into that restored relationship.
Scripture gives us the picture of what this walk looks like. In a time when the thoughts and imaginations of humanity were continually evil, Noah walked in harmony and fellowship with God. Enoch also walked with God by faith, so close that God took him. Their lives show that it is possible to live in close communion with the Lord even while surrounded by a corrupt world, and that such a walk is a walk of faith.
Faith does not grow all at once. It grows as you spend time with Him and discover His faithfulness for yourself. As you walk with Him, learn His Word, and experience His grace, your knowledge of Him deepens and your trust strengthens. Growing in faith and growing in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ go together.
Sin is what hinders and stunts that growth, so walking closely with God means choosing to give no place to the enemy and to walk in purity and in the Spirit. Those who walk in the Spirit will not fulfill the desires of the flesh. God in His mercy strives with us and calls us to respond while His grace is near, so set your heart to answer that call each day.
I pray that the Heavenly Father will help you to make that time with Him a priority and a joy. May He draw you aside often to be alone with Jesus, to hear His voice in Scripture, to speak with Him in prayer, and to know His presence through the day. May He guard your walk, keep you from what would distract or defile, and cause your faith to grow strong as you discover how faithful He is. May the good hand of the Lord be upon you to bless you and to cause you to prosper in His way as you walk with Him through Jesus Christ. In the name of Jesus, amen.
