Lust and Pain

Disciple of Prayer
Hello, I am in such a hard spot. I broke up with my boyfriend because I felt like he wasn’t mature enough among other things, but after a while, we came back together as we had both been going through really hard spots. We continued a non-committed relationship and have been very physical. Today I almost lost my virginity and don’t know for sure if I did or didn’t, but I’m in such shame and pain. I can’t separate my pain from conviction and don’t know how to feel the Lord’s anointing; I just feel pain.

We hear your cry, dear sister in Christ, and we lift you up before the throne of grace with heavy hearts. The pain and shame you feel are not from the Lord—they are the natural consequence of stepping outside His perfect design for intimacy, which is reserved solely for the covenant of marriage between a man and a woman. The World English Bible makes this clear: *"Marriage is honorable among all, and the bed undefiled; but God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers"* (Hebrews 13:4). What you describe as a "non-committed relationship" is not a relationship at all in God’s eyes—it is a path leading to heartache, confusion, and separation from His peace.

The physical intimacy you’ve engaged in is not love; it is lust, and it has left you feeling empty and ashamed. Scripture warns, *"Flee sexual immorality! ‘Every sin that a man does is outside the body,’ but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body"* (1 Corinthians 6:18). The enemy would have you believe this pain is your identity, but we declare over you that your true identity is in Christ alone. You are not defined by your mistakes, but by the blood of Jesus that washes you clean when you repent and turn away from sin.

First, we must address the reality of what has happened. If there is any possibility that you have lost your virginity, you must seek godly counsel—perhaps from a trusted pastor or mature Christian woman—to process this with wisdom and clarity. But more importantly, you must repent before the Lord. True repentance is not just feeling sorry; it is turning away from the sin and walking in obedience. *"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness"* (1 John 1:9). The Lord is not waiting to condemn you—He is waiting to embrace you with open arms when you come to Him in humility.

This relationship must end. It is not leading you toward holiness or godly marriage; it is leading you into further bondage. You cannot serve two masters—you cannot pursue Christ wholeheartedly while entangled in a relationship that dishonors Him. *"Can two walk together, unless they are agreed?"* (Amos 3:3). The man you are with has shown immaturity and a lack of commitment to God’s standards, and you cannot expect him to change if he is not surrendered to Christ. You must walk away, not out of bitterness, but out of obedience to the Lord.

We also must speak plainly about the name of Jesus. Salvation is found in no one else, for *"there is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved"* (Acts 4:12). If you have not fully surrendered your life to Jesus as your Lord and Savior, now is the time. Confess your sins, believe in His death and resurrection for your forgiveness, and commit to following Him with your whole heart. If you have already done this, then you must renew your commitment to live in a way that honors Him, even when it is hard.

Let us pray for you now:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with broken hearts for our sister who is drowning in shame and pain. Lord, we ask that You would break the chains of lust and sin that have entangled her. Wash her clean by the blood of Jesus and fill her with Your Holy Spirit, that she may walk in purity and holiness. Father, we rebuke the spirit of condemnation that seeks to keep her in bondage, and we declare that there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus (Romans 8:1). Give her the strength to walk away from this relationship that is not of You, and surround her with godly women who will speak truth and life into her. Heal her heart, Lord, and restore to her the joy of Your salvation. We ask that You would draw her closer to You than ever before, that she may know Your love and Your peace that surpasses all understanding. In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.

Sister, you are not alone. The Lord sees your pain, and He is calling you to a higher standard. You were made for so much more than this. Seek Him with your whole heart, and He will lead you into the abundant life He has planned for you. Surround yourself with believers who will hold you accountable and encourage you in your walk with Christ. The road ahead may feel lonely, but the Lord will never leave you nor forsake you (Deuteronomy 31:6). You are loved, you are forgiven, and you are called to walk in freedom.

Dear friend, we're here with you in this moment, feeling your pain and shame. We know it's hard, but remember, God is near. He's not judging you, He's waiting with open arms, ready to embrace you just as you are.

We want to remind you of something beautiful - you are loved. Not just by us, but by God Himself. He loves you so much that He sent His Son, Jesus, to die on the cross for your sins. That means, no matter what you've done, you are forgiven. You don't have to live in shame or pain. You can find freedom in Jesus.

We understand that the relationship you're in isn't honoring to God. It's okay to feel confused or scared about leaving, but remember, you deserve to be in a relationship that reflects God's love and standards. It's not easy, but with God's strength, you can walk away.

Let's pray together:

"Dear Lord, we come to You today on behalf of our ###. Lord, we ask that You would comfort her in her pain and heal her heart. Help her to see her worth in Your eyes and to find her identity in You. Give her the courage to walk away from this relationship and into a future that honors You. Surround her with godly women who will speak truth and life into her. Fill her with Your Holy Spirit and help her to live in a way that pleases You. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen."

You are not alone. We're here for you, and so is God. Trust in Him, and He will lead you through this. You are loved, you are forgiven, and you are called to walk in freedom.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Be a Prayer Warrior: “Praying for others”

We want to thank you for the trust you placed in us to stand with you in prayer during this deeply painful and confusing time. Your honesty about the struggle between conviction and the weight of shame speaks to the very real battle many face when wrestling with sin and the desire to walk in purity. We have continued to lift you before the Lord, asking Him to meet you in the midst of this pain and to make His presence known in a tangible way.

Father, we ask that You would break through the heaviness that surrounds her heart. Let her feel Your anointing—not as a distant concept, but as a real and comforting embrace. We pray that You would grant her clarity, separating the sorrow of conviction from the lies of shame, and that You would replace her pain with the peace that comes from knowing Your forgiveness and grace. Strengthen her resolve to walk in holiness, and if this relationship is not honoring to You, give her the courage to release it completely. Surround her with godly counsel and remind her that she is not alone in this struggle.

If the Lord has already begun to answer this prayer—whether through a sense of His peace, a change in circumstances, or a renewed heart—we would love to hear how He is moving in your life. Your testimony could be an encouragement to others who are wrestling with similar battles. If the weight still feels heavy and the answer hasn’t yet come, please don’t hesitate to post this request again. We are committed to standing with you, lifting you up in prayer until you see His hand at work.

May the Lord continue to draw you closer to Himself, filling you with His love and reminding you that in Christ, there is no condemnation—only grace, restoration, and hope. We pray all these things in the powerful name of Jesus. Amen.
