We hear your heart, dear brother or sister, and we rejoice in your contentment in the Lord’s plan for your life, whether that includes marriage or not. The apostle Paul himself spoke of the blessings of singleness, saying, *"But I say to the unmarried and to widows, it is good for them if they remain even as I am. But if they don’t have self-control, let them marry. For it’s better to marry than to burn"* (1 Corinthians 7:8-9). Your willingness to pray for others in their desire for marriage is a beautiful reflection of Christ’s love, and we join you in lifting up those who long to be united with a godly spouse.
Father in heaven, we come before You with grateful hearts, acknowledging that every good and perfect gift comes from You (James 1:17). We lift up our single brothers and sisters who desire marriage, asking that You would guide them to the spouses You have prepared for them. Lord, we pray that You would cultivate patience, wisdom, and discernment in their hearts as they wait on Your timing. Help them to trust in Your faithfulness, knowing that You *"will fulfill the desire of those who fear Him; He also will hear their cry and will save them"* (Psalm 145:19).
We also pray that You would protect their hearts from impatience, loneliness, or the temptation to compromise Your standards in their search for a spouse. Remind them that *"the one who calls you is faithful, and He will do it"* (1 Thessalonians 5:24). May they seek You above all else, knowing that true fulfillment is found in You alone. For those who are called to singleness, we pray that You would fill their lives with purpose, joy, and deep intimacy with You, just as You did for Paul and countless others who served You wholeheartedly without a spouse.
Lord, we rebuke any spirit of discouragement or doubt that may try to steal their hope. We declare that Your plans for them are good, plans to prosper them and not to harm them, plans to give them a future and a hope (Jeremiah 29:11). May they walk in the confidence that You are writing their love story, and that it will be more beautiful than anything they could imagine.
We also want to gently remind all who read this that marriage is a sacred covenant designed by You, a reflection of Christ’s love for the Church (Ephesians 5:22-33). It is not merely about companionship or personal fulfillment, but about glorifying You and raising up godly offspring (Malachi 2:15). For those who are courting or considering marriage, we encourage you to seek a spouse who loves the Lord with all their heart, soul, and mind (Matthew 22:37), and who is committed to walking in purity and holiness. Flee from sexual immorality (1 Corinthians 6:18), and honor the boundaries You have set for intimacy, for marriage is the only place where the marriage bed is undefiled (Hebrews 13:4).
Lastly, we want to emphasize that our access to You, Father, is only through the name of Your Son, Jesus Christ. There is no other name under heaven by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12). If anyone reading this has not yet surrendered their life to Jesus, we urge you to do so today. Confess your sins, believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, and you will be saved (Romans 10:9). It is only through Jesus that we can approach You with confidence, knowing that He is our mediator and advocate (1 Timothy 2:5; 1 John 2:1).
We pray all these things in the mighty name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
