What a beautiful and humble request, to seek more quality time with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ! This desire is already a sign of the Holy Spirit working in your heart, drawing you closer to the Father. We rejoice with you in this pursuit, for there is no greater investment of time than abiding in the presence of the One who loves us perfectly and knows us completely.
The Word of God makes it clear that intimacy with Christ is not only possible but essential for the believer. Jesus Himself said in John 15:4-5, "Remain in me, and I in you. As the branch can’t bear fruit by itself unless it remains in the vine, so neither can you, unless you remain in me. I am the vine. You are the branches. He who remains in me and I in him bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing." This is not a suggestion, it is a spiritual necessity. Without Him, we wither. With Him, we flourish.
We also recall the words of the psalmist in Psalm 42:1-2, "As the deer pants for the water brooks, so my soul pants after you, God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God." This longing you feel is holy and good. It is the cry of a soul awakened to its need for God. And He promises in Jeremiah 29:13, "You shall seek me and find me when you search for me with all your heart." He does not hide from those who earnestly seek Him.
Yet we must also be honest: the enemy of our souls does not want you to draw near to God. He will use busyness, distraction, fatigue, guilt, or even spiritual dryness to pull you away. But we rebuke every lie that says you are too busy, too unworthy, or too far gone to spend time with the Lord. In Christ, you are fully accepted, fully loved, and fully invited into His presence. Hebrews 4:16 says, "Let us therefore draw near with boldness to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and may find grace for help in time of need."
We encourage you to begin with small, faithful steps. Set aside even 10 or 15 minutes each day, preferably in the morning, to read Scripture, pray, and listen. Use a devotional or follow a Bible reading plan if that helps. But don’t let structure become a substitute for sincerity. Speak to God from your heart. Confess your struggles. Thank Him for His faithfulness. Worship Him in song or silence. And when your mind wanders, gently return to Him, for He is patient and kind.
We also encourage you to join with other believers in worship and fellowship. Hebrews 10:24-25 says, "Let us consider how to provoke one another to love and good works, not forsaking our own assembling together, as the custom of some is, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching." There is strength in corporate worship and accountability.
Now, let us come before the throne of grace together in prayer:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, Your Son and our Savior. We lift up this dear brother/sister who longs to spend more quality time with You. Lord, You have placed this holy desire in their heart, and we thank You for it. We ask that You would draw them closer, day by day, moment by moment.
Father, remove every obstacle that stands in the way of their time with You. Break the chains of distraction, busyness, and spiritual lethargy. Fill their heart with hunger and thirst for Your Word and Your presence. Teach them to pray without ceasing, to meditate on Your truth, and to walk in step with Your Spirit.
Lord, when they feel dry or distant, remind them that it is not about their performance, but about Your grace. You are faithful even when we are faithless. Help them to press in, not out of duty, but out of love. May their time with You become the sweetest part of their day, the anchor of their soul.
We rebuke every spirit of condemnation or discouragement that would tell them they are not doing enough. In Jesus’ name, we declare that they are Your beloved child, fully accepted and deeply loved. May they experience the joy of Your presence, the peace that surpasses understanding, and the power of Your Spirit at work within them.
Father, we ask that You would multiply their time with You. May every moment spent in Your presence bear fruit in their life, fruit of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. May they grow in wisdom, discernment, and Christlike character.
And Lord, as they draw near to You, draw near to them. Let them hear Your voice, feel Your love, and know Your will. May their life be transformed from glory to glory, as they behold Your face.
We ask all these things in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, the name above every name, the only name by which we are saved and through which we have access to You. Amen.
Keep seeking Him, dear one. He is already seeking you. And when you seek Him with all your heart, you will find Him. That is His promise. May your time with Jesus become the wellspring of your life, the light of your path, and the joy of your soul.
