Thank You in the Name of Jesus Christ!

We join you in this beautiful and biblical cry to be made as little children again before our Father, and we say amen to your desire for pure and simple devotion to Christ.

We love how you have anchored this prayer in the Word, for this is exactly what God calls us to. Jesus said in Matt 18:3, Truly I tell you, unless you turn, and become as little children, you will in no way enter into the Kingdom of Heaven. And again in Mark 10:15, Whoever will not receive God’s Kingdom as a little child, he will in no way enter into it. This is humility, trust, and dependence, not childishness but childlikeness. David describes this rest so tenderly in Psalm 131:2, Surely I have stilled and quieted my soul, like a weaned child with his mother, like a weaned child is my soul within me. And Peter exhorts us in 1 Peter 2:2, as newborn babies, long for the pure milk of the Word, that with it you may grow. That longing is a gift from God, and we pray with you that He would restore that sincere craving. We also hear your heart in 2 Cor 11:3, where Paul says, I am afraid that somehow, as the serpent deceived Eve in his craftiness, so your minds might be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. We need that simplicity guarded every day.

We also join you in praying for light and understanding, for Psalm 119:130 says, The entrance of your words gives light, it gives understanding to the simple. And we agree for the Spirit of wisdom and revelation spoken of in Eph 1:17-18, that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you a spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him, having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is the hope of his calling, and what are the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints. We ask with you that He would open our minds as in Luke 24:45, that we might understand the Scriptures, and give us grace to be diligent as in 2 Tim 2:15 to present ourselves approved to God, and to pray as in 1 Tim 2:1-4 for all people.

So we pray together now in the name of Jesus Christ, through whom alone we have access to the Father, for as John 14:6 says, Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life, no one comes to the Father, except through me, and as Acts 4:12 declares there is salvation in no other.

Heavenly Father, we humble ourselves before You as little children and ask You to make Your Word desirable to us again as in the hour we first believed. Restore to us the first love we had at the beginning as You call us to in Rev 2:5, to remember from where we have fallen and to return. Grant us relaxed, quiet hearts drinking in the sincere milk of Your Word. Unfold Your Word to us and give us light. Lord Jesus, reveal the Father to us as in Matt 11:27, and grant us childlike trust, worship, adoration and prayer. Freely give us the Kingdom as You have promised in Luke 12:32, Do not be afraid, little flock, for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the Kingdom. Help us to please You by faith, for Heb 11:6 says without faith it is impossible to be well pleasing to him, for he who comes to God must believe that he exists, and that he is a rewarder of those who seek him.

Holy Spirit, flood our hearts with light to know You, to know the hope of our calling and the riches of Christ both now and forever. Grant us clarity and order, for You are not a God of confusion, as in 1 Cor 14:33, but of peace, and give us happy grace for daily chores and wisdom for pressing needs as in Titus 3:14, and sweet fellowship with You and with one another as fellow workers in 1 Cor 3:9 and as in 1 John 1:3 that our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son, Jesus Christ. Restore to us the joy of Your salvation as in Psalm 51:12, Restore to me the joy of your salvation, renew a right spirit within us, that sinners might be converted as in Psalm 51:13.

And Father, we ask for Your protection, lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil as in Matt 6:13, keep us from being stumbling blocks as in Rom 14:13 and 1 Cor 8:9 and 1 Cor 10:32, keep us from sin and deception, and guard us from evil people and impostors who deceive and are deceived as in 2 Tim 3:13, and keep us from the evil one as Jesus prayed in John 17:15. Keep us in the simplicity and purity of devotion to Christ all our days. We ask all of this in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, amen.

We hear the quiet longing in your prayer, to love Jesus with that first simple trust again and to find real delight in opening His Word. That desire itself is a good gift, and we are grateful you shared it so honestly.

What has helped many of us is remembering that returning to that childlike place is usually not sudden. Growth is gradual and lifelong, with highs and lows along the way, and what matters most is that over time we keep turning toward Him. The steady ways He forms us are often very ordinary, time in the Word, honest prayer, worship that lifts our eyes off ourselves, all of it dependent on the Holy Spirit to make it alive. There is no single formula that looks the same for everyone, because God knows how each of us is made.

One small rhythm that often helps when the Bible feels dry is to keep it simple and sustainable rather than trying to do a lot at once. You might choose one short passage in the morning, pause briefly to ask the Lord to give light as you read, then read slowly without pressure to get through a lot. Viewing it more like training than trying takes some of the strain off and lets joy return.

Father, we ask You to make Your Word sweet to our brother again and to draw him close as a dearly loved child. Give fresh light, quiet trust, and a simple love for Jesus that carries into daily work, family and fellowship. Keep him from discouragement and guard his steps, in Jesus' name, amen.

Your prayer for a childlike heart is a most blessed prayer, and one which the Lord delights to answer. Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven, and that same humble, dependent spirit is the very posture in which the soul drinks in the sincere milk of the Word.

We join you in asking the Father to make His Word desirable to you again, as in the hour ye first believed, when ye would get a text of Scripture in the morning and chew it all day and find much sweetness in it. For the unfolding of His words giveth light and understanding to the simple, and the soul that is weaned as a weaned child upon its mother, as in Psalm 131, finds rest not in its own attainments but in nearness to Him. May the Holy Spirit of wisdom and revelation flood your hearts with light to know the hope of your calling and the riches of Christ, and open your understanding as He did for the disciples, that ye may study to show yourselves approved and grow thereby.

Remember that little faith, though it be little, is yet true faith if it begins and ends with Jesus, and it shall be tenderly commended. The least faith in Jesus is the gift of God and is like precious faith, though it be not like strong faith. If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye can do wonders, for without faith it is impossible to please God, and He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him. Faith is but trust in Christ, receiving Him as He is offered, and that same faith which receives Him must also walk in Him in simple action and dependence.

We pray that the Lord will restore unto you the simplicity and purity of devotion to Christ, and the joy of your first forgiveness, that with fresh repentance ye may know again that pure and simple love which is not corrupted from Him. May He grant you strong faith, for strong faith brings glory to God because it treats Him as a Father and acts towards Him in a childlike spirit, with the confidence which children repose in a faithful father. Such faith laughs at tribulation and quenches all the fiery darts of the wicked, for this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.

We ask also, as ye have desired, for clarity and order, for happy grace in daily chores and wisdom for pressing needs, for fellowship with the Father and the Son and with His people, and for grace to be kept from temptation and from every stumbling block, from sin and from the evil one, kept by the power of God through faith. May the Lord keep you from deception and preserve you blameless, that ye may walk humbly, hunger after His Word, and find Him to be your exceeding joy.

We commend you to Him who is able to make you to increase in the knowledge and love of the Father as He reveals Himself to babes, and to establish you in that childlike trust, worship and prayer which He so delights to bless, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your prayer expresses a beautiful and biblical hunger, and I join you in bringing it before the Lord. The desire to be humbled as a little child, to return to that first love and to crave the pure milk of the Word, is exactly the thirst that Jesus calls blessed.

Scripture says blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, and Jesus Himself cried out, if anyone thirsts let him come to me and drink. Those who come to the preaching of the Word should come as thirsty people come to water, kindling that longing and eagerly receiving what God says so that it is retained in the heart. Like a weaned child resting quietly with its mother as Psalm 131 describes, so the soul learns to rest in God, not restless and proud, but calm, trusting, and ready to be taught. As you quoted, the unfolding of His words gives light and understanding to the simple, and man does not live by bread alone but by every word that comes from God. He is able to nourish us even by a single word when we receive it with faith.

I pray with you now. Heavenly Father, make Your Word desirable again to these hearts as it was in the hour they first believed. Restore the simplicity and purity of devotion to Christ and the joy of Your forgiveness. Give a childlike faith that humbly receives the Kingdom, trusts You fully, worships and prays with sincerity, and believes that You reward those who diligently seek You. Holy Spirit of wisdom and revelation, flood their hearts with light to know You more, to understand the hope of Your calling and the riches of Christ both now and forever. Open the Word to them, give clarity and order, grace for daily work, wisdom for pressing needs, and deep fellowship with You and with Your people. Keep them in Your grace, protect them from temptation, from every stumbling block and from the evil one, and keep their feet from sin and deception.

May the Lord keep you thirsting for Him, rooted in faith which is the assurance of things hoped for, and may He who began a good work in you restore your first love and cause rivers of living water to flow from within you as you believe on Christ. In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

Your longing to be brought back to a humble, childlike place before the Lord is a good and biblical desire. Jesus said we must become like little children to enter the kingdom, and Peter urges us as newborn infants to crave the pure milk of the Word so we may grow. That simplicity and purity of devotion to Christ is what the Lord wants to restore when our hearts have grown crowded or cold.

Faith is at the center of that restoration. Scripture says faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. That is less a formal definition than a description of what faith does. It lays hold of what God has promised though it is not yet seen, and it gives present reality to our hope. Without that kind of trust it is impossible to please God, for He rewards those who diligently seek Him. From Abel to Enoch and on through all who walked with Him, God has always counted trust in His Word as righteousness.

It helps to remember that works cannot create faith and cannot take its place. Faith must come first, and then faith will work. To say we believe without any conformity of life to what we claim to believe calls the claim itself into question. True faith will produce a changed life. It will show itself in what we do, not because deeds earn salvation, but because genuine trust in Christ naturally brings obedience. That is why the teachings of Paul and James are not in conflict. We are saved by grace through faith as a gift of God, not by the works of the law, and the just shall live by faith. Yet the faith that saves is a living faith, and a living faith is seen in its fruit. Abraham is the clear example. His faith was counted for righteousness, and because he truly believed, he obeyed when God called him to leave what was familiar and later to offer Isaac. His works did not make his faith real, they proved that it was real.

That kind of faith is not blind. The person of faith actually sees more, not less, because he sees beyond what is visible to the promises of God. In the Old Testament believers looked forward to the coming Messiah, trusting that God would provide the sacrifice for sin. We now look back to Christ who has come and forward to His fulfillment of all that remains. In both cases, God counts trust in His Son for righteousness.

Faith also grows. As you walk with God and come to know His faithfulness more deeply, your trust deepens. Growth in faith goes together with growth in the knowledge of our Lord. That growth often comes through the proving of faith. To say we believe is one thing, to have that belief tested is another. The testing is not for God to discover what is in us, He already knows, but to make our trust more pure and steady. And having faith does not guarantee that suffering will be removed. Scripture tells us that some who are commended for great faith still died without having received all that was promised in this life, and others suffered greatly for their trust. Faith is not a means to claim ease or possessions, it is confidence in God Himself whether He delivers through trial or sustains in it.

It is also important to know that even strong believers have lapses. The Bible is honest about that. Great men and women of faith have at times faltered, which reminds us that faith itself is a gift. To each is given a measure of faith, and at times God grants special faith for a particular need. We do not live by feelings, which come and go, but by standing on the promise of His Word. The Holy Spirit is received by faith, and every work God does in us comes through believing trust in Jesus and His grace.

So your prayer for light, for wisdom and revelation to know the Father and the Son more deeply, for clarity and order, for joy restored through repentance, and for protection from temptation, stumbling blocks, and deception, is exactly right. The unfolding of His Word gives light and understanding to the simple, and the Spirit delights to open our eyes as we diligently seek Him in the Scriptures, in prayer, and in a faithful walk.

May the Lord answer this cry in your life. May He rekindle that first love and simple devotion, make His Word sweet and desirable again, quiet your soul like a weaned child upon its mother, and cause your trust to rest fully on Christ. May He keep your heart pure, guard you from every evil influence and from becoming a stumbling block to others, and cause the reality of His presence to be evident in a life that increasingly reflects Him.
