πŸ™"Give us our daily bread. Forgive our debts, as we forgive our debtors. Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For it’s Your Kingdom, Power and Glory Forever, Amen,” Matt 6:9-13, c.f., Matt 6:33, "But seek first The Kingdom of God and His Righteousness, then all these other things shall be added to you," thank You in Jesus' Name.

We rejoice with you in how you have highlighted the beautiful order our Lord Jesus gave us for prayer and we agree that this pattern is so instructive for our hearts.

You are right to see that Jesus teaches us to put our Father first before our own needs. He says in Matt 6:9-13, Pray like this: Our Father in heaven, may your name be kept holy. Let your Kingdom come. Let your will be done, as in heaven, so on earth. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our debts, as we also forgive our debtors. Bring us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. For yours is the Kingdom, the power, and the glory forever. Amen.

We see the first half is entirely Godward, His name, His Kingdom, His will. The second half then brings our needs before Him, our daily provision, our forgiveness and our call to forgive others, and our need to be kept from sin and delivered from evil. It ends as it began, with His Kingdom, power and glory forever. This is indeed the standard Jesus gave when He said Pray, then, after this manner, not as empty repetition but as the manner and heart of true prayer.

This order is confirmed by what Jesus says just a little later in Matt 6:33, But seek first Gods Kingdom, and his righteousness and all these things will be given to you as well. When we seek Him first, honor His name, desire His rule and His will on earth as it is in heaven, then we can trust Him to add all that we need.

We also remember His promise in 1 John 5:14 that if we ask anything according to his will, he listens to us, and this prayer teaches us what His will is.

We pray together with you now.

Our Father in heaven, we hallow Your holy name and we thank You for the privilege of being called Your children through Jesus Christ our Lord. We ask that Your Kingdom come and Your will be done in our lives, in our families, in our churches and on this earth as it is in heaven. Forgive us for the times we have put our own desires before Your glory and teach us to seek You first above all else.

We thank You for Your faithful provision and we ask You to give us today our daily bread, all that we need for life and godliness. Forgive us our debts as we also forgive our debtors, and give us hearts that are quick to forgive as we have been forgiven. Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from the evil one, keep our feet from stumbling and our hearts from evil. For Yours is the Kingdom and the power and the glory forever. We ask and thank You for all these things in the mighty name of Jesus our Savior, Amen.

We appreciated your thanksgiving and the way you highlighted the pattern Jesus gave us. Starting with the Father, His name, His kingdom and His will before bringing our own needs is such a steadying reminder, and we hear your gratitude for it.

It is easy to rush to our daily concerns, and we find that beginning with worship first gently puts those concerns in their right place. When we seek Him first, we remember who provides, who forgives and who keeps us, and our requests become more trusting. We join you in thanking Him that His kingdom and glory remain sure even when our days feel uncertain, and that we can rest in His care. Thank you for reminding us of this good order.

A simple way to keep this fresh this week might be to pray through the Lord's Prayer slowly in the morning, pausing after each line to turn it into your own words of praise or quiet surrender before moving to the next request.

Father, thank You for teaching us to pray this way and for inviting us to call You Father. We praise You for Your kingdom and Your will, and we thank You for Your care for our daily needs, Your forgiveness and Your keeping power. Keep shaping our hearts to seek You first, in Jesus' name, Amen.

You have set forth the prayer in its true and blessed order, and therein is wisdom. Our Lord teaches us to begin not with ourselves but with our Father. Hallowed be Your name, Your Kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. We are to seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and then all these other things shall be added unto us.

It is right that the honor of the Father, the coming of His Kingdom and the doing of His will should have the first place in our supplications. When the heart is thus set upon God, we may then with holy confidence bring forward our own need. Give us this day our daily bread. Forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors. Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. For Yours is the Kingdom and the power and the glory forever.

Concerning provision, remember that your heavenly Father knows what you have need of before you ask Him. He who feeds the sparrows will not forget His children. And concerning forgiveness, take comfort in this sure truth, there is forgiveness with Him. It is a divine forgiveness, I even I am He that blotteth out thy transgressions. It is a surprising forgiveness, so full and free that it seems too good to be true, yet it is true. It is a complete forgiveness, He blotteth out our sin now, at the moment the sinner believes. It is an eternal forgiveness, he who is once forgiven is forgiven to all eternity. If you tremble and shake for fear and with a penitent heart desire pardon, you may have it now through Jesus Christ, the Just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God. And as we have received such manifest forgiveness, so ought we to forgive one another freely, for it is a joint work of mercy among the brethren.

And concerning that last petition, lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil, know this, that God's sovereignty encloses you and His angels surround you, and the enemy must first break through that guard before any believer can be destroyed. Yet we must still pray with resignation after our Saviour's perfect model in the garden, nevertheless not as I will but as Thou wilt. You must continue to pray, for you do not know what God's will is, but you may be sure of this, Thou Lord hast not forsaken them that seek Thee. He that seeks Christ, though with a feeble and trembling faith, has this promise for his own.

So let your prayer be both adoration and petition, both submission and confidence. You have three firm grounds of confidence, God's sovereignty, Christ's sacrifice and God's immutability. He abides the same forever. Seek Him, trust Him, forgive as you have been forgiven, and rest in His Kingdom, power and glory forever. Amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!
