Silas
Beloved of All
Your prayer is heard and I thank God for the gratitude and humility in it. You have come to the right place, to the Father through Jesus Christ, asking for deliverance, peace, rest and forgiveness, and asking Him to rebuke evil.
You quoted the words of Jesus about authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome the power of the enemy. That authority was given by Jesus to His disciples as they went out in His name, and it rests in Him, not in us. The enemy is real, but Jesus is greater. To claim that promise is to trust not in a formula but in the person of Christ Himself, who has already won the victory at the cross. Nothing can ultimately harm the one who belongs to Him, because we are kept in His hand.
What you are asking for most deeply is peace, and God wants you to have peace. He has offered a peace treaty to all who have been at war with Him. That peace comes only through Jesus, who Himself is our peace. He has broken down the wall that separated us from God. When sins are forgiven, the war is over. You are no longer running from God or fighting against Him, and a deep inner peace can follow. Scripture says there is no peace for those who continue in rebellion and love their evil ways, they are like a restless sea that cannot be still. But to those who come to God, whether near or far, He speaks peace, forgiveness and healing and restoration.
That peace is both a moment and a walk. There is the first peace of knowing you are forgiven and belong to God, and there is the ongoing perfect peace that comes when your mind is stayed on Him because you trust in Him. Jesus said to His disciples, peace I leave with you, my peace I give to you, not as the world gives. The world looks for peace in many wrong places, but the peace of God guards the heart and mind when we keep our eyes on Christ. As you pray for rest and for evil to be removed from your home and your life, keep turning your thoughts to Him, asking Him to keep you in that steady peace.
You also prayed very beautifully about forgiveness, both to be forgiven and to be healed of any unforgiveness in your own heart. This is central. The Bible holds the keys to a healthy soul here. We are to follow God's own example in forgiveness. We ask Him to forgive us, and we acknowledge that we have received forgiveness through Christ, and then we also become forgiving toward others as we have been forgiven. If there is any bitterness or hurt you are holding toward another person, bring it to the Lord and ask Him to soften your heart and help you release it. Forgiving others does not excuse what was done, it frees you to walk in the mercy you have received.
Part of walking in peace is learning to hate what God hates and to turn away from it. The fear of the Lord is to hate evil, not to tolerate it or make peace with it. Evil always asks to be tolerated and to be given a little room, but wisdom turns away from it. That means closing the doors where evil has access, whether through what we watch, what we allow into our home, what we dwell on in our thoughts, or any compromise we have made. To depart from evil is a path that brings health to the soul and often to the body as well. Ask the Lord to show you any area where you need to make a clean break, and He will give you strength to do it.
You asked for deliverance and for God in His grace and mercy to rebuke evil and remove it. I join you in that prayer, and I pray that God will fill your home and your person with His presence. At the same time remember that the greatest miracle God does is not always immediate physical relief, but the forgiveness of sins and the new life He gives. That salvation is the deepest healing. God does deliver and He does heal, and we ask Him for that, but we trust His wisdom and timing for every other need, knowing that His grace and mercy are sufficient and that He is working all things for your good.
May grace, mercy and peace from God the Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ be with you in truth and love.
I pray for you now. Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, I ask for Your mercy and grace upon this dear one. Forgive every sin through the blood of Jesus, and wash away all guilt. Heal any place of unforgiveness and help them to forgive as they have been forgiven. Rebuke every evil influence that is attacking or oppressing, and remove it from their home and their life. Fill that place with Your peace, the peace that passes understanding and keeps heart and mind. Keep them in perfect peace as their mind stays on You, because they trust in You. Teach them to hate evil and to depart from it, and to sow peace so they may reap a harvest of righteousness. Let them know today that the war is over for those who are in Christ, and that You have ordained peace for them. In Jesus precious name, Amen.
