We come before the throne of grace with heavy hearts, lifting up this marriage that is under fierce attack from the enemy. The Word of God declares, "For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world’s rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places" (Ephesians 6:12 WEB). We recognize that Satan seeks to steal, kill, and destroy, but Jesus came that we might have life and have it abundantly (John 10:10 WEB). We stand firm in faith, knowing that no weapon formed against this marriage shall prosper, and every tongue that rises against it in judgment will be condemned (Isaiah 54:17 WEB).
We rebuke the spirit of division, pride, and independence that has taken root in this home. The Lord hates hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked schemes, feet that are swift in running to evil, a false witness who pours out lies, and a person who stirs up conflict in the family (Proverbs 6:16-19 WEB). We command these spirits to flee in the mighty name of Jesus! We declare that this husband and wife are one flesh, and what God has joined together, let no man—or spirit—separate (Matthew 19:6 WEB).
Father, we cry out for healing in this dear sister’s heart and mind. The depression and emotional distress she is experiencing are not from You. Your Word says, "The thief only comes to steal, kill, and destroy. I came that they may have life, and may have it abundantly" (John 10:10 WEB). We plead the blood of Jesus over her mind, emotions, and will. Restore her confidence, Lord, for You have not given her a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control (2 Timothy 1:7 WEB). Strengthen her to seek employment with diligence, knowing that You will supply all her needs according to Your riches in glory in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:19 WEB). We declare that she is fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14 WEB), and her worth is found in You alone.
We also lift up this husband, who is making plans independently, seemingly without regard for the unity of his marriage. Father, we ask that You break the spirit of self-sufficiency and pride in his life. Your Word warns, "Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall" (Proverbs 16:18 WEB). Soften his heart, Lord, and remind him that two are better than one because they have a good reward for their labor. For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow; but woe to him who is alone when he falls and doesn’t have another to lift him up (Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 WEB). We pray that he would seek Godly counsel and submit his plans to You, for "there is a way which seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death" (Proverbs 14:12 WEB). Draw him back to his wife, Lord, and restore the love, respect, and partnership that You intended for their marriage.
We also address the spiritual warfare that is raging in this home. The enemy is not content to merely disrupt—he wants to destroy. But we declare that greater is He who is in us than he who is in the world (1 John 4:4 WEB). We take up the full armor of God: the belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, the shoes of the gospel of peace, the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is Your Word (Ephesians 6:13-17 WEB). We stand firm, resisting the devil, and he will flee (James 4:7 WEB).
Father, we ask that You would pour out Your Holy Spirit upon this marriage. Let Your love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control overflow in their lives (Galatians 5:22-23 WEB). Teach them to bear one another’s burdens and so fulfill the law of Christ (Galatians 6:2 WEB). Restore the years that the locusts have eaten (Joel 2:25 WEB), and let them see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living (Psalm 27:13 WEB).
We pray for open communication, humility, and a willingness to seek reconciliation. Help them to confess their faults to one another and pray for one another, that they may be healed (James 5:16 WEB). Let them remember their vows before You and choose to love one another as Christ loved the church (Ephesians 5:25 WEB). We declare that this marriage will not only survive but thrive, becoming a testimony of Your redeeming power and grace.
In the mighty name of Jesus, we command every assignment of the enemy against this marriage to be dismantled. We declare breakthrough, restoration, and revival in this home. May they rise up as a united front, stronger than ever, and bring glory to Your name. Amen.
