more quality time with Jesus Christ

We rejoice with you in this beautiful desire to spend more and more quality time with our Lord Jesus Christ, for this is the very heart of our faith and the greatest source of joy and strength.

We hear your longing to draw closer to Him and we join with you in asking our Heavenly Father to deepen your fellowship with Him. The Scripture tells us, Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. James 4:8. Your hunger for Him is itself evidence of His Spirit drawing you, for He first loved us and calls us to seek His face. As it is written, When you said, Seek my face, my heart said to you, I will seek your face, Yahweh. Psalm 27:8.

We pray that the Lord will help you to make this time with Him your first priority and your greatest delight. Jesus Himself modeled this for us, for we read that very early in the morning, while it was still dark, he rose up and went out, and departed into a deserted place, and prayed there. Mark 1:35. If our Savior needed that quiet time with the Father, how much more do we.

We pray together for you now.

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ and we thank You for the hunger You have placed in this dear one's heart to know You more. We ask that You help them to spend more and more quality time with You, to abide in Christ daily. Teach them to be still and know that You are God, Psalm 46:10, to set apart time each day away from distraction to meet with You in prayer and in Your Word. Help them to seek first Your Kingdom and Your righteousness, Matthew 6:33, trusting that as they do, You will draw near and speak to their heart. Let their time with You be not out of duty alone but out of love, that they may grow in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord. Fill them with Your peace as they wait upon You and renew their strength, Isaiah 40:31. We ask this in the mighty and precious name of Jesus Christ, amen.

We encourage you to continue to guard this time diligently. Choose a consistent time and place where you can be alone with Him, bring your Bible and come with an open heart to read, to pray, and to simply listen. He promises, You will seek me and find me, when you search for me with all your heart. Jeremiah 29:13. As you abide in Him, remain in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself unless it remains in the vine, so neither can you, unless you remain in me. John 15:4. Let His Word dwell richly in you and let prayer be a continual conversation throughout your day, for He desires fellowship with you always.

We're so encouraged by your desire to spend more quality time with the Lord. That hunger to be with Him is a good and beautiful thing, and we join you in asking the Father to deepen it.

We have found it helps to think of this as training rather than just trying. Like preparing for a long distance run, growth comes not from one big effort but from small, regular steps over time. That perspective takes pressure off and lets us see ourselves as works in progress, where even brief, faithful time with Jesus adds up and shapes us.

A simple next step that often helps is to choose a small, sustainable rhythm for the next few weeks. You might set aside ten or fifteen minutes at the same time each day, in the same quiet place if you can, to pray and read Scripture without trying to add everything at once. When the time and place become routine, it actually frees you to be more present with the Lord rather than making it dull, and it reminds us this kind of life with God is for every believer, not only for a few.

Father, we lift our friend to You and ask that You make Your presence known in these quiet moments, that You give a steady desire and protected time to meet with You, and that You gently form a deeper walk with Jesus day by day. We ask this in Jesus' name, amen.

Your desire to spend more and more quality time with Jesus Christ is a gracious sign that the Holy Spirit is at work within you, for none of us would long for fellowship with Him unless He had first sought us and said, Follow Me. It is a holy hunger, and I pray the Lord will deepen it until nothing but Jesus Himself can satisfy you.

Our Lord Jesus is thoughtful of His people and still says to His weary disciples, Come and break your fast. He spreads the table and invites you to sit and feast upon Himself in the Word and in prayer. Do not be content with a mechanical religion that comes near to Christ yet never truly touches Him. There is a real contact with Jesus, an inward touching of His person by faith, from which life and peace flow. Bring to Him your everyday burdens and your hard questions also, for He delights to be consulted. The harder the question, the better to prove His wisdom and love. Remember those first disciples who came and saw where He dwelt and abode with Him that day. The best part of that day was the portion they spent with Jesus, and having once lived with Him they learned never to live without Him. So seek to abide with Him, not in haste, but in still and believing communion. Give Him the morning before the world claims you, and steal away to Him again when the business of the day is over, for you will find that time with Jesus only makes you stronger for all the toil and service that remains.

Let us pray together. Heavenly Father, we thank Thee for planting this thirst for Thyself in this heart. Draw Thy child nearer to Jesus Christ Thy Son. Grant grace to spend more quality time with Him, to sit at His feet and hear His word, to touch Him by living faith and to know His presence by Thy Spirit. Give both time and a greater love for that time, and guard it from all that would intrude or steal it away. Make this fellowship sincere and deep and daily, that out of fullness of communion there may come fullness of life, holiness and strength for Thy service. Hear this prayer and answer it for the glory of Thy Name, in the Name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
